Woo! How exciting to be the last on one thread and the first on another!

suzanne do you do all your running on tarmac? If you were able to do more off road running would that help your hip? Just thinking, my runs are a mixture of road and trail but if I have done a lot of road I do feel it more in my hips and knees, I am sure the more forgiving surface of off road helps reduce niggles.

emummy · 14/03/2015 12:11

Right, I was entering my miles on my phone and m&s-hit a key, so screwing up all the totals for subsequent posts!Blush
So have recalculated and get 773. Hope that's right, sorry everyone
Congratulations Aggressive what a fantastic result!

emummy · 14/03/2015 12:13

M&s a key?? Mis-hit that should say , not doing well today, I pad being a bit slow and strange

runtothehills · 14/03/2015 12:30

Aggressive what an amazing result, and an epic of a race. Can imagine its even tougher in HK humidity.

Have finally bit the bullet and went out for an interval session this morning. 5 miles. 1 mile warm up, 1min run/walk reps up local hill, then 1 min run/jog reps back down. Feeling better for it but def not as much fun as a LSR (which is my Mothers Day treat tomorrow).

Suzannewithaplan · 14/03/2015 14:52

9.74 from me
782.74

Suzannewithaplan · 14/03/2015 14:58

Family thanks, yes that could well be a factor!
pretty much all tarmac for me recently.
There's a section on one of my routes which is track I've not used it for quite a while to perhaps I'll try and incorporate it.
I need to make some changes for sure my hip is giving me major gyp today
:(

Congratulations Aggressivebunting!!

5madthings · 14/03/2015 16:33

aggressive that is amazing, well done!

10.4 miles from me,my longes the run ever! My hips hurt from 12km, mainly the left one so annoying. I also ran the whole run with no music as I forgot my mp3 player! I have a massive blister where I had taped up my big toe as it sometimes rubs, but the tape slipped and I think I would have been better off without tape! It doesn't hurt at all but looks quite spectacular like a freaky growth on the inside of my toe!

5madthings · 14/03/2015 16:44

793.14

Suzannewithaplan · 14/03/2015 16:50

we seem to have a hip pain epidemic!
well done on your longest run ever 5mad :)

5madthings · 14/03/2015 17:15

Hip pain is awful. I think mine is hormone related and the gp agrees. Things probably loosened up with start of pregnancy and apparently even after an early loss as I had it will take at least three months for ligaments to tighten etc. Anyway Ihave a session with a personal trainer on wed eve... To make me push myself. And I have told him about the hip pain so he is going to help me do some stretches and strengthening stuff to help my hips. I am feeling massively smug but a bit disappointed by my hips, it really slowed me down. 1hr and 50 mins for 10.4 miles! But that's still on target for under 2 and a half hours for the half which is my goal. The first 8km were fine, then it started to niggle and by 12km it really hurt. I think I will take nurofen or something before my next long run. But all next week's runs are an hour or less, thank god!

Deliaskis · 14/03/2015 17:43

Hi running folks, hooray everybody who has managed significant runs today.

I forgot to log my mid-week run, so 3.3 plus 3.1 today is 6.4, making new total, of 799.54

actiongirl1978 · 14/03/2015 17:56

Omg aggressive, that result rocks!! Well done!

Amazing AgressiveBunting!!

Well done on your run 5madthings, hope you feel more confident for your hm even if you were in pain from your hip.

No running from me today as I was rd at my parkruns birthday. The photographer and journalist were far too intetested in my pregnant running for my liking and hope it doesn't feature too much in the report as it should be all about parkrun imo. Going out in the morning wih my friend for a 4 miler as my canicross club are almost all racing so there's no club run. Can't be out too long as it's Mother's Day and Dh wants to spoil me Hmm

5madthings · 14/03/2015 18:40

Well cinnamon what do you expect, a pregnant woman who isn't Bare foot and in the kitchen... I mean running when pregnant!! Hope the article is Ok.

My hips are feeling better after a good stretch, it's the outside at the top when I run that hurts and now I am back my lower back/pelvis which am sure is related to the spd I get in pregnancy. Shall just stretch and rest tomorrow.

Hope you have a good run tomorrow, my dp now at work and won't be home til tomorrow evening.. Hope hum. Still madhting4's bday tomorrow so will be a nice day.

cinnamongreyhound · 14/03/2015 18:49

It's Fab

Sazorchard31 · 14/03/2015 19:13

Congrats aggressivE that's amazing! Hope you celebrated lots

EdithDickie · 14/03/2015 19:22

Hmm hips stiff again today, so frustrating! Better when I keep moving and keep stretching. I think it's nothing sinister, not the joint itself but the muscles. Will keep plodding and take it steady...

Ooh are you Action?! It is VERY terrifying indeed! Grin

There are a surprisingly huge number of solo entries, just over 100 out of about 500 total runners. Cannot imagine it alone! I know when it gets tough my lovely team mates (48 year old with whom I have a lovely coach/dad kind of relationship and 25 year old whippet who is my buddy /little brother type figure) will be what gets me through. Alone must be a whole new level of tough!

Aggressive wow that's amazing! Well done!

EdithDickie · 14/03/2015 19:26

Well done on your longest run madthings , hope the hip pain settles down soon. Totally agree that all miles count, fast, slow or glacial, I count all mine proudly!

7.2 early ones from me today, I had to be back home for 8am. Really cold outside and puddles frozen over again, but sunny and bright and I just felt so good Smile
