This is a continuation of the parkrunning thread where are all are welcome to chat about tourism, tee-shirts, PBs and everything else parkrun (and sometimes non-parkrun) related.

If you have been lurking on a previous thread now is the time to come out and say hello Grin. Like parkrun we're very inclusive and always welcoming to new starters Smile. And we love hearing about new courses we haven't been to Smile

well, ds and I had a pj morning. Dh ran, it was cold and windy and muddy.

feetheart · 07/12/2015 07:06

Can I join the 'Waiting till April" gang please? Wiggle said my 25 t-shirt was in stock (after not being for a while), I ordered it but now they have said as lots of people were allowed to order at the same time they are out of stock again. Bit sad as I'd had my hopes raised but by April we should have a posse of purple t-shirts and DS should have his 50 by then. Any idea what size the 50s start at?
Wonder if I'll get it before our 1st birthday :)

Windy on Saturday but still had 112 hardy souls running - I was RD.
I had visited a social club for people with visual impairments in the week and we had our first VI runner on Saturday as a result :o

How did you get on yesterday 59? There have been a LOT of comments on FB about the wind but I think most people enjoyed it - nice, useful t-shirt too.

reallyneedmoresleep - well done on under-30. That is a HUGE milestone. As for the other thing - no-one knows but you :)

cinnamongreyhound · 07/12/2015 10:44

Our 9 yo 100 club runner has been told they haven't even made any 100 t-shirts in children's sizes feetheart but they will be coming with the April batch. But I assume more juniors have 50's so you should be ok. His 50 t-shirt is huge but he's had it a while so I guess they'll have had to think about juniors a bit more.

FiftyNineOhEight · 07/12/2015 20:21

feet I had a good run yesterday thank you - faster than last year, not quite as fast as 2 years ago when I'd just run a marathon. The wind seemed to be in our face all the way round, except for a couple of bits where you really noticed the difference. And yes, great tee shirt/top!

We have some juniors with 50 shirts. DS1's 10 shirt has arrived, because he was 17 when he earned it I was only given the option of mens' sizes.

feetheart · 08/12/2015 04:50

59 - we need a meet-up with the 10 'boys' then :)

FiftyNineOhEight · 08/12/2015 07:30

We do indeed feet my 10boy will be home on 19 December. Are you having a Boxing Day run?

feetheart · 08/12/2015 15:07

Yes, fancy dress and as much cake as we can manage :o

FiftyNineOhEight · 09/12/2015 13:53

Oh well then, what's not to like!

cinnamongreyhound · 11/12/2015 21:16

What's everyone doing tomorrow, I'm tail running as I'm going straight to a timed club 10k with a reindeer medal Smile

steppemum · 11/12/2015 22:38

I have only been out once this week, and wimped out of parkrun last week as I was really tired and wanted a slow morning (we get up 7 days a week for something, sometimes you just need not to have to be anywhere)

So, definitely going to run tomorrow, but rubbish throat and forecast is bad.

Wtfmummy · 11/12/2015 23:44

Hi there

I've recently discovered parkrun, doing my 4th one tomorrow! My time is 35 mins and I am such a wuss on the trail sections, wish I could "attack" it more as some of the more experienced runners do..

I'm training for my first half marathon in March Confused currently running up to 6 miles so need to up the mileage and the pace - I'm a plodder. 11.5 minutes miles...god knows how some people run 8 minutes miles!!!!

feetheart · 12/12/2015 00:01

Welcome Wtfmummy. I've no idea how the speedy ones do it either but the joy of parkrun is that it is for everyone. Enjoy your 4th parkrun.

I'm photographer tomorrow and DS says he wants to run a slow one - busy week finished off by school disco and parkrun curry night makes for a tired boy :)

Hope no-one gets too wet in the morning!

chutneypig · 12/12/2015 07:11

I seem to have acquired a cold in the night and feel rubbish, but likesteppe didn't go last week. I've eaten my bodyweight the last two days so feel I ought to stretch my legs.

Hello wtfmummy. I'm a fellow plodder but I am getting faster, just very slowly. I'm also thinking about a half marathon next year. Possibly.

Enjoy the tail running cinnamon, and the nice bling later.

MelanieCheeks · 12/12/2015 08:03

Currently sipping a lemsip and looking at the rain outside....but I've my name down to volunteer so I'll wrap up warm. My running club is then having a pairs race - our partners have been selected using a "timed mile" exercise we did at a recent training night, so that the fastest runner is paired with the slowest etc.

