So, we seem to have filled up the 4th thread. Anyone want to join me here?

OP posts:
ditavonteesed · 24/05/2015 12:20

I have set the end of june as my date for park run Shock it would be so easy for me as I live just opposite the park and it is at a really convieient time, 2 neighbours also want to go and dh will watch all the kids, That will mean one of my weekly runs is always facctored in.

notnownoonoo · 24/05/2015 12:50

i could look for some support bandages didn't think of that! Trainers are bought recently, nike running trainers, i tend to overpronate which has given me bad shin splints in the past but these are for flat arch which i think are helping my technique, i'll probably try.

DontDoItDi · 24/05/2015 19:22

notno I worry about my knee joints too. I found these knee stretch exercises on the NHS website and I’ve decided to do them on the days I’m not running.

AppleSnapple · 24/05/2015 22:48

I managed my w6r1 in the French sun today, zut alors it was a bit hot but I'm hoping it will go someway towards cancelling out the delicious pain au chocolat j had for breakfast, not to mention lunch and dinner... Grin happy days. DH thought I was a bit manic afterwards, I get so euphoric having finished a run, already looking forward to (and simultaneously slightly dreading) next one... You can see why people say running is addictive! Fab time in the park run locket, wish there was one near me! Have signed up for race cor life instead in July.

notnownoonoo · 25/05/2015 17:59

thanks dontdoit they look good Smile

bangbangprettypretty · 25/05/2015 18:07

I started YET AGAIN week 1 run 1 today but I am determined to see it through this time!

DontDoItDi · 25/05/2015 18:14

That sounds lovely applesnapple especially the sunshine and pain au chocolat Envy Glad you enjoyed the run too.

I'm trying some of the knee exercises notnow but not all of them, some look a bit tough for me.

Go for it bangbang, you can do it!

malefridgeblindness · 25/05/2015 18:14

I tried a new route today for w7d2. It had a killer hill halfway though and I ended up walkingHmm. I'll redo it on Thursday with the old boring route but I'd like to conquer the hill too

SwingingBalls · 25/05/2015 19:40

I did w3r1 last night. I feel better running in the evening as my joints "warm" up as the day goes on. I'm too stiff to run in a morning. I found it a little tough going as, approx 5 minutes in, I had the urge to go to toilet Blush. I might redo this one to make myself feel better.
Considering I'm a regular at Body Combat and Spinning, this is proving to be a good challenge.

goingtobefree · 25/05/2015 22:53

W3r1 done, was very tough.
Planning to do w3r2 tomorrow, have been dreading the 3 minute run.

crje · 25/05/2015 22:58

W4 R1 tonight

Bloody pelvic floor will hold me back Sad
Anyone got any tips .
Goal date is 19 June

McButtonwillow · 26/05/2015 16:12

Can I join? I'm due to go for W3 R1 tonight and I'm a bit nervous. I usually run in the mornings after the school run but as dc are on half term I'm having to change to evening runs this week when dh gets home. I'm worried I won't have enough energy and the place where I usually run is going to be much busier. I find other people/dogs a distraction when I'm concentrating hard on getting through each running interval.

AppleSnapple · 26/05/2015 17:23

Hi mcbutton- totally agree with you that other ppl are an unwelcome distraction- I isually speed up when I see people which is definitely a bad thing!

Have just completed w6r2 and found it so difficult, am totally deflated. How on earth will I run 25 mins non stop on Thursday?

Upon reflection I probably shouldn't have done a run having had risotto and a glass of wine for lunch, but I had forgotten til after I started! Legs felt like lead the whole way round and are jelly like now. Hey ho, o wards and upwards, and no more day time holiday drinkies on run days!!! Blush

DontDoItDi · 26/05/2015 18:30

Sympathies apple. It’s really hard to tell how a run will go. Week 6 run 3 was fine - 25 minutes – but Week 7 run 1 was hellish - also 25 minutes. No difference except W7r1 was a hotter day and later in the day with more traffic around.

Anyway, enjoy a well-earned big glass of French Wine now. I hope Thursday’s run goes nicely for you.

