Woo! How exciting to be the last on one thread and the first on another!

OP posts:
OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 28/02/2015 18:57

Yay for all the running! We smashed the target even though it was a shorter month! Well done everyone long and short Grin

3.1 parkrun miles from me = 2063.1

I have this foam roller but I am sure it was cheaper than it is showing up as now when I bought mine a couple of weeks ago.

EdithDickie · 28/02/2015 19:09

OhOne thanks for that - definitely want to get one, think it'll do me good!
We have smashed the target Grin

And please excuse me while I have a shameless boast - I ran 84 miles in February Grin

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 28/02/2015 19:14

Edith that is BRILLIANT Grin

I ran 78.75, so still pretty much on track for my 1000 miles this year, especially if I do a few HMs Smile

cinnamongreyhound · 28/02/2015 19:19

Well done everyone, missed running today but I'm tired today so perhaps a good day to have a day off! Running with canicross club tomorrow :)

Sirzy · 28/02/2015 19:23

I think I need a gps watch. Which would you suggest?

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 28/02/2015 19:28

Sirzy I have a fairly old garmin 110. DH has a swanky new garmin 10 (Christmas present).

Nowtherave · 28/02/2015 19:32

2065.1 after adding 2 tiny little miles from my 10k training program. I only started running in August on my 39th birthday, so I'm very proud of myself. I also absolutely LOVE running now! To think I used to hide in hedges on cross country runs at school!

karatekimmi · 28/02/2015 20:00

Hope your run helped a bit madthings sorry things are shitty right now, FlowersWine

About 10 miles This week from me, including today's parkrun which is my fastest since mid December, so I'm quite happy with that!

2075.1

EdithDickie · 28/02/2015 22:25

Thanks OhOne! 1000 miles in a year is a very cool target to have Smile

Sirzy, I have a garmin forerunner 610 and I love it.

itsveryyou · 28/02/2015 23:24

We've decided not to run the HM tomorrow. Really disappointing as I felt really ready, trained well and was looking forward to it. However, the organizers have cancelled the full and ultra marathons, the roads are slippy and the HM course hasn't been treated, so we can't see how it will be safe or fun, especially for a HM first timer like me. Also they've said all the full marathon runners can join the half...it'll be a bun fight! Due to freeze again tonight, outlook is not good at all, not even above zero tomorrow.

LaughingM · 01/03/2015 00:12

itsvery that's a shame. Is there another one soon you could enter ?

mad hope you're doing as well as can be and that the run helped a bit.

8 agonising miles from me today - I really did not enjoy it. And had to rush out to a birthday thing as soon as I'd got home and showered, so didn't stretch properly and my hip is very very sore now. Bugger. Will ice and poss even rolling pin when I get home!

2085.5 (including 2.4 from me the other night as well)

itsveryyou · 01/03/2015 03:39

LaughingM will run the distance when the weather is better, just for my own satisfaction! Then will look for another race to join asap. Moving back to UK in the summer, I know of more events over there so will be easier to plan.

AggressiveBunting · 01/03/2015 06:25

Kicking off March with a 15 mile trail race today. Felt pretty good and placed 11th of 100 in 3hrs 9 mins. Got very snagged up at a bottleneck close to the start which lost me 5 mins and a few places but you live and learn- next year I'll be out of the blocks like a sprinter Grin

EdithDickie · 01/03/2015 08:12

Wow Aggressive! Well done, great result Smile

Rest day for me today but I thought I would swing by to declare my goal of 75 miles for March. Makes me feel accountable! I am marking my planned runs on the calendar and everything. This reassures dh who worries I will hurt myself and reassures me that I will get my miles in. Plus it makes me feel reeeeally cool!

originalpiratematerial · 01/03/2015 08:42

These are undeniably expensive although they may be cheaper elsewhere but I find this the best roller and everyone at the gym I go to uses them as well. They are small enough to be portable as well.

originalpiratematerial · 01/03/2015 08:44

EdithDickie that's a really good idea. I might try and work out a plan for March too.

