This is a continuation of the parkrunning thread where are all are welcome to chat about tourism, tee-shirts, PBs and everything else parkrun (and sometimes non-parkrun) related.

If you have been lurking on a previous thread now is the time to come out and say hello Grin. Like parkrun we're very inclusive and always welcoming to new starters Smile. And we love hearing about new courses we haven't been to Smile

our NYD is 8:30, and then you can go on to Chippenham for a 10:30 run.

I don't think I can do 2 back to back.

Can't get to one on boxing day, they are all 30 min drive, which as we are guests would be a bit long to disappear for.

FiftyNineOhEight · 24/12/2015 23:45

Yay steppe we are almost twins Grin

Good idea of Melanie to squeeze some extra ones in. We will be going to 4 between B Day and 2 Jan, but all ones we've been to before. I'm up to 18 different parkruns now, and there's a new one in striking distance Smile

MelanieCheeks · 25/12/2015 17:23

Great run at city park, even managed a pb!

Dh was there as photographer, but he was also minding doggiecheeks1, who is a bit unruly in crowds, so the pix were a bit blurry. Did get an action one of me in my sprouty headband though!

As I was running, I could see the guy ahead of me was wearing a t shirt that said #alltheparkruns. I overtook him in the final stretch, and afterwards shook his hand and asked him about his shirt. He's aiming to run over 300 different runs before his 42nd birthday.

'Twas cold, and there were icy patches. Tomorrows run is a Santa dash-may change my outfit ( though I'm worryingly find of dressing up as a sprouty elf! The tights will have to go, though, they were too small and kept falling down....)

Forecast is for rain Sad

Looking forward to parkrun in the morning. We have managed to persuade several newbies to join us as our kids have no clashing sat am sports fixtures this week! dS1 (9) ran last Sat in just over 30...he is now determined to PB tomorrow Grin

chutneypig · 26/12/2015 09:20

Hope your DS gets his PB standingonlego that thirty is a tantalising target. Which I aim to crack next year!

Enjoy the Santa dash Melanie.

We decided against going this morning. I checked the weather and it said here'd be 40 mile an hour winds this morning, it's windy here and will be ten times worse at our parkrun.

Hope everyone has a great run today.

MyBlackCat · 26/12/2015 15:26

I had a much better run than my last one this morning, managing to dip under 26 on the 26th - still along way off my PB but good considering the wind. Around 90 people ran which was a good turnout.

FiftyNineOhEight · 26/12/2015 16:31

Hope littlelego got his PB lego Smile

Amazingly both DS1 and DS2 got up when I asked them, so all three of us ran at Luton. DS2 PB'd Grin and got a better age grade than DS1 Grin Grin. We saw feet and minifeet and a man in a 250 shirt Shock

feet sorry we couldn't stay for long afterwards. See you again soon - how about a trip to Rushmere in the New Year with Blathers?

feetheart · 26/12/2015 17:21

59 - lovely to see all of you. Rushmere sounds a good idea though I'd like to run it so need to be fit again - did a longish hilly walk this afternoon so def on the way back.
I insisted on being photographed with the bloke in the 250 shirt as it was the first one I'd seen in the flesh - turns out the bloke I got to take the photo has run 456 parkruns Xmas Shock Xmas Blush (in my defence he didn't have a 250 shirt on)

Would also like a trip to Bushey this year if we can organise a posse.

FiftyNineOhEight · 26/12/2015 18:19

456 parkruns Shock

Happy to wait until you are ready for Rushmere - glad you managed a decent walk this afternoon Smile.

And YY to Bushey - we need a thread posse trip! Who's in Grin?

MelanieCheeks · 26/12/2015 18:27

456 runs!!!! Oh my stars!

Here, my best freind lives very near Bushey, if yousens are doing a meet-up count me in!

cinnamongreyhound · 26/12/2015 19:57

I'm up for bushey if it's a weekend I can do.

