Anyone want to join an Octoberthon thread?

Run, swim, or do some other form of exercise every day during October and then post about it.

Inspired by the increasingly inaccurately named Juneathon thread

(Juneathon rules)

I'm not actually planning on exercising every day - I'll be having 1-2 rest days each week.

How are you feeling after your exertions yesterday, Harry?

I'm still very battered and bruised after my fall on Saturday. I went for a plod this morning and it was tough going. It has started raining now and my motivation to go to boot camp has gone AWOL. crosses fingers and hopes dh gets stuck in traffic

HarryLimeFoxtrot · 28/10/2015 19:22

Hi Kanyes - there is nothing wrong with taking it easy for a while until you feel fully recovered. Boot camp when it is dark and rainy sounds unappealing - I'm not surprised your motivation is low.

I was a bit sore this morning. I tried NMTZ this evening thinking that a single DVD would equate to taking it easy. How wrong could I be?! I thought I had fairly good abs - I'm not so sure now. I'm expecting to feel even more sore tomorrow morning (especially my upper arms).

blodynmawr · 28/10/2015 19:41

Kanyes Hope you're feeling better. If you don't want to lay off the exercise full stop whilst you recover perhaps try a gentle sitting down workout with just the upper body bits of BFBM, 30DS L1, or similar to take it easy but keep up the routine?
Harry NMTZ is normally one of my faves but since I had a couple of months off in Sept/Oct I have been focussing on the cardio this month. I am putting off mixing in NMTZ once a week for the reasons you describe - suspect I will have sore abs!
No exercise for me today as had marathon early start/ late finish shift at work and ditto tomorrow Sad. Will need to make up for it over the weekend.....

blodynmawr · 29/10/2015 19:16

Managed 1 x 20 min of Kickbox FF this morning after all! Smile

HarryLimeFoxtrot · 29/10/2015 19:44

Well done blodynmawr - that must have taken some willpower (I'm useless at getting up early to exercise).

I switched back to my usual circuits this evening: Ri30 L1D3 & 6W6P L1D2.

HarryLimeFoxtrot · 30/10/2015 20:18

Ri30 L1D4 & 6W6P L2D2. I'm having a rest day tomorrow. I'm not sure about Sunday yet I foolishly agreed that DS (9) could have a Halloween sleepover, so I have a house full of small boys on Saturday night

OP posts:
HarryLimeFoxtrot · 01/11/2015 11:49

By the time I'd emptied the house of borrowed children I wasn't feeling very motivated. I managed to persuade myself to do NMTZ rather than wimping out and having a rest day Smile

OP posts:
KanyesVest · 02/11/2015 22:02

Congratulations on surviving the borrowed children, Harry. I had 6 3-5 year olds here on Saturday afternoon, there's no way I would have wanted any overnight!

November is a really busy work month for me, so I'm going to have to make the most of days I can manage something. Tonight I did my run to and from boot camp. He really seems to save the tough nights for when he knows I'm running bastard. Not sure what I'll manage tomorrow, I've a hideous work day, but I'll do my best to squeeze something in.

HarryLimeFoxtrot · 02/11/2015 22:11

DH is travelling this week, so I'm not sure how much exercise I will fit in. Today I did Ri30 L1D5 & 6W6P L1D3. Tomorrow isn't looking so good...

OP posts:
KanyesVest · 04/11/2015 11:27

It's hard to fit everything in when you're flying solo, Harry. Hope you get something done. Yesterday was a work related right off for me, but I was at bootcamp this morning for a weights session and a short cardio blast. Depending on what time I get home this evening, I might try a short run...maybe...

HarryLimeFoxtrot · 04/11/2015 19:14

I had a rest day yesterday (just couldn't fit circuits in around real life). Today was less hectic (no evening activities for the DC). I managed Ri30 L1D6 & 6W6P L2D3.

I'm impressed you manage to get up early to exercise Kanyes - I'm never motivated enough to do that!

OP posts:
HarryLimeFoxtrot · 05/11/2015 19:07

I did NMTZ this evening. Still finding the abs circuit pretty evil, but the whole workout doesn't seem so bad now that it is getting a bit more familiar.

