Anyone else starting a Beachbody workout programme? (T25, insanity etc)

yumyumpoppycat · 09/01/2015 16:16

Ok so my Focus T25 box has arrived today! Costs a lot but it has 11 25 minute work outs and some stretchy exercise band things. Idea is that because I have spent a lot I will have to knuckle down and see it through for the next 2 months.

I will probably try it over the weekend and start properly on mon. I am 3 stone overweight so this is going to be a mega challenge! Has anyone else recently started something similar or a new workout dvd and want to help motivate each other?

Spooky, sorry you also feel like this. It's really rubbish isn't it. I am going to get back to doing t25, just also need to sort out my weight. Thanks

Fullsteam, I will check out the tdee and MFP as well as that blog. Thank you too.
Right, next time I post it will be to say I've just done some T25. So sorry for bringing this thread down with my self pity.

Xxx

Not2bObvious · 18/04/2015 07:06

You did not bring the thread down Newbie, you just said what all of is feel from time time or in my case a lot Constantly trying to lose weight is really really hard, everything in our society is about food, food when we're happy, food when we're sad, we're bombarded! Add into a nice mix of super skinny 'slebs splashed over the TV/mags, and a society that likes to value people purely on the ability to starve and no wonder we feel like sh*t from time to time. I have a huge fear of meeting people from my past as well. I recommend you get yourself a nice dress, they can be very flattering, get the hair done, nice makeup and go in head held high, big smile and think how flattering it is someone thinks highly enough of you to recommend you for a job (if you want it of course) even having not working with you in years , you obviously made a positive impression.
5:2 is fantastic, it worked great for me for a long time. I just kind of outgrew it in a sense, the little demons in my head rebelled and I couldn't maintain the discipline but if you've tried everything else, give it a shot - it might be what you're looking for, the thread on mn is where I learnt loads about it. You better keep us all updated about this job! You've plenty of folk here who enjoy hearing from you x

Newrule · 18/04/2015 08:05

Just checking in. Now doing insanity Max 30.

Purpleraindeer · 18/04/2015 10:27

Hey new rule. How are you finding max30? I have to say it's pushing me. Did Friday fight today - that is a hard workout and doesn't feel easier now on my 4th time!
Sorry you're feeling down newbie. Good advise re the tdee. I think I will take that myself. Have a good day everyone

Fullsteamahead · 19/04/2015 10:43

Jacksterbear · 19/04/2015 11:55

Hi guys. Just back from holiday so checking back in. Smile Haven't had a chance to read back through the thread yet but hope you're all ok.

Managed to exercise x6 on a 10 day holiday (and 2 of the 10 days were travelling days), and didn't put on any weight despite eating and drinking more than usual, so pretty pleased.

Will have a proper read-through later to see what you've all been up to!

Nice to be back. Smile

Newbiecrafter · 19/04/2015 16:15

hello everyone

welcome back from your hols, Jackster. working out on hoiliday is amazing! and no weight gain - doubly so!

Not2be, hello. Thanks so much for the tip about 5:2. I'm going to give this a go and if it doesn't work, then i'll try a vlcd. I'm on my first fast day today, and have been reading up about it and also some of the inspirational stories linked to on one of the threads. THANK YOU SO MUCH for pointing me in the right direction!

Fullsteam - I can totally relate to the doing the damage; still working on the working it off the next day. hope your workout went well.

xxx

Not2bObvious · 19/04/2015 16:38

Best of luck on 5:2 Newbie, first week I did it I dropped nearly 5 pounds, it evened off but over around 8 months I lost about 19 pound ( I regained it and then some but very slowly/sneakily)
I know 19 pound isn't much but it made a huge different. Some folk doing it, properly not like I did, lost a good solid 2 pound a week. But what I noticed most, even though the weight loss was slow my shape changed quick enough and I got down to a 12 from a 14 quick enough. It's a good plan, and it's just 2 days a week. Keep busy and you'll get through.
Barely a step taken the last 2 days, like a sloth! But hey ho, once I get my test behind me I'll be in better form. Hope everyone's in good form

spookyskeleton · 20/04/2015 07:29

Morning everyone. New week, new start...

Am going to give the TDEE method a go! Do I include my exercise as extra calories or not?

boobz hope your recovery is going well. Wow, those diamond push ups Shock

I really don't like the look of Cize - reminds me a lot of Bodyjam classes at the gym which I kept trying but never really enjoyed Grin don't think I will be buying it. I do want PiYo - those of you who have it, what do you think of it?

