Woo! How exciting to be the last on one thread and the first on another!

OP posts:
OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 11/02/2015 11:37

3.8 make 708.72

I was going really fast (by my standards) for the first three, but ended up with horrible rib pain so had to jog/walk the last 0.8. But even that was at a faster than many of the slower miles I have run over the years Smile

My foam roller hasn't turned up yet, but I am not tempted to follow Hester's example with the rolling pin Grin

Glad the rehab looks like it is going well Polly but don't overdo it!

cinnamon and 5mad will check the calendar for the Thetford Forest 10K Smile I am looking for some events now that my injuries seem to be out of the way and I am enjoying my running again.

PollyPooic · 11/02/2015 11:47

that 10k looks fun, am up for that

I was a bridesmaid at a wedding in Santon Downham church once :)

HesterShaw · 11/02/2015 12:59

Actually the steak tenderiser rolling pin seems to have been quite effective! No twinges this morning so I decided to go fast. Well it was fast for me. Only did 1.5 miles but it was about 10 minutes I think (there was a walking stretch as I gasped in some salbutamol)

710.22

ThursdayLast · 11/02/2015 13:21

I have been sent the entry forms this morning for the Lanhydrock 10 mile and Trelissick 10k if I can tempt other South Westerly runners to join me?? Wink

4miles from ThursdayDog and I this lunchtime 714.2

HesterShaw · 11/02/2015 13:32

Trelissick will be extremely hilly. I think I need a long time before anything like that!

HesterShaw · 11/02/2015 13:34

Though it's officially described as "undulating". Undulating my arse!

Very pretty though.

ThursdayLast · 11/02/2015 13:48

Yeah it's crazy hilly Hester!
I've been running for 3years now and it was only last year I was brave enough to enter a 10k and Trelissick was my first Shock

You can come cheer me on! It's in August, should be glorious

ThursdayLast · 11/02/2015 13:49

Which is why my 10k times are coming down - flatter course!
The real test will be as I start to repeat them I suppose.

actiongirl1978 · 11/02/2015 14:29

Hi all, I just need to get something off my chest..

FECKING COLD FECKING GREY FECKING WEATHER

As you were.

I am adding five deeply unpleasant miles, only made better by my new garmin which is amazing and I love it! I did spend the whole route clicking buttons and speeding up and down to 'test' it Grin

Oh and I also put that Ellie goulding song on my phone and it came on three times on shuffle and that made me think of Jamie dornan. So all not completely lost.

If anyone needs me I will be eating and drinking hot chocolate with a rug on my knee. Come on spring.

719.2

actiongirl1978 · 11/02/2015 14:42

Ps. Polly glad to hear the calf raises Re working and Hester glad to hear you still have the full use of your legs after the rolling pin incident!

I have a bit of a treat coming this weekend, we are visiting the city I used to live in and I get to do my LSR around the bay. The added benefits will be frequent availability of toilets and if I keep a 10euro note on my person I can get public transport back from the end of my run instead of having to run back the way I came. I am very excited about it.

cinnamongreyhound · 11/02/2015 15:56

It's a positively balmy 5C here today actiongirl1978! No frost overnight either.

All your talk of races is making me :(

Neeko · 11/02/2015 16:22

719.2 +3.2 from me is 722.4

I'm really struggling time-wise and fitness wise to get over 5k at the moment. Can't see how I'll ever manage 10k!

feetheart · 11/02/2015 16:37

No running for me today but I got a 'Yes' from the GNR :o
Anyone else?

actiongirl1978 · 11/02/2015 16:49

oh cinnamon, the fact that you are still training through the pregnancy is great, you will soon be racing again I have no doubt about it. When are you due?

No no frost here. But still a biting cold that permeates everything I wear!

OP posts:
actiongirl1978 · 11/02/2015 16:49

neeko, do it in bitesize chunks. You just need to push yourself a tiny bit more each time.

OP posts:
Suzannewithaplan · 11/02/2015 17:06

yes Neeko, if you can do 5k you can do 5.5, and then 6, maybe walk a little bit at the 5k point to get your energy back?

beanandspud · 11/02/2015 17:46

Found the new thread and was a bit Shock at the idea of treating sore muscles with a rolling pin - I'm clearly not a proper, hard-core runner yet.

I am very excited though at getting a Great North Run acceptance email this morning. Grin

Neeko · 11/02/2015 17:52

Thanks actiongirl and Suzanne.Smile I have done up to 7k in the past but think it's more the time issue as I feel I can't really relax into the run because I have to pick up the kids/do the tea/their clubs etc. Maybe as the days get lighter I'll feel like going early in the morning.
For now I'll just have to content myself with the fact that at least I am going out and doing it and 5k is much more than many people can do. Smile

Suzannewithaplan · 11/02/2015 18:06

I dont think I'll ever be proper and hard core then...I shrink from the full force of the foam roller, never mind the rolling pin versionShock
:o

postmanpatscat · 11/02/2015 18:07

Just me that got rejected by the GNR then Sad Perhaps they don't let southerners in? But Mo Farah grew up a few miles from here and they let him in

5 miles to add from yesterday makes 727.4

feetheart · 11/02/2015 18:54

Boo postmanspatscat, if it's any consolation I got in 2 years ago, didn't get in last year and they have let me back in again this time (and I have a soft southern postcode :))

HesterShaw · 11/02/2015 19:03

My PIL did the GNR and they're from Kent

I have literally no idea how they did it. They drink a lorry load of wine every day. Each.

ThursdayLast · 11/02/2015 19:04
