Anyone else starting a Beachbody workout programme? (T25, insanity etc)

yumyumpoppycat · 09/01/2015 16:16

Ok so my Focus T25 box has arrived today! Costs a lot but it has 11 25 minute work outs and some stretchy exercise band things. Idea is that because I have spent a lot I will have to knuckle down and see it through for the next 2 months.

I will probably try it over the weekend and start properly on mon. I am 3 stone overweight so this is going to be a mega challenge! Has anyone else recently started something similar or a new workout dvd and want to help motivate each other?

How did you get on with the first insanity month 2 workout? I found them a real shock, it made month 1 look like a walk in the park!

I've been struggling for the last week with a torn intercostal muscle, have had to resort to an hour on the bike doing hill intervals and sprints every morning as it hurts my chest to jump around too much - can't wait to get back to insanity.

Well done on the diamonds purple - hardcore!

Fullsteamahead · 14/04/2015 21:47

OMFG!!!! Excuse the language! There has never been a time when I checked the clock on the screen quite as frequently as tonight!!! And I never knew it was an hour long!!! That truly was a killer! I'm so proud I got through it even though I did slow right down at the end and modified one exercise as well!

Sarah, Lol at swallowing the flies, really made me chuckle!

Speedy, so sorry to hear about your muscle issue, hope you get better soon! Hugs! I've not done the full Month 1 of Insanity yet, I'm currently doing a hybrid of T25 and Insanity, I've posted a calendar for it somewhere up the thread. I'm hoping it'll prepare me for full Insanity block upon completion, that said after tonight I might just reconsider and go for Insanity Max 30 ;)

Sleepy, so glad you are feeling better, it's great you aree getting back to Alpha next week, it's not taken you long to recover at all. Well done!!!

Purpleraindeer · 15/04/2015 07:08

Sorry to hear about the injury speedy
Glad you're making a recovery too sleepy. They do say a strong core helps your back not get injured so hopefully you won't be so unlucky again
Ha ha re flies Sarah. My DH runs and he often comes back with flies drowned in the sweat on his face Shock. I miss running. I used to run regularly but I can't quite see how to fit it in around dcs and my husbands running.
Anyway. Sweat intervals for me today. I hate this one and always find it hard.
Well done on the hour long insanity fullsteam. I love max30 as its intense and quick but I can't help wondering if I could handle insanity...... I don t want to buy another £100 worth of DVDs. Did anyone get them second hand?

yumyumpoppycat · 15/04/2015 16:18

Still here watching you all. Day 6 of no Insanity following lumpectomy last Thursday. The longest I have not done any exercise (since June 2014), matching my skiing week in Feb - tomorrow will break the record. Can feel myself getting flabbier - GROAN.

Not2bObvious · 16/04/2015 06:22

How are you feeling Boobz? Apart from missing the exercise? I haven't done anything this week myself, have a colonoscopy early next week which I was waiting for but the hospital cocked up and only told me Tuesday. Bit worried and as a result have been off the plan so feeling a bit meh. If I get a decent night sleep I'll give it a go in the morning. As usual folks, you're all doing great. Reading about all your hard work is nearly exercise right? Grin Here in spirit if not in sweat Wink

Purpleraindeer · 16/04/2015 07:59

Hi boobz. I hope you're recovering ok. Is there any exercise you can do or is it absolutely nothing? Remember once you've been v fit it is much easier to get back there so I'm sure you'll find once you do start exercising again it won't take long to get back. And tell me - can you do diamond push ups?? I need to know they're not impossible. I tried them on my husband and he couldn't do any so that wasn't much help!
Hope the colonoscopy goes ok not2be. You need lots of distraction whilst you wait. I reckon Shaun t could be just the distraction you need!
Rest day for me (yay!). But I suspect a day with 2 dc under 2 will not actually be that restful.....

Boobz · 16/04/2015 08:56

Am feeling ok - want to get on and have some treatment rather than all of these diagnostic tests so I can just get on with eradicating the cancer from my body.

No Insanity, that's for sure! I could do some walking I suppose, but I am not really a walker...

Diamond push ups! They take me back - are you doing P90X? Shh, don't tell my surgeon, but I wanted to check I could still do them, and took a little video to prove it - see below. Hope link works!

Ali banging out some diamond push ups

I only did 5 or 6 in the video but reckon I could probably do 15 at a push.

Purpleraindeer · 16/04/2015 11:51

Diamond push ups feature in max30. 15!? Now I have a target! I LOVE this thread!
What about cycling, or something low impact?

Sarahlouboo · 16/04/2015 20:52

Well done Fullsteam!

Hi Boobz! You make those diamond push-ups look soooo easy!

Purple - I don't run as often as I would like, it's so much easier to stick a DVD on when you have children isn't it?!

Newbie - how are your knees?

How is everyone else getting on?

I rested yesterday then did beta core cardio today and I loved it! Nailed it apart from stupid plank diagonal lifts. Felt properly high afterwards instead of just knackered Grin.

