Anyone else starting a Beachbody workout programme? (T25, insanity etc)

Ok so my Focus T25 box has arrived today! Costs a lot but it has 11 25 minute work outs and some stretchy exercise band things. Idea is that because I have spent a lot I will have to knuckle down and see it through for the next 2 months.

I will probably try it over the weekend and start properly on mon. I am 3 stone overweight so this is going to be a mega challenge! Has anyone else recently started something similar or a new workout dvd and want to help motivate each other?

Thanks Jackster. I was leaning towards T25 anyway because my friend has a copy - hoping she is not using it at the moment so that I can borrow it as it is really expensive to buy new! Quite excited about starting something new - the mornings are getting lighter now so I am running out of excuses!Grin

Hi Caitlin - have you thought about doing P90X? This is more weights/strength based, and gives great results. It does have a couple of cardio sessions in it, but is very different to Insanity (which I am doing now). Never done T25 or JM.

Boobz · 13/02/2015 08:21

Right! Time to do Insanity Pure Cardio. Really can't be arsed but I figure if I write it on here then I have to do it as it's in black and white.

GET OFF MN AND DO IT WOMAN.

Jacksterbear · 13/02/2015 09:27

So... Did you get it done, Boobz?

Purpleraindeer · 13/02/2015 10:34

Boobz your post just motivated me to get dynamic core done! I find it very easy to sit around feeding ds ( or rather letting him fall asleep on me) and putting it off. It's always a race against time to get the work out done and shower before he wakes up from his micro nap!

Boobz · 13/02/2015 10:43

I did! And I did Max Cardio Conditioning rather than Pure Cardio, which is a bonus.

Am starving now though!

WeekendsAreTooShort · 13/02/2015 13:22

Hi would anyone mind if I join in this thread. Have not ben on mumsnet for ages but had a look today and was so excited to see an insanity thread. I have been doing BB workouts for 2 yrs now- insanity 2 rounds, T25, alpha, beta and gamma, P90x3, PiYo and at the moment back to insanity. I am doing the insanity instructor course next month too!! v excited about that. I managed to lose the baby weight which was great and this month trying to be stricted with the food and booze!!! I am 40 and bit worried the training will be full of much younger people so trying to up my game:) loved reading everyones comments

WeekendsAreTooShort · 13/02/2015 13:23

just got max 30 too and have done the cardio challenge CD couple of times after insanity but needed to follow Danielle all the time!

Purpleraindeer · 13/02/2015 14:36

Hi weekends!
I have a question - what would you recommend post t25 beta - gamma or insanity max 30?
I'm tempted by max 30 as I like the cardio and from what I understand gamma is weights again?

WeekendsAreTooShort · 13/02/2015 15:00

Hi there.Spped 3 in gamma is pure pure cardio-it's crazy. def more weights in gamma but it's good as you can do pure gamma or the hybrid of alpha, beta and gamma. some days I did doubles of both. I have just had a qiuick look at max and only done one workout so far. Its definitely mainly cardio though and body weight exercises. MAx 30 looks awesome and think I would prob go for that at the moment if I was you :)

Fullsteamahead · 13/02/2015 18:52

Happy Friday everyone! :)

I've finished Alpha today and here is my photo update, apologies for the sweaty appearance!!!

Don't think I look very different but definitely feel it! My core strength has improved greatly. Still a very long way to go but very happy so far. Unfortunately, I didn't weigh myself right at the start but I think I was about 62.5 kg, this morning I weighed myself and I was 60.5 kg.

I'm, however, starting to seriously rethink my eating, Ive started wondering if doing 5:2 is actually any good when doing intensive exercising? I wonder if all I'm doing now is flushing water out of my system on fast days, hence reasonable "weight loss" or should I say water loss! I'm thinking I need to start eating a lot more protein and monitoring my calories, also eating more regularly and little at a time. What are your thoughts please?

Fullsteam! I can see a huge difference in the shape of your thighs and hips and the tone of you stomach! Well done. Flowers

Not really sure about the diet thing, have never done 5:2 myself, and definitely don't have an optimum diet!

Boobz · 13/02/2015 22:21

Amazing progress dude - well done! The last picture especially you can see such good tone in the stomach.

I think I have blathered on enough about diets on here - defo reduce carbs, up protein, and have 5 small "meals" a day. Sugar is evil.

Think I am going to order Insanity Max 30 as a Valentine's present to myself tomorrow.

Boobz · 13/02/2015 22:21

P.S. Do you own a Tasmanian Devil? That is a big cage you've got going on there.

Purpleraindeer · 14/02/2015 08:54

Wow fullsteam! I'm v impressed at how athletic everyone is on this thread. I'm just pleased I can (sort of) keep up. We're on hols this week for half term. Might be tricky getting all the work outs in but I'm determined.

My before and after alpha photos are attached. I've definitely lost a lot of wobbly belly but I've got a long way to go before I look like you girls!

WeekendsAreTooShort · 14/02/2015 12:01

morning all.impressed with the photos. did cardio power and resistance this am. I am trying the 8hr abs diet. ie only eat healthily within a 8 hr window. I woke up starving in the middle of the night and had a yogurt!! so not going too well so far. Felt huge progress in power jumps today. This is my 3rd round insanity and it's only now I feel I can do them properly.

You def should get yourself max 30 - it looks great

Boobz · 14/02/2015 13:59

Purple that's an amazing difference! How much have you lost? Was that 30 days?

Well bloody done.

Welcome Weekend - you sound nails!

Jacksterbear · 14/02/2015 14:24

Wow purple! Amazing tummy shrinkage. Fantastic stuff. Flowers

Jacksterbear · 14/02/2015 14:25

Oops - pom poms, obviously!

spookyskeleton · 14/02/2015 14:56

Hi, can I join? Started doing T25 2 weeks ago and am loving it. It is absolutely ideal for me as it is so short and I can get in from work, get changed and get it done.

I am really not keen on Total Body Circuit - it is pretty hideous as i hate all the push-up/plank stuff! Looking at the plan I can see we have to do it 2/3 times a week from now on Sad

Other than that, I like all the others but do suffer from aching feet/calves during cardio which means I have to drop to the modifier options even though I can still breathe. Don't know what it is but suspect it is from a drunken accident a couple of years ago when I badly twisted both ankles and they have never really been right ever since. I also can't do the calf hops in Lower Focus for the same reason.

I really enjoy the stretching one but I do enjoy yoga - I have been going for a long run (6-8 miles) on a Sunday morning and then doing the stretch dvd when I get back and it feels really good Smile I have been looking at the PiYo workouts and think I would quite enjoy those but want to shift weight doing more hardcore stuff first.

All the photos on here are amazing and great motivation. I am a size 16 so much bigger than most of you!

Fullsteamahead · 14/02/2015 16:26

Thanks very much for the lovely comments guys!

Purple, that is an incredible transformation! I'm simply gobsmacked! Well done you!!!

Boobz, thanks for the advice, I just SO hate counting calories, if only there was an easier way!

Fullsteamahead · 14/02/2015 16:29

Sorry, forgot to say hello Spookyskeleton and welcome! I'm with you on not liking TBC, it's bloody hard. I'm moving onto beta on Monday so we shall see what that brings! :)

spookyskeleton · 14/02/2015 18:25

Thanks fullsteam. The other weird issue that I have is that on the Lower Focus workout, I can do the whole lunge sequence with my right leg back but cannot even make it through the pulses, let alone to the end, with my left leg back Hmm anyone else have this??
