Woo! How exciting to be the last on one thread and the first on another!

OP posts:
EdithDickie · 23/02/2015 22:10

I have bailed on the rolling pin! Grin

A lot of yoga stretches in front of the telly though and I have made it upstairs without grunting or swearing! Definite improvement!

iwantgin · 23/02/2015 22:51

Update from me. The Half was great. So much tougher than I was anticipating. I have done one previously but it was 3 years ago and I had actually trained for it. Enjoyed it but was so cold. Which I didn't realise untilafterwards. Pesky hotel room had a shower only. A hot bath would have been appreciated. .
Am pleased that normal life can be resumed now for a while. Grin

Good news 5 you must have boundless energy to find time to run and look after your family. Here's to easy pg.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 23/02/2015 23:13

Well done gin Smile

5madthings · 23/02/2015 23:17

Sadly it's looking like madthing6 is not a sticky bean :( such a head fuck tbh, not planned so we were shocked and then just as we started to get our heads round the idea and get it excited and now it looks to be all over before it properly began. I was about 4 and a half to 5 wks, so really early days. We are both surprisingly upset, shouldn't have let myself get our excited. :(

No running from me today obviously, depending on how I feel I will try and get out for a short run tomorrow.

Thankyou all though xxx

cinnamongreyhound · 23/02/2015 23:26

Oh no 5madthings, that awful!! So sorry for your loss. Such a tough thing to deal with, look after yourselves Flowers

AggressiveBunting · 24/02/2015 06:27

So sorry madthings and thinking of you. I'll do a few extra miles for you this week while you recover. Take care of yourself Brew

16.6 miles from me this morning (3 hrs and felt like it) to make 1743

EdithDickie · 24/02/2015 07:17

So sorry 5madthings Sad will be thinking of you.

Well done on the half gin, what was your time? Any top tips?

emummy · 24/02/2015 07:24

Iwantgin well done, glad it went well.
5madthings so sorry to hear your news. Hugs to you and your other half, be kind to yourself.

Neeko · 24/02/2015 07:34

I'm so sorry 5madthings. Thinking of you. Be kind to yourself.

Aggressive. Please tell me you live in a different time zone from the uk and haven't been up running in the middle of the night!

AggressiveBunting · 24/02/2015 08:04

Neeko I live in Asia. Fear not. Although there is that guy in the UK at the moment who is running a marathon a day for a year and he gets up at 3am and runs round Richmond Park for 4 hrs.

Naicecuppatea · 24/02/2015 09:33

So sorry 5madthings, please look after yourself.

I haven't heard of that guy Aggressive, off to google. Whereabouts in Asia are you? You must be running in the heat and humidity too!

Welcome Nowtherave!

I have my last week's 11.9 miles to add to the total which is 1743+11.9 = 1755 miles.

I have had to take a lot of it very slowly last week as both my legs are painful down the front, almost in the bones. I am not sure if this would be shin splints or not. I really hope not. Having a rest day today and running tomorrow.

stilllearnin · 24/02/2015 10:14

oh madthings - that is crap and a very cruel trick nature plays on us. Hope you can find some comfort and look after yourself.

I am adding an only-so-very-slightly-easier 3.8 miles. The only thing that kept me going was that if I gave up, I would likely never run again (seriously). I have put loads of Garmins in my ebay watch list as a reward. (have not had a birthday or christmas present from DP for around 4 years and before that very sporadic - but he's not biting!)

so 1758.8 miles

HesterShaw · 24/02/2015 10:48

5madthings, it's so hard. I'm very sorry Flowers

emummy · 24/02/2015 10:55

5 miles in the wind and rain for me, had to run as dd1's birthday tomorrow, tons to do today, needed to get some head space!
1763.8

5madthings · 24/02/2015 11:41

Thankyou all, it was very early and i am trying to tell myself it wasnt meant to be, which is not helping much. Its daft as it wasnt planned but mentally i feel like its a real loss. I am counting my blessings, i have 5 amazing children and dp is being a star.

Keep up all the fab running and hopefully i will be back out in a feew days, need to get on with half marathin trainjng but snd this is tmi, but the bleeding is far too heavy to run at the moment, nature is a bitch.

5madthings · 24/02/2015 11:41

Happy birthday to little emummy for tomorrow. :)

familygermsareok · 24/02/2015 12:45

I'm so very sorry 5madthings. Nothing really helps, it's just so sad and hard. Thinking of you Flowers

Well done gin, glad you enjoyed hm.
Welcome Nowtherave
Good on you keeping going stillearnin, I hope you get your Garmin!

13.44 from me this morning, mostly off-road. Bit further than intended but I tried out a promising looking track which just petered out in a field. Instead of sensibly retracing my steps I thought I could go through some other fields and rejoin my original route further along. A fair bit of fence climbing and sheep dodging later I did get back onto my route but not very far from where I'd left it. Tired but satisfied now Smile
1777.2

iwantgin · 24/02/2015 13:27

Sorry to hear yournews 5. Not fair.

runtothehills · 24/02/2015 14:07

Oh 5madthings I am so sorry. As you've said you try to count the blessings you do have, but it doesn't take away the loss. Take some time out, have a Brew and some Cake.

Well done gin on your HM, baths are better than showers I agree!

9 very windy, snowy and wild miles with a friend today up into the hills, admit had to walk the middle 3 miles but that was because if both legs left the ground at the same time you were taken off your feet, and some of the drifts were pretty big.

1786.2 with the 3 or 1783.2 without.

orangeflutie · 24/02/2015 14:48

Sorry to read such sad news 5madthings. Life can really suck at timesHmm

Gin well doneSmile

I ran 3.5 miles this morning and it seemed to drag a bit despite the sunny weather. Body felt a bit stiff and I seem to have developed shoulder pain that travels down my arm which is making it difficult to sleep. Also getting nervous about HM at the weekend.

familygermsareok · 24/02/2015 16:25

Wow, that sounds tough going run . I think you should count the middle 3 miles, they were part of the route and there was clearly a health and safety concern if both feet left the ground at the same time Wink.
I counted the mile or so that I intermittently walked through the tussocky bits of field today ( would have turned an ankle otherwise). I didn't even think about not counting that, am I cheating? Blush

cinnamongreyhound · 24/02/2015 16:39

It's totally understandable to feel it as a loss 5madthings, planned or not. Please give yourself time Flowers

Think I'm going to get wet this evening, we've had hail and very light snow today and it's pretty grey still.

EdithDickie · 24/02/2015 16:59

Definitely count the whole thing run!

3.6 for me today. Nice and sunny. Hips not bad at all while running but now quite tight and stiff again so more yoga tonight.

LaughingM · 24/02/2015 19:43

Really sorry to hear your news mad. As others have said, take care of yourself Flowers

Congrats on the HM gin I'm still dithering about entering mine, overtime I come on here someone inspires me to go for it though!

Well done everyone else for running through snow/hail/rain/bad ground.

I've just done a highly unpleasant 8 miles. Needed a few walking breaks and felt very stressed when I took a wrong turn in the woods at dusk and couldn't work out how to get back onto the road - thankfully made it before it got too dark! But I'll also be counting the whole thing as it was not fun Grin though pleased I did it (longest run to date I think!).

1786.2 + orange's 3.5 + Edith's 3.6 + 8 from me today + 3.2 from me the other day

= 1804.5

cinnamongreyhound · 24/02/2015 20:00

4 miles from me and it was actually a very starry evening and car said 2C on way over so I didn't get wet! Biggest group I run with in a while, 14 of us, 3 running with dogs. Had to cross A11 which was a bit scary attached to the dogs!