SwingingBalls · 26/05/2015 20:48

I'm not having much luck this week. Did w3r2 but something went wrong with the app and it cancelled itself before the last 3 minute run Sad I decided to run/walk until I reached home instead. I'll redo it on Thursday as it's showing incomplete on my app. I was also having trouble with my top riding up and my leggings falling down so I wasn't comfortable when I was jogging.

Apple squiffy jogging not recommended then? Wine

Hobby2014 · 26/05/2015 21:29

Can I join? I'm very new to it...I did W1R1 tonight.

My story: I need to lose weight desperately.
Was almost 18st just before having my DS 9 months ago. Have since lost 4 stone (some via birth he was 11lb 7oz and then eating right).
But I fell off the wagon and stopped losing (although not gaining) and am sitting at top end of 13st.
I have a holiday in about a month and then go back to work in less than 3 months and don't want to feel massive (although always been big so I'm not trying to get tiny - just would like to be less than I was before I was pregnant so around 10-11st will be good and then I can go from there)

So here I am, watching what I'm eating and starting this C25K. Hi Smile

HookedOnHooking · 26/05/2015 21:51

Hello. Can I join in. I did wk3 run2 this morning. So far do good.

Looking at the weeks ahead freaks me out a bit.

I'm also trying not to remember drunkenly entering the ballot for london 2016.

knittedslippersx2 · 26/05/2015 21:57

Hello
I'm starting tomorrow W1R1.
I'm dreading that I'm going to look like a completely unfit, sweating lump!
But still going to do it anyway......

Noteventhebestdrummer · 26/05/2015 21:59

Could anyone recommend good running shoes? Cheapish?

IDoAllMyOwnStunts · 26/05/2015 22:33

Hi folks. Well I was supposed to be doing Wk7r2 tonight. But got in a muddle with Strava and C25k app which I must have switched off by accident.

Thought Laura hadn't spoken to me for ages. Had to stop as it was getting pitch black. Checked Strava and I'd been running for 36:22 and did 5.5k according to Strava. Grin What an idiot!

IDoAllMyOwnStunts · 26/05/2015 22:37

Re running shoes I picked up some Nike running shoes for 30 quid from Sports Direct and they've been great.

And welcome to everyone starting out. Honestly don't worry about the weeks ahead. Just follow the app and you will do it! It really works. Smile

scaryg · 26/05/2015 23:39

Just getting into this whole look after myself properly malarky!

Did W1R2 this morning, got up at 6.20 and was back before DP and DD had woken up - oh I felt virtuous. Using Endomondo I apparantly did 4 km in 34 minutes, I'm well chuffed with that, so thinking of doing a parkrun mid July and aiming to do it in 25 minutes.

addictedtosugar · 27/05/2015 08:02

Welcome All!

Cheep shoes: the most important thing is they fit, so I'd go to a discount sports shop (sports direct, much as I hate them, are pretty good round here for shoes), and try them on. Buy at least half a size bigger than normal shoes.
My local sports direct also has a heat sensitive mat to stand on, and the image of your feet tells you about your arch, and then divides shoes by flat feet and arched feet.

Kintted Don't worry about anyone else. Anyone who runs will understand, and anyone who doesn't, well who cares! You've got off your arse, and are doing something they can't!

Nice one, Stunts Thats very impressive.

Scary Massive kudos for trying to get under 30 mins for a park run. That would be phenominal!

I´m really chuffed every time I have finished my run - I´m alive! :D knitted, don´t worry :) I probably look like a bright sweaty lump, but I don´t care, I´m doing this for myself and I´m feeling good :)

I have done a longer warmup walk every time now and on Monday I visited an orthopedist who advised me to get some insoles. So I did and my feet feel much better :) Less chance to damage my joints, I hope :) (I have had problems with my knees and back, previously).

ditavonteesed · 27/05/2015 15:11

week 7 finsished, really hard run today, I decided to go somewhere I hadn't been before and the path was really really uneven and there was a massive hill, but I did it yay.
