HalleLouja · 04/04/2015 12:49

112.19 includes my Parkrun today. I am enjoying my reduced mileage at the moment. Will build it up again but no HMs until November now.

emummy I had a day off last Sunday it was bliss. Especially as it was the worst weather on a Sunday is a very long time.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 04/04/2015 13:14

3.1 parkrun miles from me makes 115.29

I took a whole 5 minutes + off my PB for that particular course Easter Grin

3.1 park run from me so 118.3 is that right?

I knocked just under 2 minutes off for that course which surprised me as I felt like I really struggled and had to walk a couple of times!

I think it's a mental thing at the minute, I'm constantly thinking how crap I am while I'm running and it's making things feel harder then they are if that makes sense.

Well done Oh that's brilliant.

Sazorchard31 · 04/04/2015 14:49

2.5 from me this morning, lovely in the sunshine!

120.8

Well done those taking time off their park run times!!

ImBrian · 04/04/2015 14:49

Just quickly caught up on thread.

Runforthehills so hill running helps a lot then? I'm rubbish at hills at the minute, they suck the life out of me. I'll have to do some running up and down (very slowly) of my closest one and see if that helps.

I have to wear pants, my leggings go a but see through if I bend over and I'd like to save people that sight! I don't run far and no chaffing in cheap asda bikini pants. Someone once said aldi do mesh knickers that are great to run in!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 04/04/2015 15:01

Well done Brian it is so satisfying to see times come down, especially if you don't feel as though you are doing that well.

Just looked back through my garmin and fund that my slowest minute today was faster than my fastest one the last time I did that course Smile. I have been running 3 or 4 times a week since January and it has made a real difference. Although not intentionally I have also kicked my Friday night white wine habit - I did Dry January, which morphed into Dry Lent so have not had a drink since NYE - which must also have helped my parkrun times Smile

I don't think the evidence states that autoimmune conditions can be caused by stress, only that it can increase susceptibility or perhaps be a factor in allowing the expression of a genetic susceptibility

yes, we are in agreement Emummy thats what I meant when I said autoimmune problems can be triggered by stress, or to put it another way stress can be one factor which leads them to manifest.

Afaik autoimmune conditions are not especially well understood so we dont really have a definitive theory

cinnamongreyhound · 04/04/2015 15:58

Well done ImBrian, hill sessions we do a training (although I havenet been for a while) usually involve running up at close to full effort and recovering down. We have one session which I hate which is run hard to 1st lamp post and recover down, then second, third, fourth, fifth with the recovery down being the same distance as effort and then fourth, third, second and first again iyswim. As I haven't been to training for over a year I can't remember exactly how the other go but usually some kind of pyramid of effort up to maximum, sometimes distance sometimes time and then back down but the effort is always up the hill with recovery down. Or one where we get to a point and drop sonething then the next effort you get 10/15 sec less to get to the same point, repeated. You can probably find many training sessions on line. I have quite a short stride so hills are usually my strong point in a race, training definitely helps though!

EdithDickie · 04/04/2015 17:12

Totally know what you mean about the thinking you're crap making it all feel harder Brian. Am stuck on a bit of a self hatred loop at the moment when running, I'm a fool for entering the events I have etc. Definitely need to snap out of it!

I have 3 miles to add today. Horrendous treadmill miles! How does anyone manage regular treadmill runs??! Soooooooooooo hard!

I did test drive the head torch though ready for the 24 hour endurance thing next month. Surprisingly comfortable!

EdithDickie · 04/04/2015 17:12

123.8

Cinnamon, high cholesterol is a symptom of thyroid disease. I found the organisation Thyroid UK really helpful when I was looking for info. It does run.in.families and threes, I have two autoimmune thyroid conditions and Addisons, my mum and sister have another selection!

No miles from me today, I have a house full of sleepover kids and a Chinese takeout tonight, so I'd better do a long run tommorrow! The school holidays have played havoc with my schedule and wine consumption.

PoppyShakespeare · 04/04/2015 18:35

ah I also had madly high cholesterol

PoppyShakespeare · 04/04/2015 18:37

but not last time I don't think

ImBrian · 04/04/2015 19:16

Cinnamon thanks for that, I'll try that pyramid hill of hell thing later in the week though my effort will be getting up the hill in the first placeWink. How are you feeling? Any baby signs?

So do short strides up hills help? I'm 5'11 with a long stride so maybe I'm not helping matters.

I'm running tomorrow, going to try listening to music to drown out the negative voices and distract myself.

Thanks for the support everyoneEaster Smile

Well done Brianand Ohone for knocking minutes off your Park Run times. 5 mins is A LOT over a 5km course.
5 miles from me today, lovely guests left the gites really clean and tidy so cleaning didn't take quite as long as I thought and I had time for a run with the dog before picking up DS from football tournament.
Blood results are all OK, I'm not menopausal and iron is fine. The only thing different is the TSH level which is 0.6 down from 1.2 but it is still within the 'normal' level (0.4 - 4).
Hill running helps a lot for everything!
128.8

PoppyShakespeare · 04/04/2015 21:36

did they just check TSH or t4/t3 too? Would be interesting to know if they are up

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 04/04/2015 22:59

Thank you Anglaise, although I should have been clearer - the previous time for that parkrun was horrendously slow because it was very muddy back in January. My overall 5k time is not improving Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 05/04/2015 11:40

So that's my last miles to add for a while, leisurely 4 in the spring shine which seems to have disappeared now! 132.8

Will pop in and see how you're doing and post once baby has arrived Easter Smile
Happy Easter everyone!

emummy · 05/04/2015 11:50

Well done cinnamon, good luck for next week, hope all goes well.

8 miles from me this morning, an absolutely beautiful day; pretty much had the town to myself at 7:30!

141
Happy Easter everyone!

Anglaise1 · 05/04/2015 12:25

Cinnammon yes good luck for next week, keep us posted when baby arrives Flowers
Poppy no the doctor didn't ask for T3 or T4 levels, given that the TSH is within the normes albeit on the low end of the scale I don't know if he will.
8 miles with club today, there weren't many of us but after the 900m intervals at least I can tuck into my Lindt chocolate bunny with a clear conscience Easter Grin
