Happy parkrun everyone. That was quite a good one. Purposely went out to finish fast.

There was someone who kept sprinting off every time I went near her. However at the end I flat bit I went for it and left her far behind Grin. It was quite funny actually as she would sprint every time I got to her shoulder. I would then catch up and so on it went.

ThursdayLast · 11/07/2015 11:59

Glad you beat her Halle! I had something similar today, but with a boy who can't possibly have been 12 but was deffo running in his own. He was running just close enough to me to be annoying, but whenever I tried to speed up just to get past him, he did too. And then a bit further on he actually would sprint the walk til I was at his shoulder then sprint again Angry

I laughed and said
'You're a cheeky bugger aren't you? I'll catch you up!'
Which obviously scared him coz he sped off up the hill Grin

I was slow, but I have a secret...I got a positive POAS this week!

HalleLouja · 11/07/2015 12:29

Well done Thursday on scaring the kid and the positive poas. Mainly scaring the kid. Grin Well it is a parkrun thread. I haven't had someone purposely do that to me before so it was good to pass her.

LornMowa · 11/07/2015 12:32

Congratulations Thursday! Wonderful news.

There was a cute little lad at our run today. He only looked about 6. His dad was carefully guiding him and encouraging him to pace himself at the right speed. They passed me easily today as I took it really slow after a poor night's sleep.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 11/07/2015 13:19

Congratulations Thursday, another thread baby Grin

Well done Halle

I am worn out with clapping and cheering Grin

Oh yay! Congratulations ThursdayLast!!!!!!! So know your 2015 is complete Wink I think I got my bfp around this time so must be an April baby or late March?

Well done HalleLouja, my parkrun arch enemy is like that it's very annoying!

I ran at home today and it was hot! Lovely mostly chatting to our little 8 year old so not massively fast but quicker than last week Wink

feetheart · 11/07/2015 22:45

Oooo, exciting Thursday :)

We had our first parkrun curry night last night and then our second takeover by the local baptist church today. We were tripping over volunteers which is lovely. I did some of the photography (DS had put himself down as photographer but I wanted to make sure there were pictures if he got bored/distracted!) It was a lovely way to see a different side of our parkrun.
We had a few green runners Blathers though I think they were slightly hungover :)

MelanieCheeks · 11/07/2015 23:35

Bit hungover myself after celebrating my daughters graduation yesterday! But I did make it to glorious bushy park, which is delightfully fiat and very picturesque. Experienced my first ever post parkrun car queue....

chutneypig · 12/07/2015 06:45

I'm Shock at people behaving like that Halle and Thursday. I'm glad Ive not come across it but I don't think I present a massive challenge to anyone Grin Well done on showing them up.

But mostly congratulations on the good news Thursday. So pleased for you!

I always get sore hands volunteering ohone, and that's just at the juniors. Must be far more clapping for the full event!

I have one eight year old who I wouldn't see for dust if he didn't have to stay with me. He's much happier now DH has started. The other eight year old I'm sure could be faster based on her 2k time but she does like to potter along for the 5k but it's nice like you said cinnamon. I'd miss not having one of them, but I have been promised a parkrun by myself to see how I'm really doing time wise. I'm not sure I'm at my best in the summer heat!

We missed yesterday, just juniors today. DS has been asking every night to go for a run as he wants to come in under nine minutes today. Fingers crossed!

ThursdayLast · 12/07/2015 07:10

Thank you for all your congratulations everyone!
Tis early days so only DH and the whole of mumsnet know now Grin

Yes cinnamon my calculations give me an edd of mid March - as I have family birthdays on the 1st, 6th, & 8th April and our anniversary on the 11th I'm v relieved to have got that BFP this month - I'm not sure I can do another April event!

I have a 10k in August and a hm in September I'm hoping to still complete but after that I'll see how it goes it think!

Good running (and clapping) yesterday everyone!
And congratulations to not-so-mini melanie Wine

WeLoveHaribo · 12/07/2015 20:18

I did my first parkrun on Saturday, with a time of 29mins my watch said it was my best 5k Grin
Really pleased. Not used to the 'race' atmosphere and enjoyed it. Thought was fast, wasn't expecting to go off so quickly so I did tire quick! But held it for most of run. I'm training for 10km in sept so hoping to do more parkruns.

ThursdayLast · 12/07/2015 20:22

Well done Haribo and welcome to the park side...

You'll be addicted now, along with the rest of us - that's a really great time, it's easy to get carried away amongst other runners isnt it?

WeLoveHaribo · 12/07/2015 20:27

I was pleased with that. I've been running since March with a months injury in June, so still not back 'to where I was'.
I'm a rubbish line runner just give up, but run with friend 2/3 times a week. Enjoyed the parkrun, I'll be back Wink

chutneypig · 12/07/2015 20:37

Well done Haribo. I'm very jealous of that time Smile.

MelanieCheeks · 12/07/2015 23:07

That's a great time haribo! Great news Thursday, and snork at the "park side".

Went for a longish Sunday run today, slipped on a muddy bank and landed in some nettles. Ouch!

officelady · 13/07/2015 06:21

Hi everyone, congratulations Thursday!
I had to go and collect my dd from Uni this weekend, we managed to fit in a Parkrun (Woodhouse Moor in Leeds) in between moving her out of Uni Halls & into her new houseshare. Conveniently the house is only a 2 minute walk from the park. It's a busy Parkrun, 3 laps of the park, I got in just under 29 mins which was fine by me, I wasn't trying too hard, just enjoying the scenery. I did see a gentleman get tripped up by a dog in the most spectacular fashion, luckily he was able to get back on his feet and carry on running. I bet he's got a few nasty bruises though!
I will be volunteering next Saturday at my new local run, I am dying to actually run it (we're on #3 already) but I've got a 10k on the Sunday and need to save my energy because I am ancient

feetheart · 13/07/2015 12:13

officelady - it will be all the sweeter when you do get to run it :)

Ouch to nettles and dog incident :(

Had 5k race in our parkrun park yesterday and it was very weird being there but it being a different set up and different course (and not being responsible for any of it :o)

steppemum · 13/07/2015 20:11

Hi all, logging in late because I am in Geneva (no not name dropping at all not me)

did parkrun, thought I was fast, killed myself to finish and was 40:58, which is half a minute slower than my best time. Was a good run though and much easier than last time, and I recovered quickly so I feel like I am making progress!

Congratulations Thursday! how exciting.

Thanks for all the bra advice, now I need a bra intervention thread to work out which size!

steppemum · 13/07/2015 20:15

must just tell you. I went out for a run yesterday morning. The man at the place I am staying (did I mention I was in Geneva??) said there is a nice 5km round walk and showed me where. It is very hot here, so I went out at 6:30 am, and set off.

2.5 km straight uphill. Over the top then 2.5km straight down.

I think my times were 9:30 min per km going up and 6:30 coming down!

Absolute killer but I ran it. And missed a turn at the bottom of the hill so the final distance 7km, and it is only the second time I have run 7km, and I was fine.

(can't walk now though...)

steppemum · 13/07/2015 20:53

just found it on runkeeper - elevation 169 m, (554 feet)

chutneypig · 14/07/2015 06:28

That's quite an elevation steppe Shock and a great distance to boot. I'm very jealous of your exotic tourism too! Was it a big parkrun?

steppemum · 14/07/2015 18:32

sorry, that wasn't clear, I did parkrun at home and then went away, the hard run was not a parkrun, just me running early one morning. I just needed to boast to someone about it!
