Anyone else starting a Beachbody workout programme? (T25, insanity etc)

yumyumpoppycat · 09/01/2015 16:16

Ok so my Focus T25 box has arrived today! Costs a lot but it has 11 25 minute work outs and some stretchy exercise band things. Idea is that because I have spent a lot I will have to knuckle down and see it through for the next 2 months.

I will probably try it over the weekend and start properly on mon. I am 3 stone overweight so this is going to be a mega challenge! Has anyone else recently started something similar or a new workout dvd and want to help motivate each other?

Upper Focus, I meant.

Oh and purple, good NSV re the dress (but yes, expensive needing a new wardrobe!) I agree re doubles - I can do a 50/60 min workout no problem when it's a single workout, but psychologically find it impossible to do 2x 25 mins ones.

Newbiecrafter · 04/04/2015 00:19

Hello again

Boobz, good luck for all the tests coming up. Keeping everything crossed for you.

Thanks for the tips re doing the double. I failed miserably today as we had a busy day and I opted for a lie in instead of a workout. Ended the day with a curry andy wine and lots of fun with my sisters so I don't feel too despondent about it. I will do the double tomorrow without fail and will then hopefully be back on track. Will also aim to measure and weigh and get some before pics too.

Thanks again, so much, for the support and encouragement. I still can't beleve I've done 4 days and I will do the double tomorrow, so all is not lost. Yummy, I find my knees are very aire on the day I have done the workouts but not at all sore the next day. I am still scared that they will go, but as said before they used to 'go' anyway, so and trying to not worry about them hurting too much as I think I have stopped myself doing anything for fear of the pain for too long.

Easter Grin Well done Sleepy! That's brilliant. Dying to hear how your double goes Newbie, I'm aching today, my gut (can't say abs as I don't have any yet) are in a heap and as for my bum, argh. Going for a massage soon, I don't suppose I could ask for a tummy/bum rib without looking like a right perv? Damn you Shaun, you evil fine thing!

Not2bObvious · 04/04/2015 09:38

rub not rib - doesn't make that sentence much less disturbing thoughEaster Hmm

Jacksterbear · 04/04/2015 20:09

Newbie did u get the double done today?

Well done for keeping up the weight loss despite the lack of exercise, sleepy. And liked the pic. Grin

V jealous of massage Not2be. I do love a massage. Not had one in a while. Hope you enjoyed it.

PiYo Core done today. Still not sure what I think of PiYo! Confused

Purpleraindeer · 04/04/2015 22:16

Well done on the weight loss sleepy. I love the motivational picture too!
Managed Friday fight today. burpee lunges are evil
Rest day tomorrow. Will stuff my face with Easter eggs to celebrate
Boobz do report back on Barry's boot camp. I've always wanted to give that a go.

Newbiecrafter · 04/04/2015 23:26

Sleepy, yayyy to the weightloss. Love he motivational image. Think I'm a little bit in love with Shaun T Blush

jackster and Not2b - OM effing G!!!! The double was hard work. I am only doing the modifier but I had to stop a few times as was just pooped. The lower body workout was hard on my knees. But carried on , just did even less deep squats and got through it. So far the lower body one is the worst one for me. I quite enjoyed the cardio, but honestly Scott! You need some support! I actually could look at the tv an just looked sideways like a prim spinster out of a jane Austen period drama. That man can swing.

I kept hearing a noise like when you let air out of a balloon by pulling the neck apart, you know, that squeak. It was a but off putting and def came from the dvd. It was ages before i figured out it was Tanya, I think, going yayy!

I cannot move as fast as she does, so just did whats I could. I did though, yayyy!

I'm going to weight and measure myself tomorrow and might even take some photos. I don't like getting on my scales as they tell me I am about45% body fat, so really hoping that number improves.

Not2b, hope you'e feeling less sore this evening. I'm gonna be sore tomorrow.

Thanks so much for asking afterlife me. Hope you're all having a good easter weekend so far. I'm doing the stretch one Tomorrow and looking forward to it. Seriously it's a bit like I'm possessed and something else has taken me over. I am actually looking forward to doing an exercise dvd. Thank you fellow beachbody'ers, for helping me get started.