Aggressive that's brilliant!

Sorry 5madthings Flowers

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 01/03/2015 09:11

Blardy hell pirate that looks like a scary beast Grin I will work up to one of those.

Well done Aggressive.

Sorry you didn't get to run your HM itsveryyou, better safe than sorry though.

Hope your hip feels better today Laughing.

Great plan Edith - I'm aiming for about the same Smile.

Flowers for 5mad, sorry I missed your post about DS2 before.

It's a gorgeous day here, far nicer than yesterday. Hoping for 8-10 miles this morning.

Suzannewithaplan · 01/03/2015 09:22

?
My rough plan for March is to carry on as I am, I should be able to hit 200 miles by the end of the month, or a little more if I increase my regular distance.

I am still weighing up the pro's and cons of running 4 x per week instead of every other day. It would mean sacrificing some strength training and cycling both of which I feel are important to maintain my running powers' so Im still undecided ?Confused

actiongirl1978 · 01/03/2015 09:24

thursday that sounds lovely. I love living down south (ex northerner) the weather is so much better in general and little things like the early signs of spring are much more apparent!

suzanne you might be right. That or the specificity thing about doing something often you get good at it?! I do definitely think that running got a whole lot easier when I strengthened my glutes and hamstrings with my PT in the early autumn. I knocked about 3 Mins of my 5 K in a matter of weeks which I put down to strength, so I suppose it makes sense that it helps with endurance. Certainly hills don't slay me like they used to, it's my breathing issues that sabotage me instead!

itsvery sorry you didn't get to do your HM I hope you find something else you can do soon.

OP posts:
Suzannewithaplan · 01/03/2015 09:25

Congratulations on your race Agressivebunting, it's bad enough getting tangled up in a bottle kneck of walkers on a regular run so that must have been maddening in a race!

Anglaise1 · 01/03/2015 10:19

Congratulations on your trail run Aggressive 11th is great and I know what you mean about being held up.
So sorry you didn't get to do your HM Itsveryyou. It must be frustrating when you've done all the training.
Did my HM yesterday and managed 1H44M which isn't my best time, but the course wasn't that easy so I'm happy with the result. Made the poduim as 3rd Veteran 2 woman and I was 16th woman overall (out of around 150), 372 out of 807 finishers in total including men. The weather was kind to us too, but as predicted I spent all evening with terrible stomach ache Sad.
I wore compression socks for the first time and I'm sure my legs were stronger than in the previous HMs I've done.
15.5 to add to February so
2101
And a little recuperation run this morning of 5k so
3.1 for March.

Suzannewithaplan · 01/03/2015 10:29

Congratulations on your placing Anglaise!
veterans I think are over 40's? ?
(kind of seems inappropriate these days when 40 is really quite young!)

Just wondering what the age range of the women runners looked like, were many of the veterans over 60 or over 70??

Deliaskis · 01/03/2015 10:38

A very slow 3.2 for me this morning, so 6.3 for March (sorry don't know how to bold on kindle)

cinnamongreyhound · 01/03/2015 10:39

That's a real shame itsveryyou :(

Mine is a garmin forerunner 110 too Sirzy, I love mine. Check out eBay for tonnes of sexism hand only used a few time ones. I had a polar ft4 before that but it doesn't have as many functions.

Well done AggressiveBunting and Anglaise1, you're both amazing!

4 miles from me with the canicross club, the beautiful sunny morning is already fading! I felt I struggled today but when I checked we did a couple of sub 10min miles so perhaps why. Starting to realise I will miss all these people very soon :( although I'm sure my time will be quite occupied! A day of sorting and a bit of shopping today, just need to get of my bum and chivvy up the kids!!!

15+3.1+my 4 = 22.1

cinnamongreyhound · 01/03/2015 10:40

And Deliaskis 3.2 = 25.3
