Anyone else starting a Beachbody workout programme? (T25, insanity etc)

Ok so my Focus T25 box has arrived today! Costs a lot but it has 11 25 minute work outs and some stretchy exercise band things. Idea is that because I have spent a lot I will have to knuckle down and see it through for the next 2 months.

I will probably try it over the weekend and start properly on mon. I am 3 stone overweight so this is going to be a mega challenge! Has anyone else recently started something similar or a new workout dvd and want to help motivate each other?

Oh no sleepy. I think diazepam makes you v spaced out? do you have an idea of how long it will take to recover?
Lots of activity on here so will definitely confuse who said what.....
I log work outs on mfp as 300cals. I looked up on the Internet what people had got from their heart rate monitors and that seemed about right to me
Bloody good effort on the plyo workout jacksster. I love the idea of a work out that is so hard even the warm up is a struggle to get through!
Boobz - I can't believe your doubles - how much time is that? Must be an hr or more of hard exercise which is bloody impressive.
My boobs have definitely shrunk. Have gone from an f cup (!!!) to Prob a c but I've not been measured as I'm still wearing those revolting nursing bras. I don't really want to buy new bras until I stop bf as they're expensive and I now have loads of barely worn ones and don't want to make that mistake again!
Did sweat intervals today. Was dreading it as it was really hard last week. A bit better this week I think because I had a rest day yesterday, but I still had to lie on the floor for 5mins afterwards. Knee better. I think it's just an overuse injury so I need to be careful.
And not2be - well done for tbc. It is hard!! I went back to do it again after I finished beta and it was still hard. Those bloody press ups are awful.
Right - essay finished. Staying in a cottage with extended family over Easter. Aiming to do max30 but I know everyone will take the piss. Might challenge them to give it a go and see if they're laughing afterwards!!

Newbiecrafter · 02/04/2015 19:56

sleepy, sorry to hear about your back. Did the doctor say what the recovery time is likely to be? Hope it's not too sore all the time as that can be quite exhausting, [thank]

day 4 for me today of t25. It was the abs one and again Shock
Is it normal to ben o utterly unable to do the v sit things? I even couldn't do the lifts two legs at the same time to knees bent and back again. Tbh the getting up and back onto the floor again was hard work. My 7 and 5 year olds decided to join in. DD was actually impressive and could manage quite a bit of it. DS flailed around like a loon so I spent most of it giggling.

I think according yo the schedulei it's a double day tomorrow. OMFG is all I can think right now. I will do it. I will. I will. I will.

Xxx

Newbiecrafter · 02/04/2015 19:57

Thanks for sleepy.

Jacksterbear · 02/04/2015 20:27

Purple enjoy your time away. I too find it embarrassing having to exercise with "outsiders" around but have got more used to it - been taking exervise dvds on hols now (incl with friends/family) for the last 6 years or so!

Yy to boob shrinkage Sad. I find it hard to get the balance right with my weight, to get my upper body looking not too scrawny but thighs not too chunky (yeah, lucky to have such a dilemma, I realise!).

Newbie yeah the v-sits are haard!

Interesting re differing estimates of calorie burn. My MFP says 190 cals for 25 min "circuit training" and I think around 160 for 25 mins "intense aerobics".

Of course, slightly depressingly, I've noticed the more weight you lose, the lower the calorie burn for exercise and the lower the calorie allowance for eating!

Off on hols to Portugal in one week - weather forecast a bit changeable but need to be bikini-ready in case!

Jacksterbear · 02/04/2015 20:30

Oh meant to say - rest day today, DCs' first day of school hold. Took them swimming; not much chance of actual swimming as we were mostly just bobbing around, but did manage quite a bit of treading-water-while-doing-v-sit-and-bicycle-ab-crunch type thingies. Grin oh and a kind of duck-walk (JM fans will know what I mean) in the shallow end towing 2 dc on my back. Grin

Sarahlouboo · 02/04/2015 20:55

Urgh the dreaded duck walk Jackster! Fab for the thighs though!!