By the way, has anyone tried the shakeology shakes ? Am tempted to get a protein powder of some sort but I can't really tolerate dairy in any great quantity, so wondering what my options are. The shakeology stuff seems SO expensive.

yumyumpoppycat · 04/04/2015 23:55

Core Cardio Beta done today - bloody hell its hard.

Newbie fab work - it is weirdly addictive! I can't understand why I have never noticed any of the short action! I have noticed one of the women's tummys in beta though as the muscles seem to move and am worried she has muscle separation. Maybe that's what being ripped looks like Confused

Jackster snap re piyo, but I think if I can persist with the odd workout it will be good for me as I have terrible posture. I am worried about form though as no mirrors to check in (other than one at face level). Very different to t25 though and all the 'you're welcome' was getting on my tits. I need to give it more time though!

Love that picture sleepy Grin

Happy Easter everyone Easter Smile

Right, enough procrastinating from me. Am going to do this properly from tomorrow!

I am going to take some 'before' photos even though they will be hideous, am going to watch what I eat and I am not going to quit.

I have just booked a holiday in 5 months time and I want to be a size 12 - I am currently a size 16 so should be doable.

Am going back onto beta as I cannot face TBC again Easter Grin so the plan is 5 weeks of beta then maybe a hybrid of alpha and beta?? Not really sure but will cross that bridge when I get to it!

Sorry for the me me me post but wanted to get it down on here so I stick to it!

I feel a bit shy of joining in here. I have PiYo, found it bloody hard, my core is rubbish. I also have P90 and 21Day Fix. The one I am doing at the moment is an old Beachbody workout called Slim in Six, it is more my level at the moment. Still makes me sore the next day, but I think that is more about my lack of fitness.
Shakeology - I have vegan Chocolate, which I like but it is very carby - I am doing Low carb now and can't justify the carbs. I found the vanilla (not vegan) truly vile. Greenberry equally horrible. The strawberry or berry vegan is ok. I don't know about English brands - I tend to buy it when visiting relatives in America - but I found one in a Trader Joe's type place called Vega that I liked better. Hope that helps.

yumyumpoppycat · 05/04/2015 13:50

Hi lbnblbnb welcome aboard Grin don't be shy everyone on here is lovely and the more the merrier. My core is totally pants and my bingo wings triceps are floppy and wont let me do pushups.... but my biceps are beginning to become more defined ... not exactly guns, but I am pleased!

Good plan re beta spooky I prefer it to alpha.

spookyskeleton · 05/04/2015 15:12

lbnblbnb welcome, everyone is lovely here so don't be shy.

Yes, I much prefer beta to alpha although I did like lower focus, speed 1.0 and abs intervals so I think I could put together a hybrid along with running once I get through 5 weeks of beta. Might even try gamma Aswell Easter Wink

Can't help with the shakes as never tried them but will be keen to see how you get on with them as might be persuaded.

Fullsteamahead · 05/04/2015 21:25

Hello everybody and Happy Easter!

Well, I've been a complete pig today and have stuffed my face with chocolate, hot cross buns, ice cream and then topped it up with more chocolate and wine in the evening! Think my MFP melted! Back to hard work tomorrow, starting week three of my hybrid :)

Welcome Ibn, great to have you aboard!

With regards to the protein shakes I use this stuff www.myprotein.com/sports-nutrition/impact-diet-whey/10530657.html

The company is great, always very fast delivery, good offers and a great range of products. They do a good range of vegan powders including hemp and pea proteins but this one seems to be the most popular one
www.myprotein.com/sports-nutrition/vegan-blend/10637445.html

I can't personally vouch for it as I've not tried it though.

I buy impact diet whey in vanilla cookie flavour and it tastes great. I mix it with 200 ml of water, 50 ml of milk or almond milk, some chia seeds and some fruit. It tastes like a lovely milkshake.

Hope it helps :)

Newbiecrafter · 06/04/2015 00:16

Hello lbn. I'm only a week I to t25 and everyone on this thread has been amazingly welcoming and friendly and supportive, so don't feel shy about joining.

Thanks everyone for the Infor about protein powders. I have tried pea protein and it is vile Envy so will look into the vegan options.

Re shorts watch... It seems that the shorts worn in cardio are so far by far the worst, not that I've been looking

I did my first 'stretch' today and even that was hard, but I liked it a lot. Not as lovely as a massage but a good stretch was def needed after yesterday's double.

