Anyone else starting a Beachbody workout programme? (T25, insanity etc)

Ok so my Focus T25 box has arrived today! Costs a lot but it has 11 25 minute work outs and some stretchy exercise band things. Idea is that because I have spent a lot I will have to knuckle down and see it through for the next 2 months.

I will probably try it over the weekend and start properly on mon. I am 3 stone overweight so this is going to be a mega challenge! Has anyone else recently started something similar or a new workout dvd and want to help motivate each other?

Imwoodword - how does Max Insanity 30 compare to normal Insanity (the Max work outs in the second month)? I have been doing Insanity since June last year so am ready for a change, but don't want the effort level to go down... do you work harder in the those 30 mins than you do in the 60 of say Max Interval Circuits? Which work out would you feel has worked you harder?

They seem to sweat a lot in the promo video I have just watched!

Purpleraindeer · 29/01/2015 19:30

I really want to give insanity max30 a try. It looks great. But I think I'm not quite ready for it yet. I looked on you tube at a live class. Half the people in it were absolutely dying. Even Tania looked knackered and she was on the stage.

Caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror doing the punches in TBC. Mine are all girly and silly compared to everyone on the DVd. Im not sure boxing is my thing

differentkindofpenguin · 29/01/2015 20:51

Insanity, on day 4 of the first week. Recovery my wobbly arse!!! That was so hard my legs are still shaking

Fullsteamahead · 29/01/2015 20:55

Hi guys, I'd love to join too. I'm about to finish week 3 of T25 Alpha tomorrow. I did Jillian Michaels before Xmas but found the repetitiveness of it unbearable, so decided to try T25 and am loving it!!!

I've got an old injury in my shoulder which I'm currently trying to sort out with the help of osteopath so TBC is very hard going but I'm struggling on :)

Regarding the weight loss, I've not lost any weight since I started 3 weeks ago but I'm not bothered about it as I'm definitely noticing difference in my shape already. I'm also doing 5:2 diet along side T25 which is going really well. Today I managed to do two workouts and it was my fast day, it's amazing that following a workout you don't even feel hungry!

I was wondering if anyone is drinking any protein shakes/drinks as Shaun recommends on the programme? I'm not keen on spending money on these but wonder if they are really useful in muscle buildup and shape definition?

P.S well done everybody on your progress so far!!! :D

yumyumpoppycat · 29/01/2015 22:30

Hi fullsteam and penguin sounds like you are both doing amazing!

I tried the stretch workout, managed about ten minutes then sat on the floor and watched Blush - its quite yoga-ey still hard in places and the change of pace is quite good for a variety so def worth a try!

Purple I watched that live video with Tania too - it looked a bit mental! I think I am going to order it when the next paycheck comes in as 7 months of Insanity has definitely got a bit repetitive. I know the next move on every single work out, and can almost quote Sean T's every line! (At least his chat is better than Tony Horton's in P90X - having to hear the same "jokes" every week got a bit dire.

Fullsteam I am also on a strict eating regime in addition to the Insanity work outs - it's called The Zone and is high protein, low carb and strict portion control (you weigh everything). I lost 14kg since starting the The Zone+Insanity, but am now struggling to lose the last couple of kg to get to my goal - I think my body has maxed out and won't go any lower (doesn't help that a recent skiing trip with copious amounts of wine featured in my dry January, ahem).

Anyone taken their Day 30 photos yet?

differentkindofpenguin · 31/01/2015 16:04

I was but wussed out after getting home at 9 after a 12 hour shift, as I have another one today. Must do it tonight!

Purpleraindeer · 31/01/2015 19:34

Hi fullsteam. Well done on the double. I've never done that. I wimp out every week and do 2 consecutive days. I make the excuse that it's difficult to do a double as I don't know how long the baby will sleep for but I've never actually tried it.....
I don't do the shakeology thing. I do have smoothies for breakfast. I was cross as I haven't lost weight this week so I thought I'd see if there were 'hidden' calories in things I was eating. I put seeds in my smoothie - turns out theyre massively calorific. Who knew?

Anyway. I'm now half way thru week 5. Am finding it hard this week. It might be because it's the last week and the workouts are getting repetitive or (hopefully) it's that I'm fitter so able to do all the moves properly.

Will do my 'after' photos when I'm finished and go onto beta. I'm too scared to post them as I have another 4kg to lose but I already know there is a change in how I look.

differentkindofpenguin · 31/01/2015 22:23

Week 5, wow! That's amazing!

I've done day 6 today, just realised this is the most exercise I've done in a week, ever!!!

About to start 3 weeks of nights, this is gonna be the big test...

Jacksterbear · 02/02/2015 15:12

Good work everyone!

Back at my target weight after Xmas now; changed MFP to "maintain weight" and it's depressing how few calories it says I can have to maintain! And depressing how if you go over it tells you "if every day were like today... you'd put on x pounds in 6 weeks". Urghh. Barely room for snacks, let alone any alcohol!

TBC done today and tbh felt like it defeated me a bit. Sad did get through it but definitely didn't "nail it". Oh well.

Have not done photos but always interested to be nosey and look at other people's progress photos!

Boobz · 02/02/2015 17:44

Just did the Insanity Fit Test with DH. I beat Tania but DH beat me by 15 moves in total. Gutted!

Jacksterbear · 02/02/2015 19:10

Woo hoo Boobz . That's pretty awesome. Smile

Newrule · 02/02/2015 19:13

I'm on 3rd week of Insanity. Love and hate it all the same Smile

Purpleraindeer · 03/02/2015 07:30

Boobz! Wow. you're more hard core than tania. Scary!

