Woo! How exciting to be the last on one thread and the first on another!

OP posts:
OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 21/02/2015 22:19

Wow 5mad, congratulations Grin

Me too Neeko it will be a miracle indeed if I come on here to announce I'm pregnant at my advanced age Grin

HesterShaw · 21/02/2015 22:25

Running helps your fertility? I should have started five years ago. You can guarantee I won't be adding to the fecundity as well!

twobambinos · 22/02/2015 02:12

Wow mad things huge congratulations to ye. You certainly like to keep busy. FlowersCake

I didn't know running helped your fertility. But I didn't start until after I had my two. Def wouldn't have been able to run with dd2 had horrible spd for the last 3 months and even afterwards. Part of the reason its still twobambinos I'm not ready to go back to that just yet.

Knackerelli · 22/02/2015 09:27

Wow 5 (soon to be 6!) madthings! That's great news! ??Brew Cake Flowers

AggressiveBunting · 22/02/2015 09:27

congrats to madthings and fear not, your secret is safe with us! I reckon we have more bumps on this thread than the pregnancy section Grin. I also have a bump but it's just a food baby from my holiday- 4 days of pure gluttony - don't think I declined a beer once. So yum but need to get back on the straight and narrow for this bloody race in 3 weeks time.

5 miles to add from me. Got home from airport at lunchtime and decided to get straight back on the horse rather than wait for tomorrow. Was painful and about as unfun as it could get but it's done now.

1560.5

Neeko · 22/02/2015 09:45

Sounds like a great break. Kudos to you for getting back out there immediately.

Meant to say last night, hope you are holding up ok, Hester. I can't imagine how difficult that must be.

Oh and big congratulations on becoming an auntie! What a lovely reason to cut short a run. Smile

4 miles from me today. Really didn't feel like going. Felt quite stiff at the beginning so went really slowly. Love the feeling when your muscles warm up and relax and you can speed up a tiny bit

Good luck to those racing today.

Neeko · 22/02/2015 09:47

I'll be lucky to add another five or six miles before the end of the week. Do we think we can get to 2000 by next Saturday night? Hope there's some long, Sunday runs planned from the more experienced runners. Smile

Anglaise1 · 22/02/2015 10:03

Congratulations 5madthings-soon-to-be-6. I'm in awe, I could never have coped with more than 2! And Action on becoming an Auntie.
Brilliant news about your park run ohonetwo. It is hard coming back from injuries and always good to break a milestone.
Hope the Brighton HM went well yesterday Iwantgin
Good luck to everyone else racing today.
Runtothehills so jealous about your mountain marathon. We don't have any mountains in Brittany and because of work, kids etc it is impossible to travel a long way to do one. A friend of mine whose children are grown up has done a few of them and she has just been accepted for the Mont Blanc in August and the Diagonale des Fous in the Réunion island (170kms with 9000 altitude) which is the greatest French endurance trail race.
6.5kms from me and Sam-the-border-collie this morning, no club training today cos planning a long 20 mile run tomorrow morning if knee allows.

Checking in with a 5k canicross run this morning, they did two loops today as the first was a lap of a local race that some wanted to trial but I had to come home after the first as dh was going to work. Got home to find he'd had a call that his colleague was going so I cut the run short for no reason but have dh home so can't complain really!

familygermsareok · 22/02/2015 10:29

Brrrr. I am frozen. Seemed ok when I left, a few flurries of snow about 2 miles in but not bad. Then about 3 miles from home heavy snow came from nowhere with driving horizontal wind. Only had my lighter long sleeve top and no headband ( did have gloves, thankfully).
Have developed new running technique with left hand applied to left side of face to protect against ice cream headache.
For once I felt jealous of the car drivers that passed, usually I feel sorry for them stuck in their boxes.
I am sooo enjoying my coffee and toast now, all wrapped up in a blanket!

Congratulations 5madthings, that's great news Smile

11.5 so up to 1582.5

familygermsareok · 22/02/2015 10:30

Oops, x post, 1585.6

emummy · 22/02/2015 10:58

Finally back out for a run today, just an easy test of the piriformis, felt ok. Came home, put ice on it then stretched it so we'll see. Have to drive ds to birthday party this afternoon, priformis doesn't like driving so could be interesting!
Congratulations 5madthings hope you keep well.

cinnamongreyhound · 22/02/2015 12:32

I drove to my run today to meet the group and it was -2C when we left and 3C when I came home less than an hour later!

HalleLouja · 22/02/2015 13:13

10.8 miles to add here. Makes 1600.4 in total. That's about 14 miles this weekend.

feetheart · 22/02/2015 13:48

Wow, fast moving thread here :)

Exciting news Madthings, fingers-crossed. Luckily I also won't be adding to the running babies total - my eldest is 12 today (eek) and it would be even more of a miracle then Ohone as I know I am of a more advanced age than her :)

Well done on the 5k time Ohone - I may have to put you onto the 'volunteer to run with DS whilst I ED at parkrun' list, as long as you don't mind being beaten by a 9 year old in a Batman hat :o

Well done parkrun people and hope all the races have gone/are going OK.

3.4 to add from Thursday's speed work session with club and 3.1 from parkrun so:

1596.1

feetheart · 22/02/2015 13:50

Halle - you're on fire :)

1615.3 adding my 8.4 miles from this morning. Will come back to catch up on the thread later!

originalpiratematerial · 22/02/2015 14:04

And congratulations to you, 5madthingsandsoontobe6!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 22/02/2015 15:17

feet I'd be very happy to run with be beaten by minifeet if he doesn't mind slowing down for me for the first 4900 metres Grin

I couldn't decide if I wanted to do 6 or 8 today, and settled on 7.25 in the end. It was a lovely sunny morning, and even though it was quite muddy in parts my speed kept up pretty well.

Snow germs Shock well done for keeping going.

1622.55

Hmm, can we whip another 380 miles out off the bag by next Saturday? I'm hoping for about 20 between now and then to keep on track for my 1000 miles this year.

postmanpatscat · 22/02/2015 15:36

Wow congrats 5soontobe6madthings Two was plenty for me so I take my hat off to you. Mind you, I spend every working day with 30 five year olds so I think I'm doing my fair share. At least your own kids grow up!

Well done ohone on getting speedy and cinnamon for still going strong.

I have five miles to add from yesterday and another five miles today. I'm low-carbing for Lent and I don't think my body has caught on yet so they were both hard work.

Re the high level of high fecundity, I suppose it just illustrates that fact that running promotes health and wellbeing :)

originalpiratematerial · 22/02/2015 16:35

OhOne congrats on your sub-30 min 5k! I did one about this time last year as well, have never come close to repeating it - 31 mins has been about the best subsequently!

Neeko · 22/02/2015 18:30

I am pleased and surprised to see that some people don't manage a sub 30 5k. I thought I was much slower than everyone on this thread. It's reassuring that I'm not that much slower than some. Grin

EdithDickie · 22/02/2015 18:52

Congratulations fivemadthings! Grin

I did 12 miles today - cold, windy and rainy. Horrible! I was so cold I couldn't feel my hands at all by the time I got back and dh had to undress me and put me in the shower! Now I have warmed up though I feel pretty epic for having done it. Especially as I was a little hungover...! Average pace of 12/mile, not amazing but happy as hilly and awful weather.
