OP posts:
Neeko · 14/02/2015 15:41

Congratulations Sorelip Smile

HalleLouja · 14/02/2015 15:45

7.2 makes 929.65 doing cross country tomorrow. It's supposed to be really hilly. AHhhhh.

Suzannewithaplan · 14/02/2015 15:50

12.74 from me
=942.39

Suzannewithaplan · 14/02/2015 15:53

I'm no great fan of hills either, on the route I run the last mile up to my house is uphill, always a real slog!

ThursdayLast · 14/02/2015 16:49

Congratulations sorelip Thanks
kimmi and cinnamon are our pregnant running enthusiasts currently - perhaps they can give you some advice?

My experience is that I was so wiped out by the first trimester that I lost my fitness. But only you know your own body, just take things easy and see what you can manage.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 14/02/2015 17:27

Congratulations Sorelip!

3.6 early morning miles from me today = 945.99

5madthings · 14/02/2015 17:46

Congratulations. sorelip

Thanks for all the feel bettes, sadly I feel like crap. Luckily mrmadthing is home and I can rest, horrible temp and it looks like madthing5 is coming down with it as well. Thankgod it's half term and we can have some lazy days till we feel better.

cinnamongreyhound · 14/02/2015 18:26

I was 23 weeks when I was due to run a hm Sorelip, I found that the nausea/sickness during the first trimester meant id lost a lot of fitness and got a cold too which didn't help so I wasn't up to 13 miles by then. I had thought I'd just plod round but it was a hideous day and I know I'd just be miserable! I did the round Norfolk relay at 12 weeks and I had a 9 and a bit mile leg that I was supposed to run at 9m 15s miles, didn't quite manage but dos average 9m30's so I was happy! My last half before I got pregnant was May so it had been a while since I'd done much more than 10k. Oh and congratulations Grin

I take it you're not attempting your race tomorrow 5madthings, wishing you all well soon Flowers

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 14/02/2015 18:30

Oh, forgot to say my foam roller has arrived and OMG I LOVE it!

I did my usual post-run yoga stretch followed by the roller and my legs felt as light as a feather.

cinnamongreyhound · 14/02/2015 19:18

As I know some of you are local ish to me I thought I'd post my clubs 10k in May of anyone is interested. It's a lovely route, road race but through the forest on smallish country roads in a lovely village :)

actiongirl1978 · 14/02/2015 19:28

Hi everyone, posting this from my phone. Thank you soo much for all the birthday wishes!!

I have had the best day. We are in Dublin, I had an 9 mile run along the seafront, a swim in the hotel pool, a pot of tea while I had a long hot bath and now off for takeaway with friends.

my right hamstring is screaming though - I wore my new trainers today and even though they are the same model as my others, they feel totally different. My feet were hot while I ran Hmm

So I think they need some wearing in!

good luck to racers this weekend. Anglaise, your race goodies sound fantastic!!
Madthings, I hope you feel better soon
ohoneohtwo - I am so sad, on the way back from the hotel pool in a wet cossie and a damp dressing gown, I nipped into the hotel gym to use the foam roller for my piriformis!

can someone please add my miles?

Suzannewithaplan · 14/02/2015 20:43

running by the sea and swimming sounds like a super birthday Actiongirl :)
bit of a bugger with the shoes though, you'd expect the same model to feel the sameConfused
I've just ordered a duplicate pair of shoes, assuming that they will feel exactly the same as the current pair, now starting to wonderHmm

Suzannewithaplan · 14/02/2015 20:44

oh, and new total is 954.99

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 14/02/2015 21:06

action glad you have had a fab birthday. Sounds smashing Smile

Suzanne if you are like me you will notice the difference even if they are duplicate shoes - in that you will realise how worn out then old ones are and how they have lost their bounce. I now tend to have two or three pairs on the go and rotate them.

Suzannewithaplan · 14/02/2015 21:52

I was hoping ?that extra bounce would be the only difference Ohoneoh!

well that and the fact I ordered a pink pair because they were cheapest - if I'm only going to get two or three months wear out of every pair I can't afford to be fussy.

I guess having a few pair on the go will mean that the cushioning declines more slowly but essentially they will still only be good for the same amount of miles ?

postmanpatscat · 14/02/2015 22:13

Well done neeko and congrats sorelip A lot of bumps on this thread at the minute! (Definitely won't be joining in since I'm almost 47 and sterile!!!)

Mumonabroom · 14/02/2015 23:17

Hi,

Would you mind if I joined you please? I'm a mum of 3, with a 3 month old being the newest addition. I've been running about 5 weeks so far, so only baby steps. Am doing 5k (slow) runs, but really enjoying it. My challenge is to run 5k race at the end of April and then a 10 mile in Oct, with a 10k at some point in between. Aiming to run 3 times a week, but keen to find other exercise ideas too, such as the foam roller and especially anything beneficial for separated ab muscles (diastasis recti). Thanks and congratulations to all the ladies with bumps.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 14/02/2015 23:42

Welcome mumonabroom (hope I got that rightSmile ). Very impressed at your running so soon after giving birth.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 14/02/2015 23:54

Welcome MOAB Smile you are not gate crashing! If you look on the results section of your parkrun it will tell you the finish times of all the runners. But don't worry about being last, there is often a tail runner whose job it is to be last Grin Grin Grin it is a much sought after role at my parkrun!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 14/02/2015 23:56

Sorry, that last post was supposed to be on the parkrun threadGrin

karatekimmi · 15/02/2015 06:49

Congratulations sorelip

I have found it difficult to keep my fitness level up, and have had a fair few lazy weeks in the first trimester. I'm still running but couldn't even think about a HM in a few weeks despite being up to 10-12 mile long runs for marathon training at the end of December. I wouldn'take a decision now, wait and see what you feel like closer to the time, but remember your body is doing all sorts of things at the minute and to look after yourself!!

Neeko · 15/02/2015 08:31

Welcome mumonabroom

I am also so impressed by those of you who are running whilst pregnant or with a little one. It was the last thing on my mind when I was in your position. It makes me wonder if I should have tried harder Grin, but I won't be having another one to find out!

ThursdayLast · 15/02/2015 08:38

The wonderful thing about running with a baby is that when you're 3 miles away, you can't hear them Grin

Looking forward to a leisurely run around Trelissick with my running bud this morning, while the menfolk exercise the toddlers. Pasties for optimum recovery.

AggressiveBunting · 15/02/2015 09:32

Adding 7.5 treadmill miles to make 962.5. God I hate treadmill. I set it for an hour as that's all I can stand and then I look after it after what seems like an interminably long time and it still says 52.58 or something. Can we have a new rule whereby treadmill miles count double? Grin. Anyway, reason I'm doing them is to force me to run a bit faster and there is literally nowhere near where I live which is good for tempo runs because you have to stop for traffic lights etc. or there are massive hills in the way. There is the race course (has a proper running track in the middle) but I suspect that would be even worse than the treadmill.

familygermsareok · 15/02/2015 09:55

Welcome mumonabroom and congratulations sorelip
Glad you had a great birthday action, sounds perfect. Smile

Managed a longer run today, felt sooo good but legs tired now.
10.14 so 972.6

Wildlife watch:
4 deer bounding along effortlessly in the field totally showing off!
Lots of crows destroying the crops the farmer must have just sown
Several dim rabbits who zig zagged frantically along the road in front of me for ages before realising they could just dart into the hedgerow.
Ducks on pond.
Handful of pheasants ( normally see loads, must have been having a lie in this morning)
And a flash of something long, thin and very white. I'm wondering if it was a stoat still in its winter coat. Have seen occasional stoats before but never a white one.