Thanks again and happy Monday. Flowers

Not2bObvious · 06/04/2015 07:37

Morning all, welcome lbnb, like Newbie I just joined a week ago and really find the company great, so encouraging. Anyone else I mention it to can't get over the fact I spent so much on the DVDs Grin It will be a small price to pay if I get the results it promises over the 10 weeks. I did a c25k session yesterday, just a week 2 session but I ran more than I walked, then took part in an Easter egg hunt that took in over 5 miles! Followed by a lunch that I can't even start to add to mfp but I guess I should, if your mfp melted fullsteam mind might just self combust! After all my running/walking/nearly hiking/eating/drinking I went into a come for over 10 hours. I was wacked out, but it saved me eating anymore falling asleep at 7.30- proper party bunny meEaster Confused
I started to think this morning what if I did doubles every second day rather than the 25 mins every day as I'm finding that a bit of a challenge. I reckon I could do it - might give it a stab starting today? As I walk, on a working day, around 4 miles them I'd get some form of movement in the other 2 days I'm not T 25'ing.
Any feedback? Loving having today off, Easter rocksEaster Smile

Purpleraindeer · 06/04/2015 09:59

Welcome lbn! Don't be shy. I love finding more people who like to chat about Shaun t and t25. All my friends think I'm weird.
Lots of chat about protein shakes. What is the value in having them? Are they meal replacements? I thought they were only for body builders to help them get big muscles??
Not2be - I'd stick with doing singles 4dpw and a double day for a bit longer. You'll find you get less stiff and tired as your body gets used to the exercise. I'm sure someone else can explain why it's also better to exercise more frequently for less time than it is to do less frequent long sessions - I think it might be to do with metabolic rate? I will do max cardio this am at some point. I'm still feeling a bit tired from Saturdays work out but I'm sure I'll feel fine once I start. I've eaten a world of calories over the last few days so I need to compensate for them somehow!

lbnblbnb · 06/04/2015 12:34

Slim in six is getting easier - need to go up to the next level I think. When do you all exercise? I am on holiday (I'm a teacher) but have revision sessions each morning for the next four days. So I have to leave early (8am), but not as early as normal work days (7am). The next level of Slim in Six lasts 50 minutes. I have failed terribly at getting up to exercise in the past - any tips? I know I basically have to get up , but anything that makes it more bearable/doable?

lbnblbnb · 06/04/2015 15:13

Good god. I didn't realise there were so many ways of making moves harder. My disc seems to have some faults, the break while I cleaned the disc was very welcome.

Not2bObvious · 06/04/2015 19:52

lbnb I'm only doing T25 a week but in the past what I did was leave my work out gear right beside the bed, I naturally seem to wake around 6 to go to the loo and then I just bully myself into staying up! I used to chant to myself if I did what I always do (aka nothing) then I'd get what I'd always get (again aka nothing) As they say, definition of stupid is doing the same thing again and again yet expecting different results. That little nugget was for me who ate between 2500-3000 cals for the last 2 days. After no crisps, practically no choc/alcohol during lent I really went all out yesterday and todayEaster Sad I need to stop now and I will end of story! Confession time over, sorry folks for the self indulgent rant x

lbnblbnb · 06/04/2015 20:14

Thanks Not2bObvious - I like the chant! I have an easier start tomorrow so will work out tomorrow morning. I will...

Not2bObvious · 06/04/2015 21:15

Nice one lbnb, I've laid my clothes out all ready too! Be a great start to the week

Newbiecrafter · 07/04/2015 01:03

Not2b, sounds like you had a lovely lovely day. Don't beat yourself up about it. You're amazing doing a c25k after working out. I'm not sure about the doing doubles every other day. Hopefully someone more experienced can help. I must admit that when I missed Friday's session I found it harder the next day as I felt more stiff. I think for me, doing this every day makes it ever so slightly easier. You sound so much more fit than me though so prob wouldn't have that Same problem.

I didn't realise today was a day off, I did cardio today. I just haven eas the chart wrong. I am very sore but it's TBC tomorrow, I will do it. I will I will I will.

purple, I'm interested in protein powder as I'm not very good at having protein for my breakfast, so it would be a way of ensuring that I have some everyday.