On my phone so not a chance of remembering who said what but yep V holds are horrid - I can do them but I am shaking so violently by the end that it is comical and slightly alarming for any onlookers. I hate when DH is casually sitting while I work out. I don't mind if DS is there although he does like to ask impertinent questions "why aren't you doing the difficult one?" etc. etc. Smile

Hope you have a lovely holiday and feel bikini ready - was it Jackster?!

Sorry about the slipped disc Sleepy and hope diazepam doesn't knock you out too much. It is very wearing as someone else said having a bad back, just the constant nature of the pain, really hope you feel better soon.

I did beta rip't circuit. Enjoyed it. Triceps are hurting today. Slowly getting my eating back under control. Mini break with DH this weekend so that won't last! Happy bank hol weekend everyone Grin! Xx

Newbiecrafter · 02/04/2015 21:03

Purple, have a lovely time away. And pleased to hear your knee is better after the rest day. Xxx

Jackster, my v sits were more like me just sitting with my legs out In Front of me. I'm sure I should be able to do more than I did but hoping I can see some improvement over the days to come. Portugal sounds lovely. Fingers crossed the weather starts getting warmer and more settled. Xxx

Fullsteamahead · 02/04/2015 22:24

Newbie, good luck with your first double tomorrow, I'll be thinking of you ;)

Sleepy, I had diazepam once before and was fine with it, hope it works well for you and you are back to good health soon.

Everybody who is going away for Easter, have a fab break!

My bad shoulder is killing me today :( Upper focus yesterday with increased weights and insanity power and resistance today pushed me a bit too far I think... I can see me going back to the osteopath if it carries on like this.

I've got TBC and Insanity Pure Cardio to do tomorrow. Really not sure if I'll manage both. But will have to do my best now that it's written here :)

Not2bObvious · 02/04/2015 22:41

Snap Newbie on the V holds - I did and this evening, thought it wouldn't happen as had been out for food (greedy sod me) but pushed myself. That's a really hard workout to do as it moves fast enough and it's impossible to find an angle to see what they are doing and attempt it? Ahh the JM duck walk...I remember it well! Good times eh? Confused
Lots and lots of reading in thus thread which is soo great, love love love to hear how other people are getting it done. I'm away for 3 days pretty much from noon tomorrow but am all set to do the double, excited and only a little scared. I couldn't be arsed to do the stretch one this first week as chances are I'll start day 1 of week 2 on Sunday (of I can avoid lunchtime drinks that it!) Sorry for lack of name checks, same as someone else said on the phone it's hard to remember who did what but aren't we an active bunch, Shaun would be proud of usWink

Hi everyone. I meant to ask Insanity people last night - can you recommend an Insanity workout that is a good (easy-ish) one to try? I have borrowed a copy off a friend and I want to maybe work the odd one in with beta to see if I can manage them but I don't want to scare myself off. Thank you Smile x

Newbiecrafter · 03/04/2015 09:00

Hello everyone. Happy Good Friday.

Can I ask, do you do the double in one hit or do two separate sessions?

I might have to do it in one go today but not sure if I'll manage it.

I also didn't photo, weigh or measure myself. Should I?

Xxx

Newbiecrafter · 03/04/2015 09:03

Weigh, measure or photo myself before I started this on Monday. Should I do it now or wait until Monday again?

Boobz · 03/04/2015 09:46

Hi Sarahlou - I would do Cardio Power and Resistance from the Month 1 work outs. Although Pure Cardio is the most fun I would say. After 15 mins warm up and stretch it's only about 22 mins of hard core working out, so you should be fine!

Still question marks over my biopsy results so am flying to London on Tuesday for 2 weeks to have more tests etc. Am going to do a Barry's Bootcamp session on Wednesday before any surgery - might be my last chance of some high intensity working out for a while as I have a "sentinel node biopsy" on Thursday which I will have a general anesthetic for. Joy.

DH home from taking the kids and now we are going to do Max Interval Plyo together - I always work out harder when he does it too.

