Oh 5mad I just want to give you a big squeeze (((((())))))

And Hester too. Life can just be a bit shit sometimes can't it?

I've been collecting some miles, 3 including a short/swift/rainswept hill session on Sunday, and 8.5 today.

1858.8

Took delivery of some lush looking new trails today - hurry up parkrun!

Oh and welcome hoppy!

Anglaise1 · 25/02/2015 17:10

Welcome Hoppy!
Suzanne Action - as well as the reduced injury I think it helps you on endurance more than anything. You still need to do the fast interval training, but on the 80:20 plan it takes less priority than the long slow runs. My training plan is around 60:40 and my knee is feeling it! There are definitely 2 schools of thought on the matter as to which is best. Mo Farrah does the 80:20 plan, for example.
Thursday I bet your new trails won't be looking that lush for long Wink I can't remember what mine looked like originally - they are always coated in mud.

Anglaise1 · 25/02/2015 17:12

Whoops, forgot to add my little slowish run this afternoon with the dog, 6.9
1854.2

Suzannewithaplan · 25/02/2015 17:20

I'm not sure that anything Mo Farrah does is relevant to me, he and his ilk are like a different species so vast is the gap :o

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 25/02/2015 17:36

they are gorgeous Thursday Smile

I am officially a bozo. I was running at a great pace, really enjoying myself and not feeling as though I was pushing it too hard. I came up to 6 miles and realised I might be on for a 10K PB (not that I am planning to name change - this is no longer my PB but I like this time Grin). So I carried on, and stopped my garmin at 6.1. Then realised that 10K is 6.2 Confused!

Anyway, my 6.1 was in 59:56, so I would have PB'd if I'd kept going. Never mind, there is always next time Smile.

Hahahaha yes - I was looking at my rather grizzled old Kanadias earlier, crossing my fingers that these arrived before Sat otherwise I was going to have to something about cleaning them ShockShockShock

OhOne aren't most races 'approx' Wink sounds like a PB to me.

I akso ordered done minimus road shoes but they were revolting and are going back.

Anglaise1 · 25/02/2015 17:44

I know Suzanne a lot of runners dream of running a 5k in the time that Mo Farrah runs a 10k Shock but it's interesting that he trains by doing a lot of long slow mileage and still manages to do fast shorter races.
Here's a nice article for all of us who enjoy running on our birthdays and other things non runners will never understand.

ThursdayLast · 25/02/2015 19:20

Just ordered this for my running buds birthday in a few weeks Grin

Thursday that is brilliant. And sadly so true Blush - we runners have our priorities!

Nowtherave · 25/02/2015 20:14

Good evening! I did OK but my poor dogs were dragged the last half a mile! A dark but much warmer 3.8.

TheSkinnyProject · 26/02/2015 10:33

They felt flat compared to my old ones.

1874.4

emummy · 26/02/2015 10:44

Slow 2 mile recovery run this morning. Muscles pretty sore after boot camp

1876.4

AggressiveBunting · 26/02/2015 11:33

11.55 from me with a cheeky 900m ascent at the start ( the descent was a bit of a bugger as slippery) making 1888

Was part of the course for the 50k race I'll be doing in a few weeks. Has made me feel more confident about it as realised it's doable so long as I keep to my pace and keep enough in reserve to benefit from an easier second half.

CardiffUniversityNetballTeam · 26/02/2015 13:03

I have 8.1 to add from two short runs this morning and yesterday morning. Much, much warmer here this morning , if a little damp!

New total is 1896.1

Anglaise1 · 26/02/2015 14:42

A very very wet 6 miles here. Last run before HM and at last I've found some shoes that fit my bunion. Size 8 and no squashed toes. Bliss.
I think we are on track to make the 2000 miles for February!
1902.1

Suzannewithaplan · 26/02/2015 15:43

1977.6

Suzannewithaplan · 26/02/2015 15:46

it rained the whole time but I had my waterproof jacket on and was at just the right temperature

Anglaise1 · 26/02/2015 16:11

Suzanne I think you've made a typo and added on 60 extra miles Wink

orangeflutie · 26/02/2015 16:13

3.2 miles from me in windy drizzle. Nice run though, my last before Eastbourne HM on Sunday.

My shoulder and neck feel a bit better today although my arm's quute bruised. I had a sports massage yesterday to try and free the muscles up. Was quite funny she was very good and said I should tell her to stop if too painful, however I took so many painkillers yesterday it was just a bit uncomfortable so I let her carry on. She said I had a high pain threshold. I said I don't normally must be all the drugsGrin

Anyway I'm hoping it will settle down over the next couple of days as sleeping is quite difficult.

Anyone else doing a HM this weekend?

Suzannewithaplan · 26/02/2015 16:27

Suzannewithaplan · 26/02/2015 16:35

I'll let Flutie add her own miles since I'm clearly innumerate today.

On the subject of bunions Anglaise I suspect that running has chaged the shape of my feet such that there is a lump where the big toe joins the foot, it's not painful or problematic but it seems to be more pronounced since I started running.

I'm not one for tight shoes or heels so I cant blame the usual culprits!
