This is a continuation of the parkrunning thread where are all are welcome to chat about tourism, tee-shirts, PBs and everything else parkrun (and sometimes non-parkrun) related.

If you have been lurking on a previous thread now is the time to come out and say hello Grin. Like parkrun we're very inclusive and always welcoming to new starters Smile. And we love hearing about new courses we haven't been to Smile

Welcome runtoyou!

Well done karatekimmi!

Well Sheffield sounds like a better place for him than Norwich OhOneOhTwoOhThree, not great hiking in Norfolk Wink

feetheart · 22/09/2015 10:22

Oh thank goodness I've found you all. Couldn't get back onto MN when all the trouble kicked off as couldn't remember my password or the email I had used when I first registered (when I was pregnant with my nearly 10 yr parkrun buddy Shock)

Will catch up later, need to do some work.

Runtoyou · 22/09/2015 12:44

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone :)

Hello feetheart.

MelanieCheeks · 22/09/2015 13:34

Hiya Feet, were you over in Norn Irn?

feetheart · 22/09/2015 14:20

I was, way back in August.
DS and I ran Portrush parkrun and DD volunteered as photographer. We were really lucky as the weather was great and more importantly the tide was just right so we got to run on reasonably solid sand. DS did get to parkrun through the waves though and we both got to go over their famous bridge Grin

Are we still up for a Bushy trip? Thursday that was your venture wasn't it that all of us close enough decided we needed to do as well :)

Halle - go on, it would be great to have you do your 50th with us. I am RD on the 17th and DS and his friend are doing it on 24th. There will definitely be lots of cake on 17th as my club are aiming to do a takeover and I said they had to set the cake standard high :)

Bathers - looks like Rock Solid was a great success. We had too much on that we couldn't get out of to do it but will be looking out eagerly for future dates as I know DS will LOVE it.

A date for any localish parkrunners - DS is 10 on 7th November which is a parkrunday. It may be themed and there will definitely be cake Grin CakeGrin Cake

standingonlego · 22/09/2015 19:02

Hello parkrunning pals. I have heard great things about Rock Solid too blathersnwell done,

I am catching up on thread but exciting news...I got my fastest time so far this year at parkrun on Saturday. I am so pleased....but only you lot would understand Grin.

Now going back to catch up on news...

ThursdayLastWeek · 22/09/2015 19:30

Yay! lego!

ThursdayLastWeek · 22/09/2015 19:33

Oops, hadn't read back sorry feet!

Yes I am travelling to the big smoke weekend after this one - so will be at Bushey on the 2nd Smile

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 22/09/2015 20:11

Welcome Run and welcome back feet and lego

Massive well done lego Smile

Thank you cinnamon, he has survived Freshers' week so far Grin and has agreed that parkrun can be a neutral venue (was that your idea chutney?) as long as he doesn't have any friends who also go Grin

feet as you know I am always up for cake. I can't do 17th, but might be able to organise a posse for 24th Smile.

Now, Bushey. I could either drive down the M1 and collect feet and Halle on my way, or we could have a train adventure on the Thameslink Smile (although we would have to work out how to get to Bushey from St Pancras)

Well done standingonlego!

HalleLouja · 24/09/2015 15:09

Feet the 24th we are now going to Oak Hill and 7th November we are doing Barclay. They only had 30 runner last week so we are aiming to take over....

Blatherskite · 24/09/2015 15:40

ROCKSOLID was indeed a huge success last weekend. I'm still very Grin about it all.

Planning starts soon for the next one now which will be in Exeter in March 2016. That's after I've worked at at least 3 other MK events in the interim. I've had a great day today doing bits for a 5 miler on Halloween weekend! No parkrun for me this weekend as I'm at a community fair thing talking about my running club. That'll be 6 weeks on the trot that I've not been for!! I'm getting withdrawal symptoms!

HalleLouja · 24/09/2015 15:51

Blathers are you ok? I think you might be getting the shakes soon. Well done on Rocksolid.

chutneypig · 24/09/2015 19:39

Glad to hear it went well Blathers. There was much talk at work today about that sort of event, people were very keen. The discussion followed on from a degree of fairly unflattering amazement that I'd managed 10k before work this morning. Finally. I'd like to think it was due to the early start but I dont think so Grin. I was chuffed though.

steppemum · 25/09/2015 10:01

I will have to miss parkrun AGAIN as well, school car boot and I am helping to organise.
I have kept up the running though. Definitely going to be there next weekend!

feetheart · 25/09/2015 12:18

Have a look at the parkrunUK Facebook page Grin Grin Grin

MelanieCheeks · 25/09/2015 13:38

Running across a bridge?

feetheart · 25/09/2015 14:09

This bridge :-)

MelanieCheeks · 25/09/2015 14:11

No, on the parkrun fb page....

feetheart · 25/09/2015 14:17

Our bridge :)
It actually looks a lot narrower in the photo than it is.

MelanieCheeks · 25/09/2015 20:46

Very picture-skew! And lovely portrush bridge photo too ( I don't remember it, maybe it's new, or else I blanked out the painfulness....)

Im doing a tactical parkrun tomorrow-looking at the times I've run local ones, I reckon I can beat my previous Victoria time, and get a morale boosting pb message. Vic is NI's busiest run, usually around 300 peeps, and they do good buns! I'm planning ahead for my own 100th buns, so ive done some trial ones to take along tomorrow.

( disclaimer: I don't bake. I've bought some iced fairy cakes from Asda, used ready made icing in piping tubes, and had a go at icing the parkrun symbol in green and black)

chutneypig · 26/09/2015 07:41

Hope the tactical run goes well today Melanie. I think icing is the hardest part of anything cake related, so I'm impressed!

I like that bridge photo. So that's Portrush is it?

I'm going to watch our run for the first time today and I'm looking forward to it. The kids are running a mini marathon tomorrow (and I have to trail around behind them). It's only 2.5 k but thought I'd give them a break and DH a chance to run on his own.

You'll really enjoy it whe you do get to it Steppe, keeping up the running is the main thing.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 26/09/2015 07:51

Good morning parkrunners (and spectators and volunteers Grin)

chutney I think the bridge photo up there ^^ is Portrush, and the one on the parkrun UK FB page is Luton Smile

Well done Blathers, although parkrun must be missing you!

The great thing about parkrun is there's always next week steppe Smile

I am volunteering today Smile just as well, I did yoga yesterday and the teacher focussed on feet and legs. It didn't hurt much at the time, but my calves were BURNING when I woke up this morning and my feet are a bit stiff. I have a HM tomorrow

Proud Mummy moment - DS1 (the one who started University last week) texted me last night to say he'd been out to recce his nearest parkrun. Whether or not he gets there is a different matter Grin, but I must be doing something right!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 26/09/2015 07:53

Melanie can we have pictures of your iced buns please? I too am a rubbish baker, but am going to try to make feet's amazing fruit and nut flapjack for a post HM treat if I can find the recipe Smile