ThursdayLastWeek · 12/12/2015 08:12

Morning all, I'm going to give it my best shot this morning - though I'm not sure I can legally call what I'm about to do 'running' Grin

I haven't run for a fortnight - shocking behaviour, and I really blummin' miss it now.i have to keep reminding myself no one is pregnant forever!

Have a great morning everyone, and welcome wtfmummy!

FiftyNineOhEight · 12/12/2015 08:35

I can't go today - I have something else starting at 10am an hour away from home, that doesn't have a parkrun close enough for me to do both things.

cinners love the sound of your bling Smile

steppe, chutney and Melanie hope you are all feeling better soon. I am rater sniffly too, it must be the time of year.

Welcome Wtf, hope you run well today! I did a HM last weekend at about that pace, and I was far from last (it was only a little local one with 1500, mostly club, runners).

Thursday hope you get a leg stretch. Even if you don't run you are out there moving around.

Hope you get some good photos feet Smile. DS1 has confirmed receipt of the short, and it fits, so looks like we are a go Smile

Has anyone run any of the Sheffield parkruns? I may be there next Saturday morning.

ThursdayLastWeek · 12/12/2015 10:26

Well I'm feeling quite pleased with myself - I managed to jog for 2.5 miles, then walked .25 up the worst hill then run down to the finish Smile

Much better than I anticipated!

sweetvparsley · 12/12/2015 11:53

A very soggy 5k completed this morning with a much reduced field. Despite needing windscreen wipers on my glasses and needing to hold onto the railings at the steep slope I got round without incident and was rewarded with first in my age category. Yipee!

MelanieCheeks · 12/12/2015 17:53

Well done, Sweet and Thursday!

We had a VERY low turnout, and I was scanning so my fingers were freezing. Only a couple of soggy non-scanning barcodes though ;-)

I must check out who's doing Christmas and NY runs.

standingonlego · 12/12/2015 17:59

I was a no show today too after a good few weeks of attendance. DH epic hangover meant I was on taxi duty for him and DCs for hockey. Good news though...still managed a cheeky nearly 7 miler whilst they trained.

Hope you have defrosted now melanie cheeks and well done everyone who made it to both start and finish lines, sweet and thursday go you :)

steppemum · 12/12/2015 22:31

well done thursday! I take my hat off to you lot who run while pregnant.

Managed 38 this morning, not a pb, but comfortably inside the 40 which is all that matters.
It stayed dry, but very muddy underfoot, there was a barefoot runner, and it made me shiver just looking at his cold feet!

I tried to get a good night's sleep, in bed asleep at 11:30, alarm set for 8. good sleep to knock the throat on the head.
dd came in at 5:45, she had been to the loo several times and didn't feel well. I tucked her in next to me, she was frozen, and she snuggled in and went to sleep, so of course I couldn't sleep any more!

Ds decided not to run (he has run twice at school this week though) which was handy, as dh and I could both go and leave dd at home with him.

cinnamongreyhound · 13/12/2015 08:25

We were the same MelanieCheeks, only 46 yesterday. It was cold AND wet Sad

Well done ThursdayLastWeek, I miss my bump so don't wish it away! Ds3 was 8 months on Thursday Sad

Well done sweetvparsley and steppemum! And standingonlego on your 7 miles.

Did you make it Chutneypig?

Welcome wtfmummy.

I ran the first lap and then walked with the last guy. He said he'd run the first half a mile and then was walking, he must have done it quickly as I didn't catch him until close to the end of the first lap. We had two turn up late who I stopped and waited for but then soon caught up walking man. Horrible weather to be walking though! Really didn't want to go back out in the rain but the medal called me, managed a 55m 20 10k Xmas Grin and this medal.

love the medal!

MelanieCheeks · 13/12/2015 08:39

Lovely bling!

I'm off to a canicross event this morning. It's fancy dress, and since it takes place in a Game of Thrones film location, Minnie and
I are going as 3-eyed ravens. It's very frosty outside - I guess Winter is Coming!

MelanieCheeks · 13/12/2015 16:04

Not great pics - M was NOT impressed with the elastic holding her extra eye, so I had to keep a hand on her, and therefore couldn't stretch out my wings to show them off. I DID manage a few flying poses during the race itself, and my John Snow collar kept me nice and warm. M's feathers stayed in place remarkably well, but she was still very cold, poor thing.
