Hi Whowouldfardelsbear!

Pants karatekimmi, my running friend stopped at 16 weeks because she could feel her bump all the time! Did you go to the Thomas bit? I liked that Smile

I don't know about the amazing bit OhOneOhTwoOhThree! I was induced with both ds's but 2 weeks overdue. Ds2 was much quicker though. I won't run on induction day, don't want to be knackered for the day but may pop out Easter sunday Wink

phlebasconsidered · 31/03/2015 18:18

6.5 miles from me in 40mph winds and alternating hail and sun. Weirdly, it was my best time yet at 1.09.10. At one point I was running on the spot in the wind. I feel more hopeful for my 10k on the 12th now. Do you think I should taper, or do people not bother for "short" runs? I was planning to do another 3.1 and 4.5 miles this week, plus a 2, 4, 5 and then the 6.1 (10k) race next week.

And cinnamon, I am in AWE. By the time I got to induction with ds, I was constantly furious, with feet 2 sizes bigger then normal with water, and barely able to shuffle let alone run. By dd, a mere 14 mo later, I was able to do everything, but was too bloody knackered to run anyway.

cinnamongreyhound · 31/03/2015 18:24

Well I have wussed out of going tonight! My two friends aren't goig and I don't know everyone else that well. It hideously windy and I've had a hectic day, plans to go with friend Thursday am which I'm sure I will stick to and will go for a long Walk now with doggies instead and have dinner with my boys all together.

phlebasconsidered · 31/03/2015 18:32

Don't blame you, it is FOUL out there. I bet you will get going before induction. DS was induced and it took 2 days, but dd popped out in a very rapid twenty minutes, most of it in the car on the way to the hospital (her notes say she was delivered 25 seconds after getting through the door, they literally threw me into the nearest room!) the night before I was due to be induced again. I bet the baby will be a "jiggler" rather than a "rocker" IYSWIM, because of all your running.

emummy · 31/03/2015 19:43

I do taper phlebas, just to feel nice and energized for the race. Good luck!

phlebasconsidered · 31/03/2015 20:07

Right, I will taper then! It fits in nicely with my visiting friends over Easter, I wasn't sure I would be able to fit in the runs anyway! The real problem will be tapering the wine...

Anglaise1 · 31/03/2015 21:03

Cinnamon you are doing way more than most women would at your time...don't even think about feeling guilty for not running in the wind. Enjoy your family time and dogs in peace while you can.
Phlebas you are doing more than enough for a 10k, you really don't even need to do runs as long as 6 miles! We taper a little for a 10k in my club, but only the week before. Usual training until the Tuesday, then Thursday or Friday the last run of 40 mins jog plus 10 lignes droit (straight lines, so around 10 x 130m at a faster pace, but with your legs high not at full speed to relax). Never run the day before a 10k if you can help it. And enjoy Easter!
7 miles for me, very high winds but no rain. Followed by a drink to celebrate the marathon with the club.

Wind has really died down today and it's a gorgeous day! Children all day so will stick to my Thursday morning plan and hope it stays nice Grin

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 01/04/2015 08:32

It is lovely here too. I was planning a day off today, and a longish run tomorrow, but have just had a look at all the things I need to do tomorrow and I will struggle to fit a run in. So plan B is a shortish run today, rest tomorrow and a long run on Friday Smile

Tomorrow is meant to pour all day in these ere parts.

1.25 from me. Have a race on Friday but I haven't signed up I still trying to motivate myself to do it.

suzannecallmestan · 01/04/2015 09:12

some of my best runs have been in the rain!

ImBrian · 01/04/2015 10:11

cinnamon wow you're doing brilliantly, I only took up running after having ds and can't imagine doing it before.

I did 5.5 miles of pure hell last night, it was really windy, bit hilly, hadn't eaten enough and had to walk a few times. I was right at the back of my group who were flying along and tbh I almost cried and never wanted to run again I felt so crap.

I'm hoping it was so had because I'd had a week off and it was windy. I'm debating dropping down into a slower pack in the hope it gives my confidence a boost but the leaders want me to stay in the fast group. I just feel so unfit compared to them!

So I'm on a right downer with myself, going to go out tomorrow night and hopefully if I get out a few times it'll feel easier at the next club session.

Sorry for whinging ladies (and gents), hubby shows no interest in my running so no one to complain too.

emummy · 01/04/2015 11:08

Sorry you had a bad time ImBrian. At least you did it though. We all have runs that are miserable, sometimes I feel I've gone backwards and got less fit! You're doing the right thing by going out again and not giving up.
And you can whinge on here anytime, we understand!

emummy · 01/04/2015 11:09

No running today, did boot camp. She made us sprint up a very steep hill - the sort you need to run on your toes- several times. Thighs not amused!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 01/04/2015 11:32

Looks like we are going to be fine today and tomorrow, and wet on Friday. So will go out this afternoon for a bit in case I can't run on Friday Smile

Brian I tend to find that there's often a good run waiting to come out after a bad one. Some of my worst runs have been short ones that I was expecting to be the easy ones Smile. You will only get fitter if you keep pushing yourself!

emummy I have been watching a bootcamp this morning while doing a bit of work (my front room faces straight on to a park). It looks like hard work, and that is without hills!

Hello and welcome to my happy post. I am adding just 2 miles - but through the local woods. My PITA is not too affected so far. about to get on the tennis balls though which is just my favourite place to be anyway. I also realised just how close it is to the school run for my day off. I had forgotten just how much it affects my mood when I do not exercise. I have been just so miserable.

Am i first.

So starting off with an earth shattering 2 miles hopefully it'll be increased very soon! But I am happy to be back at least.

stilllearnin · 01/04/2015 13:29

Iambrian I am with you with the lack of someone to whinge or talk to. I am completely surrounded by endurance runners and teens training for team GB. I know we have the same issues but I am too embarrassed to talk with them. DP was a marathoner (and speedy too), and although he is kind I think he finds my 3-5 milers a bit pointless! Well done for deciding to get back out there.

suzannecallmestan · 01/04/2015 13:38

alright then I shall do the mathematics...

ImBrian 5.5

stilllearnin · 01/04/2015 13:43

oh soz - thought we were starting again for April?

suzannecallmestan · 01/04/2015 13:46

I ran in trail shoes with a 4mm drop and the PITA was considerably reduced,

it felt quite a bit harder and I was a bit slower, with my other (12mm drop) shoes it feels as if the heel gives some help by propelling me off the ground.

I plan on doing regular short treadmill runs in my vibrams in the hope that it will keep my foot muscles working properly and help with running posture

(or am I just being fanciful and ascribing magical powers to shoesBlush )

suzannecallmestan · 01/04/2015 13:47

My mum shares your name Suzanne - we used to sing Suzanne is a funny old man - with some weird snorting sound in the man bit. Like most families I have no idea where that came from! (for your next nn)
