Woo! How exciting to be the last on one thread and the first on another!

OP posts:
bibliomania · 07/03/2015 19:59

Just popped into the thread to boast about running my first ever parkrun today! I was one of the slowest at 36.16 but was surprised and delighted that I go through the 5km at all.

I did C25k last year, and it actually worked! I can run 5k!

Suzannewithaplan · 07/03/2015 20:16

well done Biblio, takes dogged perseverance to get the the stage where you can run for that long!

bibliomania · 07/03/2015 20:20

Thanks!

Sazorchard31 · 07/03/2015 20:31

2.5 from me tonight, hadn't been out all week and was itching for a run. Felt exhausted before I went but Ran my usual loop quicker than ever, all

cinnamongreyhound · 07/03/2015 20:34

I totally agree, any aim for a hm is an achievement!! It's blimmin tough to complete in any time and something you should be proud of.

Welcome and well done Bibliomania!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 07/03/2015 20:55

I have checked the weather for where I will be for the next five days (on a work trip, not a holiday) and it is high teens/early 20s. Better dig out shorts and vest from the back of my running drawer Grin

Sazorchard31 · 07/03/2015 21:00

For my first half my aim.was just to get round so keep that in your head. Finishing one in any time is incredible, it takes a lot of work and energy! Target times are wonderful to achieve but I'd say run it as you feel comfortable and not stress about the time.

5madthings · 07/03/2015 21:10

hoppy i think you will suprise yourself at the half, the routes you are doing in training are much harder, all those hills and flat, the manchester rotue is flat and on road.

Well done biblio thats a great time for a first parkrun, at ours lots of people come in arojnd 40 mins or so.

I am doing my long run tomorrow, have been planning routes online.

Anglaise1 · 08/03/2015 08:08

A HM is a huge achievement to do - just to finish regardless of time. Good luck with all your HM training Hoppy Family and 2Bambinos
Well done on your first park run Biblio the most important thing is that you enjoyed it and you'll do it again!
I'm not running today but have 7.5 miles to add from the relay race last night (10k and warm up). No idea how the team did as I ran first and the last runners finished after midnight when I was tucked up in bed. Was quite pleased with 47:15 because it was very last minute being asked to do the race, I wasn't rested having done the interval training session yesterday morning and running in the dark always slows you down a little.
Enjoy your runs today, it's another gorgeous day here.

Anglaise1 · 08/03/2015 08:08

Whoops.
368.8

ifyourehoppyandyouknowit · 08/03/2015 09:22

Thanks everyone! My time will also depend on how fast 5mad gets round as theres six hour course limit

So glad I ran yesterday, it's pouring with rain today. But OMG the my legs hurt!

Good luck everyone running today!

Sirzy · 08/03/2015 10:03

I need to make more effort to keep up with this thread! But today's run was cut short by rain induced blindness! So only 1.6 miles from me 370.4

familygermsareok · 08/03/2015 10:31

Well done biblio, that's a great achievement Smile. Welcome to the thread.

11.8 from me this morning, very windy and hard work. Much warmer though, first time for ages I have left my gloves behind. Spring is on its way Smile

382.2

cinnamongreyhound · 08/03/2015 10:33

I can only dream of a sub 50min 10k Anglaise1, in any kind of light, well done!!!

4 canicross miles from me this morning, in the sunshine which has now gone :( may be my last run with them as they're all racing next Sunday and the following one I'll be 38weeks so perhaps will have stopped.

374.4

cinnamongreyhound · 08/03/2015 10:33

Whoops too slow posting! 386.2

Suzannewithaplan · 08/03/2015 10:43

Ifyourhoppy, when you say that your legs hurt after running do you mean specific muscles or a more general aching?
Just wondering because I get confused about what is running related and what is resistance training related !

ifyourehoppyandyouknowit · 08/03/2015 11:21

Just generally aching after exerting myself, rather than specific muscles.

emummy · 08/03/2015 11:30

Lovely 5.8 miles in the sun this morning, deliberately made myself run slow and relaxed, was really nice. That's week 1 of the hm plan complete, hurray!

feetheart · 08/03/2015 14:27

Back home and still on a HUGE high from smashing my 10k PB by over 2 minutes at MK Festival of Running :o
Didn't run a sensible race at all as went off far too fast at the start and struggled from about 3.5 miles but was dragged round by a very encouraging club mate who also got her best time for over 3 years.
And I got the Female Newcomer Award at the club awards night last night - bit of a runners high w/e all round :o

Need to add 4.9 from Mon, 4.9 from Thursday and 6.2 from today

Congratulations Feet - on your 10k and the best female newcomer. That must be super motivating for you! 2 mins is a huge margin to improve by.

Deliaskis · 08/03/2015 18:19