Fullsteamahead · 16/04/2015 21:47

Hello everybody,

Boobz, great to hear from you! Those diamond push-ups are amazing!!!

Purple, I'm really starting to think I'll have to do insanity Max 30 once I complete my hybrid! I'm pretty sure I'll be able to cope with 30 mins but an hour of Month 2 Insanity really kills me at the mo.

Did Insanity Max Plyo (month2) today which was bloody hard but I did a little better than two days ago :) Some weird and wonderful exercises in this one like huge diamond jumps and oblique pushups when you stand sort of sideways on the floor.

Yesterday I did T25 Dynamic core followed by Abs Intervals and felt like it was a walk in the park in comparison to Insanity Month 2!

My weight has stagnated again, I've been stuck on 56.5 kg over the last two weeks :( I know I'm gaining more muscle and that might be the explanation but would love to lose some more weight. Perhaps I should be reviewing my TDEE and reducing calorie intake further but the problem is that I just constantly want to stuff my face!

Fullsteamahead · 16/04/2015 22:29

Have you guys seen this???!!! It looks amazing!!! Can't wait!

Purpleraindeer · 17/04/2015 07:08

Ooh that cize thing looks fun! Although I don't think I want to spend £100 to prove the fact that I am an awful dancer. I'd need a try before you buy! I did like watching Shaun t dance tho. I think I now have a crush on him Blush

Fullsteam, I think the idea is that max30 is a sprint vs full insanity being something longer so if I've done a max30 properly I'm absolutely exhausted at the end (need a lie down, feel a bit dizzy etc). So, the thought that it is only 30mins is good, but at the same time I know how hard it is going to be. I guess I'm trying to say that mentally it's probably the same - in insanity you know it is going to be a long tough work out, in max 30 you know it is going to be a shorter work out but in each case you'll be broken at the end of it.
Tabata power for me again today and round 2 of diamond push ups. Boobz made them look so easy!

Boobz · 17/04/2015 07:32

Erm, I can't dance. I know he says on that link everyone can, but I definitely can't.

So from those people doing Max Insanity 30, would you say it's easier or harder than Month 2 Insanity, if you've done both?

My friend did a diamond push up video like mine and posted it on my wall just above my video, where she basically just collapses on the floor. Hilarious! I think I have started an internet meme!

Sarahlouboo · 17/04/2015 10:06

Um, just got down on my office floor and tried a diamond push up Grin (locked the door first!). My diamond push ups are the same as my normal push ups i.e. my chest gets nowhere near the floor! It's laughable really. One day...

Purpleraindeer · 17/04/2015 10:19

Well I managed 2 sets of 3 diamond push ups. Don't think I got close enough to the floor tho. Was better than tues when I fell on my face tho!
Boobz given that you can do 15 I suspect you wouldn't find max30 month 1 too challenging. Will let you know when I get to month 2.

Not2bObvious · 17/04/2015 10:51

Oooh, loving the look of that Cize workout. I think we can all dance, it's just we're not any good Grin
I'm still lazy as sin and have been a total glutton as feeling anxious about tests - although when I hear from you Boobz and see how positive and upbeat it makes me cop on. It's only a bit of discomfort, it'll be all over in a few days- I'll deal with the results when they come. Hope you're doing ok Boobz, not too sore and you get a start in the eradication as you say. I made such a pig of myself yesterday, I'm fasting til lunchtime, I'm going to be on very little food for the next few days anyway, no harm to get back in the habit. I did 5:2 for about 1.5 years so I know I can manage it. Not sure if I'll manage any T25 tomorrow but I'd like to get 2/3 in before Monday but I might be being overly optimistic! Hope everyone's enjoying their Friday Wink

Fullsteamahead · 17/04/2015 13:30

Hello and happy Friday to you all! ??

I've not yet tried Insanity Max 30 so can't compare either. I just find an hour long workout takes out too much time out of my day so if the results from Max30 were comparable with Insanity it would definitely be my preferred choice.

Of course I had to try diamond push-ups too last night, only managed 5! Still have lots of work ahead to build up my upper body strength.

Did T25 today, lower focus and upper focus.

My shoulder hurts today after all those pushups yestreday but I've got two days off to look forward to now. I'm done for this week!!! What's more I just realised that OH is away with the kids for the whole day tomorrow and I'm having a day all to myself! Yippee! Already arranged to meet up with a friend for a coffee :)

Have a fab Friday everyone!

Newbiecrafter · 17/04/2015 13:52

Hello everyone

Sorry I've not been on here for a while. Haven't done anything since last week so feeling a bit rubbish.

BooBz, fingers crossed that all the results come back soon so you can get on with treatment. You are amazing !

sleepy, yayyyy that you're feeling better. Are you okay ti carry on with excerscisng in the same way? All that core work will hopefully help strengthen your back.

