Anyone else starting a Beachbody workout programme? (T25, insanity etc)

yumyumpoppycat · 09/01/2015 16:16

Ok so my Focus T25 box has arrived today! Costs a lot but it has 11 25 minute work outs and some stretchy exercise band things. Idea is that because I have spent a lot I will have to knuckle down and see it through for the next 2 months.

I will probably try it over the weekend and start properly on mon. I am 3 stone overweight so this is going to be a mega challenge! Has anyone else recently started something similar or a new workout dvd and want to help motivate each other?

Alpha Abs this morning, I can't believe how weak my core has got! Really struggled with it.

Upside, can only get better!

yumyumpoppycat · 22/01/2015 18:19

Hi Imwoodword - alpha abs defo hardwork.

Amazing you are already seeing results purple Grin

Boobz I skipped through the you tube video, pretty cool that he was able to do those pushups with a little boy sitting on his back by the end, reminded me of the karate kid Grin

speed 1.0 done this am, unfortunately one of our builders arrived unexpectedly at 8.00 just as I was finishing and wearing my jaws t shirt and blue leggings and a red face ...v attactive.

Jacksterbear · 22/01/2015 18:47

poppycat I like the sound of your workout outfit! Grin

purple well done on the results.

Good work all!

Rest day today - had a chance to exercise but crawled into bed instead, knackered. Blush 9 times out of 10 I would force myself to exercise when knackered but just occasionally I think resting will be more beneficial!

Rip't Circuit (beta cycle) done yesterday.

yumyumpoppycat · 23/01/2015 09:24

cardio done! I didnt work as hard as yesterday though as my left knee has been hurting a little since yest when I go up and down stairs.

Well done for ript circuit Jackster - hope you're less tired today.

Motivational high fives and whoops all round!

Purpleraindeer · 23/01/2015 09:49

I've also answered the door mid work out poppy. Embarrassing!

Well done on rip'd circuit jackster. Even the name sounds hardcore. I guess I'll find out in 2 wks when I get to beta.

80/20 diet exercise makes sense now. It just means you're more likely to lose weight if you also diet as you can create a bigger calorie deficit. I see that as one t25 work out is only 300 Cals or 2 biscuits!

Did total body circuit this am and did all full press ups except the oblique ones at the very end. Yay! Felt able to say 'I nailed it' in my planner for the first time!

Jacksterbear · 23/01/2015 18:07

poppy well done on the cardio and hope the knee eases up.

purple that is awesome re full push-ups in TBC! Rip't Circuit is nowhere near as hard, IMO.

Insanity "Pure Cardio" done today. Actually felt sick in some bits but did it all, although a few breaks (only a few seconds) and in places was going A LOT slower than them!

Then went and ruined it by stuffing my face at DS' birthday tea God I love kids' party food. Hmm

yumyumpoppycat · 23/01/2015 23:07

Purple you nailed it! that is fantastic Grin

Jackster Insanity sounds scary Shock Knee has felt pretty much ok this afternoon thanks. I didn't do the cool down earlier as pressed for time, I think maybe it is the stretch where you hold one foot next to your bum cheek that has screwed up my knee?

Planning a double tomorrow am eek!

OP posts:
Purpleraindeer · 24/01/2015 15:04

Good luck with the double poppy. I think t25 is generally hard on the knees. Mine are sore too. I blame the lunges.

Just went out for lunch and stuffed my face. I think that pretty much wiped out the benefits of lower focus this morning and probably the next few days work outs too. Was worth it though!

yumyumpoppycat · 24/01/2015 16:44

Lower focus for me too today! Those narrow, wide, pulse hold lunges are hideous and the hoping on calf thing; but I do love that the 25 minutes goes pretty quickly. You have major respect from me Purple, exercising away baby tummy while your baby is still actually a baby! Good to enjoy a nice Saturday lunch Grin

I didn't do the double as my sis was popping round so I did exercise followed by bathroom cleaning workout Grin hoping to fit in the abs one this eve and then I will also undo my work with a curry with dp.

OP posts:
yumyumpoppycat · 25/01/2015 09:20

My 4 year old 'helped' me with abs yest eve (mainly by pressing on my back when I was in plank) she thinks shaun loves tania Grin she also quite enjoyed the tummy punching and thought we were being monkeys.

OP posts:
Imwoodword · 25/01/2015 13:06

Shaun and Tania are BFFs. Both of their husbands are also in T25 Smile

Jacksterbear · 25/01/2015 13:52

Omg imwoodword - I knew Shaun T's husband was called Scott but totally hadn't twigged it was the same Scott as the T25 one!!

Which one is Tania's hubby?

Grin at the "monkey" move poppy.

Nothing for me yest - will try to fit something in later today although busy afternoon with family visiting, and more bday cake (for DS).

Imwoodword · 25/01/2015 16:51

Derek is Tania's husband - the one with the "amazing" squats. He's not actually a fitness professional (he's a photographer) which is why his form isn't always great or he looks like he's struggling!

Purpleraindeer · 25/01/2015 18:00

I keep meaning to check out Derek's 'amazing' squats. I'm usually in my own private hell at that point so don't look at the tv.