Sarahlouboo · 20/04/2015 19:51

Hi guys! Hope you are all ok. I really struggled to get myself motivated today. I did beta core speed. Did beta rip't and a 4 mile walk at the weekend but also did lots of eating and drinking! Ah well. Week 5 of beta, don't think there will be any transformations going on here but I feel fitter and I am maintaining which is good for me.

Welcome back Jackster and I am dead impressed that you kept up the exercise!

Newbie - hope you are feeling better and good luck with 5:2!

TOTM and I feel Shock!

Purpleraindeer · 20/04/2015 20:11

Hi all
Seems like we're all struggling with eating. I've found that since I stopped mfp I have gradually got worse with my eating I'm not gaining weight but I'm now not losing either. I keep promising that I'll be stricter again tomorrow and something always gets in the way.
Did cardio today - is my last week of max 30mth 1 and it def felt a lot easier than when I first did this work out. Was amazed I managed it tbh as was up for most of the night with a teething ds. Was so tired I felt drunk first thing but a bit of Shaun t seemed to give me a second wind. Shattered again now tho

Fullsteamahead · 20/04/2015 22:31

Hi guys,

Welcome back Jackster! Great job on staying good on hols. It looks like you've been doing the best out of all of us food wise even though the rest of us weren't on holiday!!!

Purple, hugs to you! All I can say is I'm so glad those sleepless nights are behind me! Stay strong, I'm sure things will improve soon (when he gets the tooth I suppose :)))

Hello to everybody else and enjoy your week!

yumyumpoppycat · 21/04/2015 19:04

I am totally flunking diet and exercise at the mo! I am bfmummy on mfp maybe I should try and log with you guys for moral support - if anyone wants to add me please let me know your mumsnet name and I can add you as a friend. I haven't logged my food in ages as usually looking at what I eat is more effective but I have lost my mojo!

Spooky I don't love piyo nearly as much as t25 tbh, it is hard though and prob great if you like pilates.

Newbiecrafter · 21/04/2015 19:53

Hello everyone.

Nothing to report on the T25 front, but day 3 of 5:2 and my second fast day. I have my interview tomorrow and the emergency suit I had to buy at the weekend is ever so slightly less tight when I tried it on this evening. Yesterday I ate what I normally do minus the 2 bags of crisps, choc bar and coconut macaroon so it so far doesn't feel too bad. I also started my period at the weekend so hoping the extra pounds I was horrified by were to do with that. I am still far too heavy for me but feel better in my head that at least I'm doing something about it.

I hated buying new stuff as i really dont like how i look in anything including the new suit, but my normal clothes are so scruffy, that I needed something. I like suits as they are a sort of uniform and I can hopefully hide myself under it.

Thanks so much for all the support on here I do feel better.

Purple hope you little ones teeth come through soon. Sleepless nights and waking up drunk is hard going. I'm in awe that you managed to press play let alone complete a workout. Hope you get a good night tonight.

yummypoppy, hope you find your mojo soon. sorry if my pity party had a negative effect on you or anyone else.

Boobz, hope all is going well with your recovery and treatment.

Everyone else, thanks again, esp Not2Be for suggesting 5:2.

Not2bObvious · 21/04/2015 20:04

Delighted to hear you decided to give 5:2 a go Newbie, have to admit after suggesting it I went back and revisited the thread, I see you're getting great advice from the experts over there, dem girls know their sh*t Wink And just think if the suit fits ok this evening, it'll be fine tomorrow. I hope the interview goes really well. I think I was at my most positive when doing 5:2, it gave me a confidence I don't think I ever had before - it's like you got control over food, that might sound odd but having to be disciplined 2 days a week did wonders for me, made me feel strong. I might rejoin and see you over there! I fasted for nearly 30 hours for my colonoscopy, my previous experience at 5:2 made it doable. Had the procedure and all looks ok, thank god! Going to look into genetic blood tests if I can but feeling more positive that things will be ok. Hopefully tomorrow my cramps will be gone and I can do some gentle exercise, off 1 more day and then back to work.
Fingers x'ed I'll get back to watching the Divine Mr T soon, such a pity he's not a ladies man but it's better than watching Jilli getting all icky with her backing girls Confused

Jacksterbear · 21/04/2015 20:37

A lovely welcome back, thanks all. Smile Did lots of swimming and walking up and down cliffs on hols which I think must have cancelled out the extra wine, ice cream and chips!

Not2be, so glad your procedure went ok and results looking good.

Newbie great to see you sounding much more positive; sending many positive vibes and virtual pom-pom waving etc for your job interview.

spooky I can't quite make up my mind about PiYo; it's ok when mixed in with a higher-paced set of workouts like T25, but can't imagine doing it on its own.

poppy congrats on finishing T25 and the weight loss. Can't see your pics from my phone but will take a look next time I'm on my desktop. If you're feeling uninspired by PiYo (like me) can you mix it up with something else?

