Edith yep, I am on a team of five, so I suppose a possible four or five 5m runs in 24hrs including a couple in the dark! It all depends on how fast everyone is I guess!
Irian well done on the 6.2. It does indeed all count.
Is anyone else getting carried away with how much they think they can eat after exercising? I can't seem to stop myself. A lot of it is healthy, but a lot of healthy food means a lot of calories.
On the other hand a lot is not healthy - last night for example, I finished my trail race mid afternoon, ate a banana, huge amount of cashews, a strip of dairy milk, then had a flat white while I waited outside a party venue, then lamb curry with white rice, plus two slices of toast a couple of hrs later, plus some chocolate, plus three bottles of beer.
Now the bread, I had avoided for a couple of years, but the more I run, the more I seem to crave it. The beer was a treat, I rarely drink beer. But I am starving till literally I fall asleep!
Today has been much better and everything has been healthy all day so far. But I am noticing my jeans tighten and clearly I am overeating. Is there any way to satisfy my post run/gym munchies so that I don't feel starving for the rest of the day?
Also does anyone have any ideas for high carb, low fibre, wheat free food other than porridge?
Anyway, adding in my 6.2m from my trail race which was in unbelieveably beautiful countryside in Hampshire, and for large parts of it I was running without any other runner nearby, just me, the wind, the fields and my thoughts. I could have gone around and run it again it was totally exhilarating and I absolutely got my runners high!
Oh and on the hips/itb thing, if you are rolling, concentrate on the top of your thigh or the part of the it band an inch above your knee. The middle of the thigh part doesn't really stretch and can just aggravate further and cause more pain IME (and going on the advice of my PT who is a runner and works with physios). Try also rolling around the bottom of your bum and into your hip, I find that gives a lot of relief. fwiw I tried the happy cow pose last week, I can't get my legs anywhere near the stretch! Surely runners will be useless at that with our tight hamstrings and wrecked ITBs?