Sarah, my knees have been very sore. Thanks for asking. I think they hurt less when I was doing t25 everyday. Not sure what's wrong with me but can't quite get back into it. I will though. I hope.

Sarah, Purple, Fullsteam and Speedy, you ladies are properly hardcore! I am in awe. I sometimes feel like I was born without any oomph or get up and go. I wonder if it's possible to buy some.

Not2be, hope the procedure goes okay. It'll be over before you know it and fingers crossed you get the results quickly. I also haven't done anything exercise wise. I weighed myself and I ama ow the heaviest I have ever been, even more than in jan when I started to LC bootcamp. I seriously need to lose weight but am utterly crap at feeding myself well. I di th it amp for6 weeks but stopped after getting really bad reflux and having to take omeprazole. Just didn't feel right so added carbs in and felt much better.

I'm considering doing one of those vlcd type plans. I would be quite happy to just not eat for a while but nit sure if the are any that are suitable for dairy intolerance and Hashimoto's. I now have 51 lbs to lose and am sick of the you dieting and getting nowhere with my effeorts. I think having an underactive thyroid def doesn't help. Have any of you tried these? I have always been a ain't the but am really seriously considering something to help get the weight offs as I believe once it's off ,lol have more luck keeping it off, if that makes sense. What I have tried so far has not worked beyond 10 lbs and it's always been so so slow.

I will get back to t25 but seeing the scales had gone up, freaked me out a bit so I've been comforting myself with food. Blush

Not2bObvious · 17/04/2015 18:55

Flowers for you Newbie - it's very tough shifting weight, I'm scale dodging myself at the minute. Hopefully you get your head in the zone, not a huge fan of vlcd, but I can understand the attraction. My advice if you'd like it would be use Mfp and eat at 20% less than your goal weight tdee for 5 days, 1 day at 100% goal weight tdee and 1 relaxed day (not too cal'crazy) - give that 3 weeks if you can and see where it gets you. At least you'd get used to eating near the calorie range at the weight you'd like to be. Oh and also be honest about what's a good weight for you now - not like the weight you were as a teenager (in my case I thought I was hefty at 9.4, ffs, youth is totally wasted on the young!)
The info above was learned from one of the brilliant people on the 5:2 thread, it makes sense to me. Now, if I could only take my advice if be the 10 stone I dream of! Be kind to yourself missy Wink

Newbiecrafter · 17/04/2015 19:57

Not2be, you're amazing. Thank you. So sorry for the ongoing poor me pity party.

I will have a look at the tdee thing you mention. Just need to work it out. Thanks for your understanding, it helps a lot, I don't really have anyone to talk to in real life about this so really means a lot to be able to vent on here.

I'm mega annoyed at myself. Have been recommended, out of the blue by someone I haven't seen for years and years for a job and have an interview next week. I have to go clothes shopping which I hate at the best off times as every year my size goes up. I need a suit, and I have one in they are robe which is an ise 12 from austin reed but I know I will be having to buy another one that will be ill fitting and I will feel nit as confident as I might. I haven't worked since having kids and the thought of seeing people that knew me before fills me with dread. I'm going to venture out to the shops tomorrow as need something smart and shoes too.

I'm only considering the vlcd as a last last resort. So fa for the last three years I have been trying and failing to lose weight. And ask a exult am now heavier than I have ever been. I need to do something and do I think due to my self image I hide away, both in clothes that shroud me but also from life really and the slow weightloss/stalling has been really nit very good for me mentally, if that makes sense.

Anyway, thanks again so much forthepointers about tdee. I've never hit my head around that but will try to now. Thanks for you along with big hugs and xxxx

Newbiecrafter · 17/04/2015 20:04

Gah! Sorry for all the typos. I think my iPad is dying!

spookyskeleton · 17/04/2015 20:08

That information about the TDEE is very useful, thank youSmile have just rejoined MFP as I am losing the battle with my weight and I don't know what else to try!

newbie I think I am very much like you as I am also heavier than ever despite years of trying all sorts of diets. I also dread bumping into people I haven't seen for ages as I look so bad Sad

I have got quite good at disguising my weight but it is getting harder and harder to do this as I get bigger.

Will post more in a mo as my tea is ready.

Fullsteamahead · 17/04/2015 21:50

Newbie, I have to agree with the advice above regarding joining MFP and setting up your TDEE.

If I were you I would give 5:2 a shot, I did it for a while and found it was very manageable, you'd be amazed at the amount of things you can eat within 500 cal allowance. Also it's great as you always know that it's only for one day and next day you can eat normally (but try not to overeat).

There is a great 5:2 FB group where you'd be able to get loads of support from likeminded people, think it's be great for you since you don't have much support on real life. The group is run by a brilliant lady called Andrea who has a fab blog called Forking foodie. Look it up, she's got tons of recipes for 5:2!

Even though I've now moved on from 5:2 as I'm exercising a lot more and need to watch my macros, I still regard it greatly (think id always choose it over any yo yo short term diet)

Good luck!!!