Waves and pats on back to everyone else.

Boobz hope you're doing ok.

Having a T25 beta week this week: dynamic core (or is it dynamic abs? I can never remember!) and speed 2.0 done.

Newbiecrafter · 21/04/2015 21:25

Not2be, I had no idea the procedure was imminent. Hope it wasn't too uncomfortable. So pleased to hear everything is okay. That must be a relief.
You're not wrong about 5:2. All day today I've been telling myself I can eat tomorrow. That is really liberating, so can completely understand what you mean when you say when it made you feel strong. Normally on a diet, its all about what you can't have, this is about not having something for today only. Ive been told to eat to my TDEE which is 1800 cals which is a lot so yesterday I was able to eat normally just minus the rubbish stuff.
I really am grateful that you pointed me in their direction. I'll def keep you company if you do decide to start it again.xxx

Jackster, thanks for the good wishes. i'll keep you all posted.

yummy, just thinking, if it wasn't for you starting this thread I would never have tried T25 and the collective of lovely people on here would never have come together. SO although you're mojo is temporarily missing, we know you are still mojo-licious and have what it takes so don't be too hard on yourself. Just get back to it when you can. xxx

Newbiecrafter · 21/04/2015 21:27

Oh, Not2Be, I forgot to say, if you have a chance in the next day or so, check out TalkinPeace's photo's on her profile. Her before and afters are on there at the moment. xxx

Not2bObvious · 21/04/2015 22:18

Oh I saw the pics, another reminder of how sticking with 5:2 works! ?? There won't be any of my hol pics from next week but maybe by my next hol in August I'll be bikini ready. I only got 1 weeks notice for procedure as some numpty never sent the letter out! Got a text last Tuesday, which was ehh nice Hmm

Sarahlouboo · 22/04/2015 06:18

Just popping on to say hi and good luck with the job interview Newbie Grin!

Purpleraindeer · 22/04/2015 11:11

Not2be - am glad it went ok
Poppy - do you think you need a new challenge? I was a bit lost when I finished t25 hence the immediate investment in max30. Maybe you could do a hybrid work out using a combo of multiple beach body ones. Google hybrid workout and you get a clever website that does it for you.

I've decided I've been a bit slack recently with diet so am back on mfp - username is the same as here if anyone wants to friend me. My plan is to do mfp in the week at 1200 Cals and then be more relaxed at weekends. I work out in the living room and can see the ghost of a 6 pack so ideally want to get it to be an actual one before I go back to work in mid June. Also would be good to do 15 diamond push ups like boobz but that might be a step too far Grin

Purpleraindeer · 22/04/2015 11:12

Sorry posted too soon. Thanks for all the sympathy re ds teething. We're seeking solace in calpol and bonjella at the mo! It's true - boys def make more of a fuss

yumyumpoppycat · 22/04/2015 11:23

Newbie thanks for the lovely message and good luck with interview!

You are right purple I need a challenge and structure, that is a great idea to look for a formal hybrid rather than just adhoc hybrid. Right tomorrow I am back on it like a bonnet. As Boobz would say I am writing it down so I have to do it Grin (mumbles excuse ... lunch with a friend and night out with the kids and dsis tonight)

Thanks all for your support and inspiration everyone.

Jacksterbear · 22/04/2015 14:33

Yay poppycat! Good decision. Did you make your profile private again, btw? Now on desktop but still can't see it (but also can't see anyone else's other than mine Confused).

PiYo Buns done today - ouch! - pleasing crampy sort of feeling in the side of my hips now!

Hi to Purple and Sarah. Purple I may check out those hybrids - I'm doing a make-it-up-as-you-go-along mash-up at the moment, but maybe I could do with some more structure and discipline!

How did it go Newbie?

spookyskeleton · 22/04/2015 15:03

Hey everyone Smile

newbie how did it go? Did you feel OK in your suit?

Not2be glad the procedure was straight forward - fingers crossed everything is OK.

We all seem to have fallen off the wagon slightly Shock I am back on it this week although have only done dynamic core on Monday. Didn't have time (not even 25 minutes!) yesterday and I am going for a run tonight but have taken the view that I will just keep going along the schedule even if it is not all in the same week (if that makes sense!) so it may take me 6-7 weeks to complete beta but I want to keep up with my running Aswell.

Am trying to do the Tdee 'diet' - 3 days in of eating at 80% of my goal weight and it is going OK.
