Woo! How exciting to be the last on one thread and the first on another!

OP posts:
familygermsareok · 15/02/2015 10:02

Oh, and re new but same type of running shoes feeling different I did read somewhere that some brands have been reducing the drop in their newer versions without making it clear. I think it was to do with the trend for minimalist shoes and less drop. I'm not very good at linking but I will try and find the article if anyone wants, I think it may have been Runnersworld a while ago.

Knackerelli · 15/02/2015 10:57

Am so behind on this thread! Congrats to all with bumps and I'm in awe of those of you running with babies. Hope those of you feeling crappy get well soon.

5.7 to add this morning ( although I limped the last bit as my hip is still playing up ) so....972.6 + 5.7 = 978.3

AggressiveBunting · 15/02/2015 11:04

There's definitely a trend towards shoes with a reduced drop - I saw a pair of Asics advertised which definitely had something of the Hoka about them- minimal drop and heavily cushioned sole. Whether it'll just be a trend or become a genuine breakthrough in running technology remains to be seen.

Suzannewithaplan · 15/02/2015 11:10

?
Shoe manufacturers want above all to maximize profit, probably the more confused we are about which shoes are best the better!

Suzannewithaplan · 15/02/2015 11:12

Soon we will be able to 3D print shoes which are perfectly tailored to our feet and running style :)

Suzannewithaplan · 15/02/2015 11:14

There will also be sports wear which keeps your body at optimal running temperature whilst monitoring all your bodily functions.

It's going to be great :o ?

cinnamongreyhound · 15/02/2015 11:18

Hi mumonabroom, I'm 33weeks pregnant and hoping to get to running as soon as possible post birth, didn't run at all when I had my others. Welcome to the thread!

I've never run on a treadmill other than for gait analysis AgressiveBunting but I can imagine how boring it would be!

4 miles with canicross club for me, absolutely beautiful morning in the forest this morning. 982.3

Sorelip · 15/02/2015 11:34

987.7

Thank you everyone for the congratulations, on here is possibly the only I'll get what with this being number three Grin I'm waiting for the first trimester lethargy to kick in, but feeling good so far.

Also thanks for the HM advice. I'm going to see how I feel much closer to the time.

Sorelip · 15/02/2015 11:35

Also, belated birthday wishes actiongirl it sounds like a wonderful day.

cinnamongreyhound · 15/02/2015 11:44

We will have a 4.5year gap sorelip, so was expecting lots of comments about an accident but people were quite restrained! Anyone who knew me well knew how much is wanted a third for quite a while but dh had said no so most were very pleased for me. Hope you get a positive response :)

Anglaise1 · 15/02/2015 12:04

Congratulations to all new bumps! None due from me, I'm 50 this year, childbearing years long gone!
13 miles from me today including the 10k race this morning (I did a far too long warm up). My knee held out but I didn't force the pace so ended up with 47m40s which was OK but not as fast as I usually do. I was 2nd Veteran 2 Woman (my friend just beat me to get first place) and well ahead of plenty of men!
I think we've just broken the 1000 mark if my maths is correct
1000.7

AggressiveBunting · 15/02/2015 12:21

Wow anglaise- that's brilliant. Well done, especially with the extra mileage.

ThursdayLast · 15/02/2015 13:29

Adding my lovely 4 miles along part of a local 10k route with my running buddy

1004.7

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 15/02/2015 13:50

Well done Anglaise, amazing time and distance!

5.6 hard won miles from me. I had to stop at one point to scrape the worst of the mud off my trainers with a stick as my feet felt so heavy Smile. I managed to speed up once on the road again, but my whole left side from ankle to hip was niggling so I thought it best to stop.

I really needed the run - perfect storm of work stress, study stress and DH and DC stress in our house this weekend Grin

1010.6

ThursdayLast · 15/02/2015 14:23

I had to paddle in an icy stream last week OhOne for the same reason - I was only half way and there had been cows in gateways that weren't there in the summer! Definitely not a romantic brunch then?

HalleLouja · 15/02/2015 14:50

5.5 of the most horrid hills in cross country. Had to walk up most of the hills and I wasn't the only one. It was actually quicker to walk up the hills than run up them 1016.1.

It was totally brutal but its done now.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 15/02/2015 15:00

Well done Halle as you say it's done now Smile

Thursday Grin I barely stopped eating all day yesterday. I went from pre-run snack, to breakfast, to brunch, to lunch (unplanned but some other parents were going so we tagged along), followed by and afternoon snack, pre dinner snacks and dinner. I felt like the hungry caterpillar, but not a romantic one Grin. All my work and OU deadlines have come at once, along with PMT so the atmosphere is a wee bit heightened in our house Smile.

emummy · 15/02/2015 15:26

Well done Anglaise, great run. And well done everyone else, some good miles today.
6.75 from me on a new route. Sadly all my nice snow covered hills were hiding in the mist so not so scenic, but still very nice, except for the part I ran past the big pile of manure! Also first time I've had to stop to let geese cross the road!
1022.85

runtothehills · 15/02/2015 17:04

Checking in with 10 miles this weekend, 4 Sat and 6 today. Was over visiting family in Aviemore, but unfortunately no pretty views as all in the mist.
Congratulations on your 10k Anglaise hope you enjoyed the soup and veggies. We often get soup and home bakes at the hill races up here with the prizes usually a bottle of wine or crate of beer!
emummy didn't do Hill of Fare last year as had another race the same day, but often do the HM route as a training run. Think you and I are probably quite close in RL.
1032.85

Anglaise1 · 15/02/2015 17:48

Thanks everyone - Runtothehills the veggie soup was the most delicious I've ever had and I'll try and get the recipe!
I was pleased that the 10 days I had off for the knee injury didn't seem to have any negative impact. In fact this time last year for the same race I only ran 9 seconds faster so perhaps a break from all the marathon training did some good. I can highly recommend to anyone else who suffers tendonitis the hammer drill type electroshock treatment I've been having (not all physios use it). It works wonders.
Well done to all of you with your mud, hills and snow runs. My race was on the road, in sunshine and trainers as clean as a whistle afterwards...but streams, hills, mud, fields, trails and forests are much more fun adn rewarding at least when you've finished.

kiwikaterpillar · 15/02/2015 18:54

Apologies all... I have been AWAL for 3 weeks due to a holiday without internet access and then a car.zygote return when back at work. Just checking in with my miles though as I still managed to run 3 times a week. Will now go and read/catch up on what I have missed.
53.2 from me... I think that makes the total 1086.05.

cinnamongreyhound · 15/02/2015 19:01

Fab time Anglaise1!

Cross country is always tough HalleLouja, I always enjoy it though. Glad you got through yours!

Love them image of a hungry caterpillar OhOneOhTwoOhThree Grin

Tiredemma · 15/02/2015 19:57

1036.59

A painful 3.74 miles to add. I dragged myself around

Mayvis · 15/02/2015 20:03

1086.95+3.1= 1090.05

Is that right?

Was a tough run and I couldn't get any positive thoughts going. Just plodded along. It was a new route and I can't remember anything of it because I was so consumed with negative thoughts.

Mayvis · 15/02/2015 20:05

Maths has all gone to pot...

Think total should be

1092.89