There is a bit in TBC where the camera focuses on Scott and there is a puddle of sweat in front of him. Makes me wonder if I'm trying hard enough!

Jacksterbear · 26/01/2015 16:17

. I love Derek! And agree that he looks like he's struggling sometimes which is why I like him!

T25 Lower Focus plus 10 mins of stretching from the Insanity "cardio recovery" done today. Does anyone do the stretch/recovery dvds for either t25 or Insanity. I must confess I usually skip them or just do a short part of them. I probably should and they are probably good for flexibility but I can't help feeling like if I'm going to go to all the trouble of getting changed and spending precious time exercising, that I want to get my money's worth and see some sweat, iykwim! Grin

Urghh those lunge pulses and holds are nasty! Grin

Purpleraindeer · 27/01/2015 10:59

I've never done the stretch workout either for the same reason jackster

Last ever speed 1.0 done and rest day tomorrow before I do the last week of alpha. 3x TBC in one week. Eek

yumyumpoppycat · 27/01/2015 19:00

Hi all!

Purple that is so exciting that you are moving up to Alpha!

Really sweet that the folk on T25 are in relationships etc...DD was closer to the mark than I thought! Going to look out for Scott now! There is a nice vibe to the DVD, when I watch the shred DVDs I cant help but wonder whether or not they all get on, but I dont get that feeling with T25.

I haven't exercised the last 2 days as I have a head cold and bit of cough, think I will have to start again either tonight or tomorrow as don't want to get too far behind.

2 people commented that I was looking slim yesterday, it is def T25 rather than diet if they are right, as I am eating so much at the moment.

I haven't done the stretch dvd for the same reasons too!

OP posts:
Jacksterbear · 27/01/2015 20:21

purple good progress, nearly done with alpha! The beta round workouts are actually on the whole easier, IMO (although beta cardio is a bit nasty).
As you've provably gathered I am not following the programme as such but just hopping around my workout collection depending on how much time I have and what I feel like facing (but still trying to get a good strength:cardio bakance and work upper/lower/abs equally). I actually did a Jillian Michaels workout today (Ripped in 30 L2) for a change!

poppy I agree re the nice atmosphere on the T25 dvds. It's actually really different to the insanity set-up where they have loads more people in a much less intimate setting which I don't like as much - and is harder to follow! That's great re the slim comments. Hope you're feeling a bit better tmrw. Flowers

Purpleraindeer · 28/01/2015 08:38

Jackster, I love ripped in 30. I never got to level 4 as I got pregnant. Will ( hopefully) finish t25 then go back to it. I like the idea of doing a program. Somehow completing the challenge of doing all the workouts per the program is a motivator for me.
Did my weekly weigh in this am and am the same weight as last week so am a bit disappointed. I did go out for a big meal and have haggis on burns night but I thought I'd still lose something. I guess the 80% diet thing really is right! Oh well. Must try harder next week

Sarahlouboo · 28/01/2015 10:29

Hi everyone, please can I join in? Jacksterbear invited me across from the Shred thread where I kept talking about T25! I am a big Jillian Michaels fan but have been doing a bit of T25 with my DH and really enjoying it. Only done alpha speed, alpha full body (?) and beta ripped so far. Have tried Insanity in the past and loathed it so pleasantly surprised by T25. I tend to hop about and not do things in order. Laughing at your comments re all the relationships, DH is obsessed with trying to work out which one is Shaun T's boyfriend so know we know!

yumyumpoppycat · 28/01/2015 13:50

Hi sarahloubou (waves) great to have people to talk t25 with!

Wonder if Boobz is still around and made her target for skiing?

Purple I am the same, the discipline of having a program seems to be working for me, I am itching to get on it again!

I am still poorly Sad {feels sorry for self} I might do the stretch workout later as cant see myself doing anything more strenuous, so I will report back.

OP posts:
Jacksterbear · 28/01/2015 16:30

Onwards and upwards purple! Smile

Glad you found us Sarahlou. I must say I am not loving Insanity either and much prefer T25. I think I have bought into all the selling spiel for T25 about it being really time-efficient - and get a bit annoyed by the randomly long stretching intervals in Insanity, for example!

poppy sorry you're not well but will be interesting to have you as a guinea pig tester for the stretch DVD! Hope you feel better soon.

Insanity "cardio abs" (16 mins) plus the first half of "pure cardio" (11 mins crazy cardio plus 6 mins stretching) done today.

differentkindofpenguin · 28/01/2015 20:22

Can I geg in on this party? Started Beach Body workout 2 days ago, could not believe how tough it is but totally addictive! Looking for as much support as possible due to my crazy shifts and laziness

Imwoodword · 29/01/2015 11:24

I did Max Insanity 30 this morning, and honestly thought I was going to vomit.

It's HARD.

Jacksterbear · 29/01/2015 11:53

Hi penguin, which Beachbody workouts are you doing?

Imwoodword I've seen the trailers (plus people's FB video posts) of Max 30 - it looks horrendous!! Shock
