Woo! How exciting to be the last on one thread and the first on another!

Two bambinos - poo in a bush. I know, it's minging. It's never happened in a race, generally when I am doing a nice long slow run!

Yes I added 3 miles this morning, but I am now adding another 6.2 from a late afternoon run. I quite enjoyed running twice in a day. It won't happen often as it is incredibly rare to have a full day without the children (they are at grandparents for a half term sleepover).

Anyway a thoroughly enjoyable day, my runs were both lovely (spring feels like it might almost be here? ) and then I spent the rest of my time filling party bags and wrapping umpteen presents for kids parties. I feel very organised now!

1393.7

These big numbers are soooo much harder the add up!

And Thanks everyone for adding on my miles, I completely forgot!

3.53 miles this evening. Could someone pls be kind and add them to the total for me?

Anglaise1 · 18/02/2015 19:29

1393.7 + 3.53 from originalpirate + 5 from me
1402.23
Meant to have a rest day but the weather was too beautiful not to run and I wanted to try out the new Mizuno Waverider 17 trainers I found in the sales....

cinnamongreyhound · 19/02/2015 07:50

Ooooo it's getting light in he mornings! Only half of my early morning run needed headtorch Grin beautiful morning and 4 miles to add 1404.23

iwantgin · 19/02/2015 09:10

I haven't rtft, just skimmed.

Anyone else doing Brighton Half this Sunday ?

I am, and am excited/nervous/scared/raring to go.

feetheart · 19/02/2015 09:13

Hello iwantgin - sounds like the right mix of feelings in the run up to a race :)
Not sure if anyone on here is doing it but good luck, don't go off too fast in the excitement and remember - a half marathon is just 10miles with a parkrun on top :o

iwantgin · 19/02/2015 09:16

Ha ha. 10 miles plus a parkrun. Like it ;)

Or 4 x parkruns ?

Grin
orangeflutie · 19/02/2015 09:47

Went out early this morning and did 4 miles along the seafront in Torquay. Was nice and bracing. Expecting rain a bit later so thought I'd get out while it was still dry. Staying here for a few days then going home on Sunday. So good to run somewhere different.

Good luck to all running the Brighton half at the weekend. I will be doing the Eastbourne half the following weekend. It's getting awfully closeShock

Anglaise1 · 19/02/2015 12:51

It's definitely easier doing longer races by breaking them down into bite size chunks. of 10 or 5kms. Otherwise the kms start to drag especially when you get to 25 or 30 with no end in sight. Or 40 or 50 for long trails....
10 from me this morning with my running club friends
1414.03

Mayvis · 19/02/2015 14:01

1414.03 + 7 = 1421.03

Spread over two runs. But two good happy runs!

TheSkinnyProject · 19/02/2015 16:33

3.1 miles this morning when it was getting light. Yay.

1424.13

Sirzy · 19/02/2015 16:46

I'm off to try out a local beginners running club tonight. Hoping it will help me improve

postmanpatscat · 19/02/2015 17:00

Well done speedy neeko

Good luck to HM runners!

6 miles to add from yesterday makes 1430.13

Sirzy · 19/02/2015 19:16

2 miles from running club. 1432.13

Sazorchard31 · 19/02/2015 20:19

2.6 from me tonight = 1434.73

Street lights aren't on along the promenade, didn't like running in total darkness and nearly tripped on the wonky pavement numerous times. On a plus I miraculously avoided all the dog poo, miracle!!

Good luck iwantgin for this wknd, just go at your normal pace and breathe abs you'll be fine!

Anglaise1 · 19/02/2015 20:42

Good luck with your HM Iwantgin - have you done HMs before? Enjoy it in any case, don't get carried away with the pack and start too fast, I like HMs because you can chat with the other competitors (assumong they aren't all wearing headphones) the pace isn't as intense as a 10k race so more sociable.

Sazorchard31 · 19/02/2015 20:45

Whilst I was doing a hm last yr I started talking to fellow runners about 5 miles in when I was starting to tire, did the next 4 miles chatting to various people and before I knew it I only had the last few miles to go. Really helped keep me on track and stay motivated!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 19/02/2015 21:15

When I was about to do my first HM someone told me that you spend the first 3 or 4 miles getting into your stride, 4-9 feeling great and not noticing them, 9-11 or so feeling tired and wishing you had never set off, and all of a sudden it's your final mile and you're done Smile.

I have done quite a few organized HMs, and run the distance (and further) several times when training for a full marathon 2 years ago. A lot of it is the mental stuff and being in the right frame of mind. A few times I have had to stop and give myself a bit of a talking to at mile 10 (I use feet's thing of telling myself it's just a parkrun to go). My PB was when I didn't think I was doing that well, but just kept a steady pace. One of my PW's was when DH and DS1 were in the same race and I was worried about them both - DH was running the distance for the first time since major surgery, and DS1 has a chronic medical condition that can be exacerbated by exercise. I came up a hill into the sun (and didn't have my glasses on so couldn't see properly) at mile 8 and from a distance could see someone of DH's height and build wrapped in a heat sheet being put into a car by a steward. I fretted all the way to the finish (of course it wasn't him), and used up all my mental energy on that instead of focusing on running.

I had a little run after work this evening, and am claiming double points because it was raining. I ran into a metal bollard while dodging a pram towards the end and am a bit sore now. Will check my milage and post tomorrow.

Checked my trainers this evening and they have an 8 mm drop.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 19/02/2015 21:35

I have to share. I must have forgotten to switch off my garmin. Apparently I ran 67 miles in 4 hours 11 minutes tonight Grin.

Anyone know if it is possible to edit? I am supposed to be tracking my miles this year and this will really throw my tally out Grin

Suzannewithaplan · 19/02/2015 21:44

he-he you must be everso tired Ohoneoh :o
you should be able to edit the event in your garmin account, or whatever other program/app you upload to.
I'm not sure if you can edit the actual file from the device though (?)

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 19/02/2015 21:51

Thanks Suzanne, that's right. I have made up an approximate distance and time for my monthly stats (I am logging every run this year, with the goal of running 1000 miles) although the file is still showing the whole thing including my tube journey across London, my train ride home and DH driving me from the station Grin

Suzannewithaplan · 19/02/2015 22:21

?I log all mine too, on garmin connect, sporttracks and my own spreadsheet with associated graphs...its a real bugger when you forget to turn the garmin on or off!

runtothehills · 19/02/2015 22:52

OhOne that gives you 3.5 min miles, you'll need to share more about your "frame of mind" when you do your PBs Grin

10 mile night run with the club tonight, only a wee hill but loads of off trail. Need to invest in a better (brighter) head torch, anyone any recommendations? Shoes have finally died with 3 large holes in the top fabric around the area at the base of the toes. Showed DH as justification for purchasing new pair online tonight, think he was convinced by the smell even before I got round to showing him the holes Blush

AggressiveBunting · 19/02/2015 23:58

ohone- I'm not familiar with Garmin but what program/app do you download the data into? ( eg movescount is the Suunto equivalent). I can delete moves once the data is in that and also manually add them.

Day 3 of holiday for me. Didn't even bring my trainers. I feel like I needed a break though, especially as I've now decided to enter some more races in May
