Just saw the old thread was nearly full and didn't want us to run out Grin

Beautiful morning!! Lost little dog for longer than I would have liked but she came back! Think she's missed her freedom.

4 miles from me 10.31 fastest and 11.20 slowest but still miles and I still enjoyed myself. Planning a Sunday morning trot out as dh wants to go to a dog show Monday and I think a run and a day walking around isn't a great idea the day whereas Sunday we're just going to my mums for lunch Smile

Never thought I'd add to Aprils total but here it is!! 31

cinnamongreyhound · 02/04/2015 07:26

And will do karate kimmi Easter Smile

ImBrian · 02/04/2015 08:30

Thanks for all the crap run support Smile I'm going to go do a shorter run either tonight or tomorrow so hopefully a bit easier!

I've got a 10k in a month so hoping to be able to do that distance a little more comfortably.

Good luck cinnamon hopefully baby puts an appearance in soon for you.

stilllearnin · 02/04/2015 08:34

I'm off to drink beer today and possibly eat chips on the beach! Good luck with the Easter bunny cinnamon!

emummy · 02/04/2015 12:41

That sounds like a good day still, have fun!
Intervals from and actually quite enjoyed it! Am I getting fitter or not running fast enough? Hmm! Anyway 4.8 miles, so 35.8

suzannecallmestan · 02/04/2015 16:28

1.5 barefoot treadmill miles from me
37.3

the hoka one one shoes arrived but they are too tight:(
have returned and ordered the next size up
my foray into max cushioned running will have to wait a little longer

my feet must be spreading, I guess that's just normal as you get older and very probably accentuated by running

actiongirl1978 · 02/04/2015 16:43

Wow cinnamon, good work! Looking forward to a cute photo also!

Thank you all lovely people for your support and anglaise it was so nice to know I was missed!

I have had a physio recommended and I am seeing her on Tuesday morning so fingers crossed she gives me good news! I only have 100 available (that isn't labelled childrens new shoes or easter treats Grin so I hope I don't need many repeat visits.

It turns out hat my non sporty Dh had physio when he was playing rugby years ago, so he seems to think it is a good idea too - makes me feel less guilty about using the cash ifyswim?

In the meantime my weights yesterday and the gardening have given me am adequate DOMS experience and tomorrow I am going on the cross trainer if it doesn't hurt, until I sweat and feel some manner of endorphin. The ww seating shouldn't be too tricky as we are out drinking tonight so I may be hungover...

stillearnin yay to chips. We are camping in a few weeks and chips are on the list!

ohone thanks for your support, I think I get that 8 miles is better than 3 small runs. There is time to sink into the groove of the run, long enough to go in a different direction or route each time and gives a chunky calorie burn to aid with a Sunday dinner or treat meal!

emummy I occasionally find intervals fun. Sometimes I go faster than I thought possible, I think you may be getting fitter Wink

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 02/04/2015 17:34

Well done cinnamon, take it easy now and look forward to your bundle arriving.

Glad you are seeing a physic actiongirl make sure you report back.

Shame about the shoes suzanne Sad

Enjoy your beer and chips still

Excellent work emummy I keep meaning to do intervals and never get around to it.

Rest day for me, but I have been out on my bike and had coffee and cake with one of my parkrun friends who has become a proper friend

Suzanne my feet used to be really narrow pre running. Now they are wide with bunions and other bone protrusions, deformed toes and I have problems finding shoes wide enough to cope with all of that.
Action So pleased you have made an appointment with a physio - do you have to pay for that in the UK? Here it free as long as you have a doctor's prescription for the number of sessions required. Otherwise it is around 21€ per session.
Cinnamon I hope baby arrives soon for you.
7 miles from me today, had my lessons cancelled last minute this afternoon so was able to run with my friends. No rain either.
Went to see the doctor as I've been feeling really stupidly knackered and tearful at the moment. Not sure it is it a) the pressure of work (I teach as well as look after my gites, pool, garden and also the house of a friend) b) the start of the menopause (no period for a few months now) or c) the post marathon blues. Or maybe all three.
Have a good Easter weekend everyone, here in France we don't have tomorrow off, just Monday. But we do have the chocolate Grin

Anglaise1 · 02/04/2015 20:10

44.3 Blush

emummy · 02/04/2015 20:31

Sorry you're not feeling so great Anglaise, hope the doctor can be of some help. Well done for still running despite it all!

suzannecallmestan · 02/04/2015 20:51

I can only assume that the majority of running shoes are sold to people who are lowish on mileage....otherwise they would have to cater for those of us with running induced foot spread.
A few brands do a wider fitting but they never seem to be available in the UK , this pic shows what feet look like without the deforming influence of shoes.
Very hard to find shoes that let your feet spread out like that, vibrams are pretty good but for me they dont have enough cushioning for running any distance on hard surfaces

suzannecallmestan · 02/04/2015 20:53

Does sound like a combination of all 3 Anglaise
Menopause has just made me even more curmudgeonly than I was before it

Sirzy · 02/04/2015 20:55

1.5 miles yesterday and 2.5 today.