We had 89 Shock today, was a lovely atmosphere and despite me making 4 pints of hot chocolate and being a bit stingy on servings we ran out. Had tea, coffee and fruit tea as well as sausage rolls, mince pies and biscuits. I even remembered the toilet key!

Glad everyone else seems to have had good Boxing Day runs.

FiftyNineOhEight · 26/12/2015 22:14

cinners your B Day run sounds lovely! I hope your runners realise how lucky they are to have you in charge Smile

MelanieCheeks · 27/12/2015 07:44

Lovely, if slightly flooded and mucky B Day run at Ormeau Park. I knew there was a photographer taking pictures - I've just found his album on Facebook with over 1,000 fantastic pictures! And he says "feel free to share, tag etc". I'll be doing a blog of my Christmas Compendium tours, so it's super to have some proper action shots.

Fab picture Melanie

Right, Bushey. It needs to be when feet has got over her injury, Melanie can stay with her friend, and cinners is free (cinners if it helps logistically at all you could stay with me the night before - I am also happy to drive and collect people on the way down the A1/M1 (looking at you Halle Grin). So are we looking at April/May/Juneish?

Who else wants to come Smile?

And are we all on FB?- might be easier to start a group there than clog up this thread trying to work out dates (going on the fun and games we had trying to fix up a MN 10K a couple of years ago).

MelanieCheeks · 27/12/2015 09:14

I is on Facebooks. Spring time sounds sensible.

Now, dear parkrunners, costume for the NYD run? I think elves and sprouts are probably a bit dated by then - do I need something tartan and Hogmanay-ish, or do I run round with a glass of champagne?

HalleLouja · 27/12/2015 09:37

So yesterday I woke up for the second time at 9.06. Luckily I knew St Albans parkrun started at 9.30 so I literally rushed out of the door and got there in time. My legs are on a go slow so will ignore the time but I did it....

Fifty I am on FB and will need a lift as can't drive on motorways.....

Melanie you could dress up as a glass of champagne. Not sure how but a light coloured top and some tinsel would probably help. Or one of these.

HalleLouja · 27/12/2015 09:42

456 parkruns .

FiftyNineOhEight · 27/12/2015 09:45

OK, have set up a group (use search terms such as Mumsnet Bushey parkrun posse and you should find it Smile).

MelanieCheeks · 27/12/2015 17:05

Halle, that champagne bottle outfit is class!

Having been to visit my Mum today, I now have a lovely tartan bow for my hair. With a tartan sash, and a ribbon for Minnie, and my glass of bubbly to go "Haaaaapy Noo Yeeeear!" to all the photographers, I think I'm set! I can even wear my running club shirt underneath.

feetheart · 27/12/2015 18:15

Sounds a great plan Melaine - we will need pictures :)
We are really lucky to have a fab photographer although he only takes pictures every other week as his wife has got him into running! He was there yesterday so I expect a lot of great pictures of fancy dress runners and our wonderful 'man in a turkey hat' volunteer :o

Well done Halle, that is dedication. we may have been just starting at the time not so good at the 9am thing Blush

FiftyNineOhEight · 27/12/2015 18:42

That turkey hat man was volunteer of the week in my book! He made me smile every time I ran past him Smile

HalleLouja · 27/12/2015 20:54

Fifty I can't find the group. Will look later or you can on me. I tried to pm you but couldn't figure out how to on phone. Blush

FiftyNineOhEight · 27/12/2015 23:03

Halle I have PM'd you and Melanie. If anyone else needs the link to the group just drop me a PM.

standingonlego · 28/12/2015 08:07

fifty PM me the link....you never know!

minilego ran well but no PB :( it was very windy but we dragged along 6 first timers plus MrLego. dS2 bailed at 3k but the was the furthest he has ever managed. However DS1 friend knocked out a 28.05 on his first run ..he was quite Envy

standingonlego · 28/12/2015 08:09

I like the tartan theme -Melanie , we have a lot of that in my house at Christmas Xmas Smile

Lovely to catch up on everyone's news, enjoy the rest of Christmas and the festive celebrations
