This is a continuation of the parkrunning thread where are all are welcome to chat about tourism, tee-shirts, PBs and everything else parkrun (and sometimes non-parkrun) related.

If you have been lurking on a previous thread now is the time to come out and say hello Grin. Like parkrun we're very inclusive and always welcoming to new starters Smile. And we love hearing about new courses we haven't been to Smile

We're not having fancy dress for nyd, feeling left out now!

chutneypig · 28/12/2015 14:35

I don't think we have fancy dress either on NYD but think we're going for some tourism. Went to check out the parking yesterday. DS moaned walking it took too long but he's very much looking forward to running it.

Shame for minilego - my two are finding the wind really tough at the moment.

FiftyNineOhEight · 28/12/2015 18:19

My NYD running partner (18 year old DS1) has had a better offer on NYE and won't now be at home with his aged and boring parents. He did agonise over his decision for a short while, I think it helped him decide when I said that no, we were not going to Maccie D's for breakfast on the way home Smile

I won't be in fancy dress, whether it is expected or not Grin

cinners do you know when your 100th is going to be yet? I have started marking my calendar for next year Smile

MelanieCheeks · 28/12/2015 20:45

My poor running companion hasn't been able to keep anything down for 48 hours now-I suspect shes been eating stones/socks/ Christmas lamb. We may need to visit the vet tomorrow, but looks like I could well be running solo on Friday.

FiftyNineOhEight · 28/12/2015 22:53

Oh no, poor Minnie - I hope she's better son, without needing to visit the vet.

cinnamongreyhound · 29/12/2015 08:31

Ah no MelanieCheeks that's rubbish, wishing her well soon!

FiftyNineOhEight I was thinking it would be 12th March but suspect that it will now be 19th as I have a course on 12th. I have a canicross race on 23rd Jan and I'm rd 30th Jan and 27th Feb so that's slowing me down a bit!

FiftyNineOhEight · 29/12/2015 10:11

OK cinnamon I will keep March free! I am doing the CBR again the first weekend, so will be volunteering that Saturday.

MelanieCheeks · 29/12/2015 11:09

This is lovely: Pete #alltheparkruns Roase is taking video footage of each one he runs, so here's a speeded up version of

Spot the sprouty headband, and go-faster doggy!

cinnamongreyhound · 29/12/2015 11:26

I'm tempted to enter the cbr again as I'll still have my fitness from the week before but worried about over doing it!

FiftyNineOhEight · 29/12/2015 16:58

Do it Cinnamon!

MyBlackCat · 29/12/2015 17:35

I'm thinking of doing a NYD double on Friday - it's about 40 minutes between the two so should be doable, I will just need to get up early Grin

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 29/12/2015 17:39

Have you all seen the excellent article about Parkrun in the Independent today? Our local one and we're all very excited about it! Grin

FiftyNineOhEight · 29/12/2015 17:56

Fabulous Gasp0de Grin

BlackCat that should be do-able - I did a single NYD run two years ago, and a double last year. Get your running gear out and your bag packed the night before!

MelanieCheeks · 29/12/2015 17:57

Yes I saw that, Gaspode, excellent article!

Blatherskite · 29/12/2015 20:57

I have my NYD double sorted. Alice Holt and Guildford. Will get me two more courses as well as 2 more runs as I've done neither before. No more t-shirts to earn for a long while now so might as well work on the unofficial targets ;)

cinnamongreyhound · 29/12/2015 21:49

I'm doing bury st Edmunds at 9 and home at 10.30 (possibly with ds2 and dss)

Blatherskite · 29/12/2015 21:55

I'll be going with 2 or 3 car loads of fellow runners. 'Breakfast' at a Weatherspoons in Godalming already planned Grin

feetheart · 29/12/2015 22:46

Hope Minnie is OK Melanie though it sounds like it may not be the first time Xmas Hmm

My NYD double consists of RDing ours at 9 then volunteering at Tring at 10.30 with the promise of a parkrunners/family lunch at the Akeman (Tring's very posh 'cafe' aka pub/restaurant) DS is planning to run both and has sorted out his responsible adults already! I just need to ensure he eats masses between now and then so he has enough fuel in him to make it round!

chutneypig · 30/12/2015 08:17

How's Minnie doing Melanie? I really like those sped up videos too, what a fantastic idea.

I did see the article Gasp0de and really enjoyed it - once I'd got over the random capitalisation. I liked the comment on the clue being in the name.

All our local runs are on at the same time, so we're planning on giving Colwick a go.

I like that minifeet has his adults sorted. Sensible ladGrin

MelanieCheeks · 30/12/2015 09:18

Thanks for asking - Minnie managed to eat some white fish and rice yesterday, and seems back to her perky self. The weather outside is awful though, might not get out for much of a walk today, nor indeed run training tonight.

Good man, minifeet!

HalleLouja · 30/12/2015 14:22

Ok its

Panshanger then SA

or Luton the SA.

Am tempted by the second option mainly as I hate running in mud.

FiftyNineOhEight · 30/12/2015 17:10

I have had a rethink and might now do a Luton/SA double, which will cut down the amount of driving I need to do on NYD, including collecting DS1 from the back end of nowhere on my way home Smile.

steppemum · 30/12/2015 17:20

you are all so fit doing NYD doubles.

I could, because ours is 8:30 and then Chippenham is 10:30, and lost of people are doing both.

But ---- 8:30 on NYD???

and I don't think I could manage a double.

Although (stealth boast) I did run 10 km yesterday Smile
Having a good week actually, dh made a joke last week about running every other day this week and it has turned into a bit of a challenge.

How is Minnie doing? Sorry to hear she is poorly.

FiftyNineOhEight · 30/12/2015 17:25

steppe you could so do a double Smile, especially if you ran 10K yesterday Grin

What time do you need to leave the house to get to the 8:30 parkrun?

You could get a flask and some sandwiches ready the night before for breakfast on the way, and sleep in your running gear then you need only get up 2 minutes before you need to leave Grin

steppemum · 30/12/2015 18:33

59 - I have considered it, won't be drinking really on NYE, kids and dh at home, all in bed by 1pm.

It would make 2 more towards my 50.

hmmmm

Only problem is I am very stiff today after 10km. I have only done 10km once before, and the last 3 weeks I haven't run as much as usual, so it was a bit of a body shock Grin
