Woo! How exciting to be the last on one thread and the first on another!

OP posts:
Anglaise1 · 26/02/2015 17:10

Orange I've got a HM Saturday afternoon, I did quite a few last year but this is the first one since last August. The course is part road part path and I know it is going to be very muddy - in two minds whether or not to wear trails. Don't think a PB is going to be possible.
Suzanne my bunion doesn't hurt at all but like your growth (are you sure it isn't a bunion?)it seems to have got bigger in the last few months and now takes up so much room in the shoe that my toes are really squasheed and uncomfortable. My feet are normally really narrow and a size 8 is really too big for my "normal" foot.
No way am I going to have an operation as it would mean 2 months off running Shock

EdithDickie · 26/02/2015 18:10

5 horrible humid, sweaty, shouldn't have eaten cheese and pickle sandwich before I went, miles yesterday.

3 today, on an empty stomach with a lovely breeze - much better!

I will have to pop back later to add up with a calculator Smile

Suzannewithaplan · 26/02/2015 18:12

I'm pretty sure it qualifies as a bunion yes, I think I'll start photographing my feet to see if it is changing.

oh yes perish the thought of an operation Shock Shock

postmanpatscat · 26/02/2015 18:19

Sorry to hear your news 5madthings I've been divorced for five years due to emotional and sexual abuse and my mum still doesn't get why I left him Hmm Sometimes you just have to ignore it.

3.1 to add from me on Tuesday. Hope to get out again tomorrow.

1914.76 + 3.1 + 8 + 3.2 = 1929.06

EdithDickie · 26/02/2015 18:41

Anglaise1 good luck for Saturday. I've not really done much trail running, may have to have a go at it soon. Half and half sounds good. Hope your bunion doesn't get any worse. I had a neuroma on my left foot removed three years ago and between diagnosis, getting it removed and recovery I didn't run for a year. It did feel like a long time and I wondered if I'd ever get back into it. I don't have a problem now but interestingly if I do have any injury it always seems to be on the left side.

Sirzy · 26/02/2015 19:26

2.1 miles from me 1939.16

Anglaise1 · 26/02/2015 19:48

Good luck to you too Orange! I hope the weather is better for you than it is forecast here...rain again, like most of this week. I'm glad the op for your neuroma was a success, but a year is a long time not to run, it must have been hard.
Suzanne I didn't realise how bad a state my foot was in. I've just taken a photo and as well as the bunion on the left there is a bone growth on the right side near the little toe. The width of my right foot is huge compared to my left. Yuk.

Knackerelli · 26/02/2015 20:29

Good luck to everyone racing!

Am so sorry madthings life can be very unfair at times.

Sadly can't add any miles due to work and/or no childcare. Roll on the weekend!!

itsveryyou · 26/02/2015 20:32

Good luck to everyone taking part in an event this weekend - have my first HM on Sunday - yeeks! Haven't run for a week, as we were away in very chilly climes, way too cold to run outdoors, but managed to walk a brisk 45 miles over 4 days in the snow and ice, so I think I've upped my endurance! Will report back on Sunday as soon as I'm upright again.

Anglaise1 · 26/02/2015 20:40

Ahh, you'll be fine itsveryyou. Good luck. The only thing I'm not looking forward to is Saturday evening as I know I'll spend most of if with severe tummy ache visiting the toilet regularly. After every race it is the same Shock

runtothehills · 26/02/2015 20:44

Good luck with HMs this weekend guys. Anglaise1 always find going from a nice path to tarmac a killer on the legs/knees, though it does up the speed.

Trying to deny that the big bit of dry skin on my right foot is a bunion, but I'm sure it's getting worse with the running. A couple of miles today post FBX, need to do some speed work but just struggle to motivate myself to do it, can only seem to do it a club training sessions, and I'm very good at skiving those ones Grin.

Suzannewithaplan · 26/02/2015 20:59

far as I can tell from initial googling running may exacerbate bunions if you are prone to them.
Difficult to say really as we cant know what out feet would look like had we not been running!

zinher · 27/02/2015 02:33

Just marking my place here. I did c25k a couple of years ago but then gave up. Am gna start again. Excited ! And a little scared of the cold.

cinnamongreyhound · 27/02/2015 09:39

Welcome Zinher!

emummy · 27/02/2015 11:36

3.8 miles in beautiful sunshine through the woods. Still struggling up the big hill though. Have a 10k in Ril with a similar hill, think there will be some walking. Am going to try improving my diet too, have felt quite sluggish this week.
Welcome zinher, don't worry about the cold, the running will soon warm you up!
Good luck with the hm itsveryyou, hope all goes well
1942.96

emummy · 27/02/2015 11:36

twobambinos · 27/02/2015 17:00

We need 60 more miles people jog on Smilesays lazy over here. I'll be going for a long run tomorrow so I'm resting today. God I'm so un motivated this week. Goodluck to every one doing a race this weekend hope you are all set.

5madthinga been thinking about you. My mother is a fright for stating the obvious and for stupid unhelpful comments ud wish they would just be quiet if they have nothing nice to say. Big hugs to you

cinnamongreyhound · 27/02/2015 17:08

I am RD at parkrun tomorrow so no running from me until Sunday. At least I will contribute something to March and that will be the last month for a while :(

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 27/02/2015 18:04

itsveryyou · 27/02/2015 19:37

We're currently in the midst of a heavy snowstorm and the race organisers for our HM on Sunday have cancelled Saturday's events (5k and 10k)...but I think we'll still go ahead on Sunday, maybe starting an hour later than the original 7am start. A week ago I was worried about overheating...now it's frostbite!!