HarryLimeFoxtrot · 06/11/2015 20:18

I finished off my week with Ri30 L1D7 & 6W6P L1D4. I'll be having a rest day tomorrow, hopefully back on Sunday (after which I think I'll move up a level on Ri30 and deal with the horrible plank circuit which I seem to recall is a feature of level 2).

OP posts:
KanyesVest · 06/11/2015 21:32

Well done Harry, it's no wonder you have a six pack and I don't!

I'm on a second enforced rest day...still working and a couple more hours ahead of me... If I'm not as late finishing as I was last night, I'll try to get up tomorrow and go for a run before I head off to a conference for the day.

KanyesVest · 07/11/2015 22:26

I had to stop in tkmaxx on my way home from the meeting today for birthday presents, and happened across a pair of fantastic running tights, so I treated myself and took them out for a 5k this evening. They are sparkly!

Hope you're both having a nice weekend.

HarryLimeFoxtrot · 08/11/2015 19:10

I did Ri30 L1D8 & 6W6P L2D4 this morning.

Your new running tights sound awesome Kanyes - I could really do with some new kit (I've been dropping hints to my sisters in the hope that I won't get bloody Boden vouchers for Christmas again - nothing from Boden ever fits me properly). I bought a new pair of trainers this afternoon - I'll hopefully get to try them out tomorrow.

OP posts:
blodynmawr · 10/11/2015 07:31

Still here though last week was a disaster as I was away and doing long days at work. Did lots of walking though!
Did 2 x 20 min Kickbox FF today.
Harry I got some quite good quality lycra capris from Boden sale a few months ago if you have vouchers that need using. I quite like NMTZ but haven't done it for a while as have been focussing on cardio. Need to get it included in the routine once or twice a week now to tone arms and abs ahead of Christmas!
Kanyes Still admiring you for bootcamp. Sounds horrific! My sister always finds good gear at TKMaxx but our local one is such a jumble sale I can never face going in there to look for anything. I do fancy a pair of bright swirly capris though so may wait for Jan sales.

HarryLimeFoxtrot · 10/11/2015 07:33

I did Ri30 L2D1 and 6W6P L1D4 yesterday. I'm reserving judgement on the new level of Ri30 until I'm a bit more used to it.

The rest of the week is going to be a bit hit and miss (DH is away, so I have to deal with all the DC's activities and homework).

OP posts:
blodynmawr · 11/11/2015 07:20

2 x20 min Kickbox FF done. Had to really drag myself out of bed though!

HarryLimeFoxtrot · 11/11/2015 20:02

I did NMTZ yesterday, and Ri30 L2D2 plus 6W6P L2D5 today. Definitely need a shower now...

I'm impressed with anyone who manages to exercise first thing in the morning - I never have the motivation at that time of day.

OP posts:
HarryLimeFoxtrot · 13/11/2015 19:16

I did Ri30 L2D3 and 6W6P L1D6 yesterday and NMTZ this evening. Rest day tomorrow - back on Sunday...

OP posts:
HarryLimeFoxtrot · 16/11/2015 21:53

Oops - completely forgot to check in on Sunday (I did Ri30 L2D4 & 6W6P L2D6).

Today I did Ri30 L2D5 & 6W6P L1D7.

I hope everyone else is getting on OK Smile

OP posts:
blodynmawr · 17/11/2015 07:32

2 x 20 min Kickbox FF done.
Managed 3 x 40 min sessions last week - aiming for 4 sessions this week as Christmas do's are looming! Grin
Glad you're still around Harry and hope you're OK Kanyes.

HarryLimeFoxtrot · 17/11/2015 20:34

Just NMTZ this evening. Not really feeling on top form just at the moment. I may have a mid-week rest day tomorrow and see if that helps.

OP posts:
blodynmawr · 18/11/2015 07:24

2 x 20 min Kickbox FF done.
Hope you feel better soon Harry. I was feeling the same mid last week - the generally dark days due to the cloud and rain at this time of year have a lot to do with it I think! Roll on January when the days start getting longer! Smile
