This is a continuation of the parkrunning thread where are all are welcome to chat about tourism, tee-shirts, PBs and everything else parkrun (and sometimes non-parkrun) related.

If you have been lurking on a previous thread now is the time to come out and say hello Grin. Like parkrun we're very inclusive and always welcoming to new starters Smile. And we love hearing about new courses we haven't been to Smile

I love the photos. M looks fantastic even if she didn't think so. And that's a great medal cinnamon and what a great time.

I got my best position yet Grin - first 150!!! We were about a hundred down. I had both DC so DH could try for a PB, which he did get. I went and ordered some thermal gloves for DD as soon as we got home. She wasn't chirpy. Her brother didnt care, hes got his eyes firmly on his 50. I'm so glad I went, it was one of those runs where you just feel great after. Wasn't fast but felt very comfortable.

MelanieCheeks · 14/12/2015 13:41

Has anyone seen those knitted scanner covers? Tempted to try to make one.

FiftyNineOhEight · 14/12/2015 20:08

Melanie love your pictures!

I am the volunteer on the left in the top #parkrunknits picture Smile I didn't make the scanner cover, but I did make my wrist warmers.

Cool bling cinners Smile

MelanieCheeks · 14/12/2015 20:28

Marvellous! And pictures to follow too!

ThursdayLastWeek · 14/12/2015 20:52

Lovely pictures Melanie I love you and your dog Smile. I'm intrigued by the knitted scanner covers? Do they make it easier to scan in these wintery conditions?

That really is excellent bling cinnamon and you're quite right about not wishing bump away. It's going so fast as it is, and there's certainly no more being had!

I'm volunteering this week, timekeeping, my least favourite job really but not challenging. It's our 100th run this week yay!

MelanieCheeks · 14/12/2015 20:54

Do you take the scanners off to do the actual scanning? They're just little coast to keep them warm en route?

FiftyNineOhEight · 14/12/2015 21:07

Apparently the scanners don't like getting cold, so the covers keep them cosy and stop them getting condensation inside. We took ours out of the covers to use them Smile

ThursdayLastWeek · 14/12/2015 21:09

Yes the condensation is a pain in the butt!

cinnamongreyhound · 16/12/2015 00:11

Never had scanner problems in the cold just in the wet but now we have a lovely gazebo Smile

I love timekeeping ThursdayLastWeek! Enjoy the 100.

We have our Christmas run this week, out voted by my team who said Boxing Day may not get many and didn't want people to miss it. I have a hideous advent calendar jumper I got for £5! We also have our wedding theme as 2 rd's get married Sunday. Will post cake photo saturday Smile

HalleLouja · 17/12/2015 11:03

Feet I am thinking of crossing the border and coming to see you lot on Boxing Day.

FiftyNineOhEight · 17/12/2015 15:27

Oh do Halle! DS1 and I will be there!

HalleLouja · 17/12/2015 15:50

OK 59 will see if my friend who has been AWOL from parkrun will come with me as she was talking about a BD parkrun.

MelanieCheeks · 17/12/2015 18:38

Ooooh, decisions decisions!

Do I go to Waterworks, NI's biggest, where there will be TV crews and Dame Mary Peters and such in honour of SPOTY coming from Belfast this weekend?

Or do I go to Queens, probably less than 100 runners, where they are giving an extra mince pie for the dodgiest Christmas jumper (and I've just got Minnie a cute one!)

Or do I go to my home run?

Or go to Falls, which is next on my list of "times I think I can beat".

FiftyNineOhEight · 17/12/2015 19:57

Hmm, for me it's a toss up between Dame Mary and the extra mince pie. You can go home, of beat your time at Falls any weekend Smile

FiftyNineOhEight · 17/12/2015 20:05

I think I am going to Sheffield Hallam this weekend. Then to Luton Wardown for Boxing Day. Thinking of doing a double again on NYD (Huntingdon and Peterborough) Smile

MelanieCheeks · 17/12/2015 20:44

Yeah, I think Queens, where I technically won the Halloween costume pwize! Allows me to say "Did you say dodgiest or doggiest jumper?". I'll be elfin - headband, T shirt, and...if I can find them...stripey tights.

Plus, we do need to do our MIL visit on Saturday, and Queens allows me to get home and changed most quickly. Waterworks is likely to over-run time, if there's a TV crew involved.

MelanieCheeks · 17/12/2015 21:32

Minnie in her dodgy Doggy Christmas sweater.

Aww, too cute Smile

Tad-dah tights! Grin

feetheart · 17/12/2015 22:58

Minnie looks great Xmas Smile

You know you want to Halle - it's not as if it's very far really! There will be a lot of fancy dress (if our Halloween parkrun is anything to go by!) and, hopefully, lots of cake.

We are doing 9am on NYD (with me as RD) and then debating between St Albans or Tring. I think the consensus is SA and that's probably more sensible for DS who wants to run both!

Isn't Sheffield Hallam a big one 59 ?

FiftyNineOhEight · 17/12/2015 23:06

Oh I didn't realise you were holding a NYD run feet

Sheffield Hallam had 300-odd last weekend according to the results, but they teamed up with the University for a Santa run so I don't know if that meant they were bigger than usual.

FiftyNineOhEight · 17/12/2015 23:09

OMG that was a small week - some weeks they have more than 600 Shock

cinnamongreyhound · 18/12/2015 10:23

I'd go for the glory MelanieCheeks! You can beat your time any time Wink

Just finished my cake for tomorrow. Can't remember if I said but me and three others are making a wedding cake, a tier each for three of us and one lady making a bride and groom. Two of our rd's are getting married Sunday so we're going to wedding and Christmas themed! I'm planning on running 6 miles first, build cake and then run our parkrun. Not sure about fitting in feeding ds3 or putting my signs or by hey ho, I'm sure it'll work out!!

Phew, Cinnamon, do you have 30 hours in your day? Wedding and Christmas theme sounds fun.

Gotta love Claires - I've got stripey tights AND elf socks (can I make a sign that says "parkrun is good for your elf" in time?)
Also a sprout necklace so I can say "I've put the sprouts on!"

And a snowflake thing for a different party I'm going to tonight. And a sparkly poinsettia brooch for a dance demo tomorrow afternoon. And a headband to keep my ears warm, and cos they were doing Buy 3 get 3 free.

standingonlego · 18/12/2015 22:04

Talking fancy dress, just seen the girl on gogglebox wearing superhero socks with capes...would be awesome for a run!

chutneypig · 19/12/2015 07:42

Wow cinnamon that's quite a day. How exciting. Cake looks great too.

Minnie looks fab as always Melanie. They must have loved you too in Claire's.

Interesting to see how many they get today fiftynine. I guess your DS might be going too?

I'm just poking people awake here. Still feel a bit rubbish with my cold but at least it's not raining here. And quite warm. Typical now I've got DD fully kitted out in thermals she's bound to want to wear. We never have fancy dress at ours, whcih is probably just as well as I am beyond rubbish at fancy dress, let alone to be able to run in. Capes might be a good bet standingonlego

Enjoy the birthday run Thursday