Jacksster - well done on the weight loss. I downloaded mfp and have been using it. I've never calorie counted before and I hear you, it is bloody depressing how many calories are in everything!
Last ever lower focus today. I WILL get thru the lunge holds.....

Boobz · 03/02/2015 08:11

I beat Tania last time though - I really wanted to beat DH as he has only been doing Insanity for a couple of months but I am day 180, so I really should have pummeled him! He had some dubious form going on though for some of the moves... .

Well done Jacksterbear - it is nice to hit that target. You need to do photos! It's so motivating!

Have never used mfp, or a fitbit or jawbone or anything - I feel like I am already a bit obsessed and those self-monitoring devices would push me over the edge!

Is Imwoodward around? Am keen to know if the Max Insanity 30 works outs are harder than trad Insanity as am thinking of ordering it.

Day 180 photo posted.

That's an inspiring photo boobz. You must be pleased!
How much weight did you lose? How fit were you before you started?
I'm trying to set some expectations for myself so it's good to see success stories.
I have the same issue as you re obsessiveness. I need to be saved from myself - I do well with strict 'rules' so mfp should work for me

Boobz · 03/02/2015 10:20

2013:
P90X (90 days):
Starting weight 64kg (6 months post 3rd baby)
Finishing weight 51kg
10km time from 62 minutes to 48 mins
Pull ups (unaided) 0 to 10
Press ups (no knees) 18 to 50

Then I took a break to go back to work (put a stone back on, and then found Insanity to fit in around my work schedule)

2014:
Insanity (180 days and counting):
Starting weight: 56kg
Current weight: 50kg
10km time down to 44 mins

(5"3ish).

I have my Day 1, 30, 60 and 90 photos from P90X all in a line so you can see the changes, but I don't want to fill this thread up with loads of photos of me and seem really vain if people are not interested!

Boobz · 03/02/2015 10:22

And yes am pleased, but wish my thighs were slimmer (never happy!)... I don't know how to do that though as there are so many lunges/power jumps/squats in Insanity that they are rock hard, so it's not like doing any MORE exercise will make them change shape, and I already watch what I eat.

I think yoga could help, but I just don't have the time in addition to Insanity (3 kids under 6 and work FT).

Jacksterbear · 03/02/2015 16:34

Boobz that is an impressive lack of "squidge" across your lower abs - and nice quad definition! Well done on your achievement. And yes, post the before/during pics too!

This is me now (have no "before" pics) - 5ft 5in, 8st 13 lbs. I too dislike my thighs (also my slight tummy squidge which is hidden by the trouser waistband here Wink) - but that's just the shape I am, I think, and need to accept that to a certain extent.

About to do Lower Focus!

Oh btw, agree that it would be possible - but not desirable - to lose form and go faster in the fit test.

Boobz · 03/02/2015 17:16

I have thigh envy Jackster. And you have great arm tone! How much did you weigh before starting the programme? What is Lower Focus? I thought you were doing Insanity as you got it for Xmas (or am I consfusing that with someone else?)

So I can't find the serial photo collage I did (saddo) but I do have the Day 1/Day 90 from the front (rather than the back on my profile).

And now want to see other people's day 30 photos!

Jacksterbear · 04/02/2015 12:59

Boobz it was me that got Insanity for Christmas, but struggling to find the time and motivation to do it multiple times per week following the official programme; so the somewhat haphazard carefully thought-out plan is to do 1-2 Insanity (or one of the longer JM workouts) per week, plus 3-4 shorter workouts (T25 or equivalent). Lower Focus is a T25 workout.

After Christmas, I weighed 9st 5.5lbs. Have been between 8st 11lbs and 9st 6lbs since losing the post-DC2 baby weight 4 years ago. Have been exercising 3-6 times per week, with only breaks for pregnancy and occasional illness, since 2007.

Was never really overweight, but pre-DC in my late 20s I was about 20lbs heavier and very unfit (worked too hard, drank too much, ate crap and did no exercise).

So no big transformation story or stats, but generally am now (in my late 30s) the fittest and strongest I've ever been.

yumyumpoppycat · 04/02/2015 19:40

Just popping in to say hi and well done all of you on transformations under way. Boobz and jackster you is well fit. Definite thigh shrinkage there Boobz and Jackster amazing to be at your fittest now - 20lbs is a lot!

I am still full of cough and cold Confused. Planning to start back on Fri though as starting to feel better (I think).

Newrule · 05/02/2015 00:18

Are people losing much weight with Insanity? I am on the 3rd week and have lost no weight at all. I am not dieting although I am eating healthier than I have done in the past year.

Purpleraindeer · 05/02/2015 11:10

V impressive photos boobz and jackster. Am not sure I'll ever get to look like that. I'm 5ft 2 and started off 9wks post having ds as 69.3kg after c5yrs of intermittent exercise, but mostly having gradually got less fit and too fat having been very fit and active prior to that
After 5wks t25 alpha and the last 2 weeks being really careful with what I eat I'm down to 65.6kg and id like to get to 61kg. That's still at the big end of bmi but gets me to a size 10.
Feeling fed up today. Have a bit of a cold and feel a bit under the weather so can't start beta. Hopefully tomorrow. As I'm not doing exercise according to mfp I can only eat like a sparrow. Calorie counting has been a revelation to me and not in a good way!
Newrule - I lost a bit of weight with just exercise but a lot more when I included diet. Mind you - I have a lot to lose

Purpleraindeer · 05/02/2015 11:11

Oops sorry - wrote an essay
Glad you're feeling a bit better poppy
