Woo! How exciting to be the last on one thread and the first on another!

So sorry about your news 5madthings - look after yourself and I hope you feel well enough to run again soon Flowers
Even if you stop for walking breaks you should count your mileage. In trail races it is impossible to run for whole race (you often end up climbing!).
8 miles from me tonight with the club, warm up run then intervals. Not too many due to the HM on Saturday. I'm not looking forward to it as it starts at 3.30 pm - I much prefer early morning races.
1804.5 + Cinammon's 4 + 8 from me
1816.5

cinnamongreyhound · 24/02/2015 20:48

Whoops, thanks Anglaise1!

Suzannewithaplan · 24/02/2015 20:54

12.5 from me
= 1829

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 24/02/2015 21:00

3.8 from me, including another sub-30 5k Grin and I managed not to run into the bollards this evening.

5mad so sorry to hear your news Flowers

1832.8

twobambinos · 24/02/2015 21:10

2.8 from me to bring total to 1835.6

5madthings I'm so sorry to hear your news, its very disappointing when this happens early days or not. Take care of yourself and your dh x x

Neeko · 24/02/2015 21:17

5madthings. Been thinking of you today. Hope you as ok as you can be.

Couldn't drag myself out of bed this morning as it was freezing and very windy so went out tonight instead. 3.3 from me.

1838.9

Suzannewithaplan · 24/02/2015 21:22

so far this month we've made 76.36666667 miles per day, assuming we continue at a similar rate we should reach in the region of 2138.27 by Feb 28th!

HalleLouja · 24/02/2015 22:00

My 3.3 miles of intervals makes 1.842.2

I am feeling stiff now though. It took quite a bit out of me. Was quite shocked as I do hit every week so thought it would be ok Grin.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 24/02/2015 22:19

Love the maths Suzanne Grin

I'm aiming for 6 or so tomorrow, 2.5ish on Thursday and 3.1 on Saturday.

5madthings · 24/02/2015 22:35

Thanks guys :) i havent really told anyone in rl, though i did make the mostake of tellong my mum who just told me it was probably for the best anyway a it wasnt gpod timign and our house isnt big enough fpr another... thanks mum that helps, not.

Will get out for a walk at least tomorrow.

cinnamongreyhound · 24/02/2015 22:36

I'm rd at parkrun Saturday so after my planned 4 on Thursday that'll be me until March Shock

cinnamongreyhound · 24/02/2015 22:37

X post 5madthings, sorry your mum is being so insensitive Sad take care.

Suzannewithaplan · 24/02/2015 23:21

well I think your mum wins the prize for most dumb insensitive comment of the day 5mad
Just when you're feeling at your most fragile and vulnerable:(
Really hope you can try not to let it get to you
(((Flowers)))

AggressiveBunting · 25/02/2015 01:55

Adding 4 from my Crossfit commute to make 1846.2

I definitely include my walking bits - off road you usually have no choice and in fact sometimes it's quicker overall to walk really steep/ technical parts. I have improved in terms of what I'm able to run but I think there are always limits.

Entered a 24km/1,000 m ascent trail race on Sunday on the spur of the moment- have a friend with a number who now can't run and offered me her entry. Tried to get out of it by saying DH might not want to have the kids all day by himself but annoyingly he's feeling all helpful!

Anglaise1 · 25/02/2015 06:36

Fance swapping your trail race for my HM Saturday, Aggressive? I know which I'd rather be doing Envy
I'll have another 6 or so tomorrow plus the HM and warm up and a possible slow 6 today if I have time. And the HM Saturday. I'mm reading Matt Fitgerald's 80:20 training which has helped me thing that running slowly isn't a waste of time, on the contrary. My knee hurts after last nights intervals, 12 x 200m in 45s.
((Cinnammon)) so sorry about your mum's comments. She sounds as diplomatic as mine. When I spilt up with my OH (I had my 7 r old daughter and 18 mth old son) she came over to France to offer some moral support and the first thing she said was how ashamed I should be that the house was so untidy. Mothers, eh??

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 25/02/2015 08:27

5mad this will be of no comfort, but my Mum would have probably said the same (((hugs)))

It is my day off today. I planned to get up early and run, but sleep got the better of me Smile. I have to be somewhere at 10, so will run this afternoon instead.

Suzannewithaplan · 25/02/2015 09:01

Re slow running Anglaise as I understand it impact forces and therefore the risks of injury are lower as compared to faster running.
But it's hard not to see the faster runner as better?, more accomplished, talented, in a different league etc.
Even if when you weigh it up strictly from the point of view of health / injury rates slower paces probably score more points ?

ifyourehoppyandyouknowit · 25/02/2015 10:13

Can I join in? I'm doing the other half of the marathon with 5mad, have done 61miles so far this year. And yes, mum is monumentally insensitive at times. x

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 25/02/2015 12:28

Welcome hoppy Smile

actiongirl1978 · 25/02/2015 12:28

Hi all,

So sorry madthings, I hope you feel better soon. My mum would have said the same in a bid to be helpful and through not knowing what else to say. Also anglaise, my mum would have commented on my house too...

I am adding 2.5 miles today, I went out to a lovely country 'park' not very big but with a few good hills to run up and lots of pretty views.

I needed the shake out after doing my first GRIT class yesterday. My goodness my glutes hurt a lot!

Anglaise I do so much slow running I can barely run quickly anymore. The 80 20 book is interesting though.

Mums are ridiculous at times 5mad Flowers. When I was having IVF mine stopped talking to me because I refused to keep her abreast of every single development. Selfish apparently. 'Cos it was all about her, right? And now there's no point me going for adoption because at 39 we are "too old" Hmm Hope you're looking after yourself - do whatever it takes.

Hello hoppy :)

2.6 warm and windy miles from me. This south westerly makes it feel like spring is here. Before I run one step further I am going to have to find some cooler clothes. A magenta complexion clashes with my hair!

I'm off on holidays for a few days tomorrow so won't be partaking anyway. See you when I return.

1847.3

emummy · 25/02/2015 12:47

No running from me today, boot camp instead in the lovely sunshine.
5madthings think your mum sounds a lot like mine! No filter between brain and mouth. Hugs to you, hope you are doing ok.

5madthings · 25/02/2015 15:48

Waves at hoppy mum is just mum and she doesnt mean to be insensitive really. I will be fine i am sure, its just messedwith my head as mentally with merry starting school in sept i was movign on from the baby stage, getting into my running and plannjng a life past tinies as the madthings all grow up, and this has just rocked me a bit. Rationally i know another would be mad, the irrational hormonal part of me does not agree. I think i will always be one of those people who is slightly broody, desoite having five for gods sake! Countjng my blessings.

hester i am sorry to hear abput the ivf etc, you arent too old though, if it what you want! I have no experoence other than through friends etc but fertility problems must be heartbreaking. I dontated my eggs the other yesr, well two years ago now, the couple who got them had twins :) so really i have done my bit for re populating!

Right i should try and get out for a run before dinner.

cinnamongreyhound · 25/02/2015 16:09

I worry that I'll be the same 5madthings, was very sad a lot about the prospect of having no more babies until dh changed his mind but I know this one really is it!

welcome ifyourehoppandyouknowit!
