Woo! How exciting to be the last on one thread and the first on another!

OP posts:
EdithDickie · 22/02/2015 18:53

1657.35 I think - and a week to go until the end of the month!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 22/02/2015 19:00

Well done Edith that sounds hardcore. I was really glad I went out this morning instead of waiting until the afternoon.

Thank you pirate. I had been regularly running sub 30 5Ks - even a few sub 28s, but I really lost my confidence when I had a suspected stress fracture last summer and stopped pushing myself in case I hurt myself again. It is great to feel strong again Smile. A lot of my running is my mind rather than my body.

CardiffUniversityNetballTeam · 22/02/2015 19:03

Congratulations 5madthings!!

11 miles to add today. I had an absolutely stinking hangover as well. It's the second week in a row I've done my long slow run with a hangover! Blush
So now, with four weeks until my HM I'm officially off the booze until the race is done.

New total is 1668.35.

Deliaskis · 22/02/2015 19:38

3.2 miles for me this morning, was cold!

New total 1671.55.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 22/02/2015 20:58

Cardiff well done. I am doing a dry lent, so will hold your hand on the booze-free front Smile

Suzannewithaplan · 22/02/2015 21:16

I cant imagine running with a hangover, I can handle running but I dont have the constitution for drinking anymore, have been teetotal for years

beanandspud · 22/02/2015 21:59

4.1 miles to add from yesterday. I have really struggled this last week to do anything but hoping that this week will be better.

I know it's all gone wrong when this thread drops from my 'I'm on' list!

1675.65

twobambinos · 22/02/2015 22:46

Id say we can def make the 2000 miles by the end of the week. Hoping I can do my part.
Cardiff I have often run with a hangover. But def prefer not to. 3 weeks to my half and I'm going my last long run next sat and will be having a stinking hangover Sunday Grin and then I will be booze free until the day of. I'll obviously have to rehydrate after the main event.

AggressiveBunting · 23/02/2015 01:17

Another 4 from me this morning makes 1679.65.

Hungover long runs used to be the house speciality pre-kids, but less so these days now I am old and no longer get to celebrate the end of the week with a ten hr session in a city bar (sob). Big push on the training this week- if the weather isn't too appalling I'm aiming for 3 longish runs between now and Saturday so will hopefully be able to help out on the 2000 mile target.

EdithDickie · 23/02/2015 01:55

Think I may join the non drinking folk, I can't be doing hungover running too often that's for sure!

My hips and my right ankle / shin are so stiff and sore it's keeping me awake Sad hopefully just because I got so cold and wet earlier rather than anything sinister.

familygermsareok · 23/02/2015 10:58

Yesterday's snow still lying on the ground and sky dark and heavy, threatening more. But, armed with my fleecy headband and warm, cosy winter top this time I took on the challenge Wink

6.5 cold and windy but exhilarating miles this morning. Looking out the window now and it has just started to snow!

ohone I can't claim I was being brave yesterday Blush. I had 3 miles to go to get home when heavy snow came on so didn't have much choice. If I had only been 3 miles out I would certainly have turned back in that! I'll run in most weather if I'm kitted out right but yesterday was pretty miserable going ( although the Brew at the end tasted best ever) .

1686.2

HesterShaw · 23/02/2015 11:23

I think I refound the love yesterday. What with crap weather and fathers with Alzheimers and misbehaving mothers, I'd kind of lost my mojo a bit. However yesterdays - admittedly short - 1.6 mile run in the run was strangely enjoyable.

1687.8

twobambinos · 23/02/2015 11:36

Awe hester sorry to hear you are having a rough time. Sadglad you enjoyed the run tho maybe helped you zone out for a little while. Hopefully you can get out more often

Anglaise1 · 23/02/2015 12:42

20 miles from me this morning, my long run of the week. I had to do it early in the week because of my HM on Saturday. Not very fast 3H15 but I was doing it for the endurance not speed and to make sure my knee held up OK (it did). Will do a couple more training sessions plus the HM before the end of the month so will be able to add more mileage for the Feb total.
1707.8

TheSkinnyProject · 23/02/2015 13:20

4.37 from me this morning. Missed my weekend run this week. Felt so good to be out this morning.

Well done all you weekend racers and congratulations to 5madthings

Total 1712.17

EdithDickie · 23/02/2015 18:06

Glad the run helped you feel better for a while hester

No running for me today, just hobbling around with very stiff hip flexors... Will never neglect post run stretching again! Hoping to be able to get out for a short one tomorrow.

HesterShaw · 23/02/2015 18:49

"Run in the run"?? Confused

Rain dammit, RAIN!

Didn't go today. Just far too windy with terrible hail. I thought it would be silly. Thanks for the kind words.

Edith sorry to hear you have stiff hips. Have you thought about trying a rolling pin?

EdithDickie · 23/02/2015 19:25

Hail is the absolute pits to run in, good call!

Haha yeah thanks Hester, rolling pin can only be a good idea right?! Grin

I am considering a foam roller though.... Seems like a good excuse for a guilt free purchase!

EdithDickie · 23/02/2015 19:26

www.sparkpeople.com/blog/blog.asp?post=13_yoga_poses_to_help_runners_and_other_athletes

Am trying some of these too. They feel good in an agonising kind of a way!

EdithDickie · 23/02/2015 19:26

Oh sorry, clicky link fail!

runtothehills · 23/02/2015 19:41

Congratulations 5madthings how you can have 5 and find time to run is impressive, at least for the next wee while you can take number 6 along with you.

Wondering what you do with a rolling pin to aid stiff hips?!?

4 miles this evening while DD2 in gymnastics with a FBX session this morning, lovely to do run in daylight again.

1716.17

Nowtherave · 23/02/2015 20:28

Hello, lurker here...reached my 5k now just started following a 10k plan. I am a misery guts, I love running alone away from my three young boys, just me and the dogs! Anyway, 5.17k in the cold, dark hail!

Nowtherave · 23/02/2015 20:29

1719.33 - didn't realise you lot worked in miles! Hope Maths is right!

Mayvis · 23/02/2015 20:55

1719.33 + 7.1 = 1726.43

HesterShaw · 23/02/2015 22:07

run you roll it over the said hips, in the same way as a foam roller. It's what I used when waiting for the foam one to arrive from Amazon. It didn't hurt or anything