48.3

Anglaise1 · 02/04/2015 21:12

emummy running the only thing which makes me feel good so no problem in doing it, which maybe part of the problem, I spend too much time doing that and not enough on things I hate (like sitting down and doing the admin and accounts).
Suzanne lol, apart from being more curmudgeonly, did you suffer any other side effects from the menopause? I used to be able to remember everything on my to do list in my head easily... but now need to write things down Confused

suzannecallmestan · 02/04/2015 21:28

I've not noticed any shifts in cognitive ability Anglaise, I think a reduced ability to cope with stress, but I seemed to anticipate it and (over the course of a few years) prepared by booting out all the things and people that make me feel stressed.
the more I got things how I wanted them, the more I felt unwilling to put up with any shit or do anything I dont want to.
(Long process though)

If I had a stressful life I think I wouldnt cope at all well
IME stress really messes with your ability to think clearly and rationaly

runtothehills · 02/04/2015 21:35

Hi on a bit of a high! Just did local club handicap race round local forest trail and came in first knocking 1 minute off my last time and getting my first sub 24 min 5k Grin.

Am celebrating with a Wine and some Cake.

Anglaise sorry to her you're a bit down, I agree running does give you a good natural high like not much else can, and with work, life and age-related changes I think its good to have something that helps you unwind. Maybe setting some new goals, can imagine marathon was such a big aim that it's a bit strange not having it anymore Flowers and Easter Smile.

cinnamongreyhound · 02/04/2015 23:34

Did they take blood Anglaise1? Could be anaemia, lots of miles does have a big affect on iron levels I've been told. Hope you get some answers soon though, life is tough enough without feeling like something it making it tougher. Dh has just been diagnosed with under active thyroid and it seems it could have been causing a lot of other issues he has but it can take some time to get the thyroxin dose right.

Anglaise1 · 03/04/2015 06:30

Runforthehills congrats on your 5k PB, sub 24 on a forest trail is excellent!
I'm not feeling really down, just a bit under pressure - doing a lot of things and none of them very well!
Cinnamon having blood tests this morning. I had an iron deficiency and near anaemia in October and now religiously take an iron supplement and spirulina every day to avoid having the same problem. Funny you should mention the thyroid the doctor wants to do tests for that too.
I'm going to do a HM next weekend, it will be interesting to see how it feels after a marathon. A lot shorter, that's certain!

Neeko · 03/04/2015 07:54

That's amazing Runtothehills. Well done!

Cinnamon hope all goes well and baby doesn't keep you waiting.

Actiongirl hope the physio sorts you out. You should try to get referred to NHS physio too. It takes a while but would be worth it for a check back.

Happy Easter everyone.

Neeko · 03/04/2015 07:57

Anglaise that's good that you're being tested. Much better to rule things out. Hope you feel back to your old self again soon.

Whowouldfardelsbear · 03/04/2015 08:27

Thanks for the welcome all! familygerms I am in Wellington in a nice flat suburb.

Well I've gone and entered the 10k race in the Wellington marathon on July 5th. So I downloaded the 10k training app and am on my way!

Really really good run this evening - managed 4.08 miles which makes us 52.38 I felt like I could have carried on, so the 10k actually feels manageable by July Grin

Sadly our clocks go back tomorrow so will be running in the dark from now on except at weekends.

Off for a nice bubbly bath now.

ImBrian · 03/04/2015 08:53

Runforthehills that's brilliant, if you don't mind how long have you been running to get your time down to that?

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 03/04/2015 09:00

Well done runtothehills that's really brilliant Smile

Anglaise - hope the bloods come back OK. You sound really busy, but with stuff that might not be as fun or rewarding as running Smile. When I did my marathon I was really looking forward to getting my life back after all the training, but all it did was create more room in my life for the irksome things I'd been ignoring because I didn't make have time. I was a bit "now what?" for a few weeks - I didn't want to do another marathon, but nor did I want to do the stuff that had been piling up Smile

cinners sorry to hear about DH's thyroid. My DS1 has a number of autoimmune conditions, one of which is an underachieve thyroid (Hashimoto's hypothyroidism). As long as he takes his thyroxine regularly and at the right dose he feels fine - he really notices it if he skips a few days for any reason. Of all his autoimmune conditions the thyroid is the easiest to manage.

Well done Whowould, sounds like you had a good run.

It's a bit drizzly and damp here but I shall go out later.