Jacksterbear · 03/04/2015 09:58

Newbie, I'd say weigh, measure etc asap!

Sarah I agree with Boobz re Cardio Power and Resistance. As it has some strength stuff mixed in with the cardio, you get a bit of a break from the insanely fast-paced, heart-gargling stuff. Pure Cardio makes me feel quite sick, tbh, and is the worst of the month 1 Insanities, for me.

Boobz enjoy your Bootcamp class and good luck with all the tests.

Am adding a little motivational pic courtesy of Shaun T's FB page!

Not2bObvious · 03/04/2015 10:08

Morning all. I did it!!! Completed the double of lower focus & cardio and while I wouldn't say I nailed it, I at least tacked it?Grin
Had a bath and now just kicking back after a bowl of porridge, saving my cals for wine and chocolate later!
Have a great weekend all x

Not2bObvious · 03/04/2015 10:11

Newbie do one with full intentions of doing the other. I did lower focus first, was wondering should I have done cardio first but I think it was the right order. There's a real high in completing it, I'm still buzzing! Best of luck and it's still less than an hour

Sarahlouboo · 03/04/2015 12:24

Thanks for the recommendations, will give it a whirl next week.

Good luck with your further biopsies Boobz.

Well done Not2be Grin

Newbie - I prefer to get it all out of the way at once (but don't always manage!)

Fullsteamahead · 03/04/2015 14:52

Crawling in the room on my knees!!!!! WTF Boobz, Pure cardio is your favourite!!! I literally can't walk after it!!!

Just finished a double of T25 TBC and Insanity Pure Cardio. Did TBC half heartedly as my shoulder is sore but really pushed myself with Insanity.

Oh boy, am I looking forward to my two days off!!! Bring on the chocolate and hot cross buns :)

Boobz, good luck with the biopsies next week and enjoy the boot camp!

Not2be, hi fives!!! Well done!

yumyumpoppycat · 03/04/2015 18:13

Boobz, really hope there is clear and positive news re treatment after your biopsy x

sleapy def keep posting, pretty pathetic but I had weeks of cold flu and couldnt exercise but the odd post helped me to not forget about exercising. Hope it heals up quickly ... blardy dishwahser.

Newbie def get the befores... so many times I have seem people on mfp wishing they had taken befores earlier. I was 10bs heavier last year than when I started T25 so wish I had those befores! Ps well done for getting started on T25...I remember your first post and all the probs you have had with exercise before it will be fab when you get to 10 weeks.

Fullsteam please don't mention hotcross buns ... I literally can't resist them and its week 10 for me of t25 this week da da dah! No excuses for escaping the after photos next weekend! Well done on gving it your all for insanity, so easy to go through the motions.

Jackster I did 2nd piyo workout lower something or other... I am a bit worried I am going to dislocate something Shock ... I might have to redo the 1st workout/demo as hard to keep up when so much is done looking towards the floor. Also did T25 ript circuit after.

Hello to Purple, Sarahlou, Not2be and spooky [waves] Have a great weekend e1

Thank you all for doing your work outs as it encouraged me to do mine. Tabata power. Still can't get thru push ups and max out at exactly the same point. All the other moves seem easier so it's v frustrating.
A lot of doubles done on here. I'm impressed. I've said before I don't have the willpower to press play twice!
Deffo do before and after photos and measurements as you don't realise how far you've come. I tried on a dress I loved and got too big for. It now hangs off me. I can't believe it. This exercising is expensive. I need a new wardrobe.
And yes alpha abs was impossible for me the first time. I didn't even sweat as I couldn't do any of the moves. It got better really quickly and I ticked nailed it by the end of alpha so keep going.
Well done everyone on the work outs and enjoy some well earned chocolate/wine tonight!!

Boobz · 03/04/2015 18:55

Mmmm wine.

Fullsteamahead · 03/04/2015 19:46

Guess what, wine here too!!! Mmmmm :)

Jacksterbear · 03/04/2015 20:22

Fullsteam omg, I can't think of a worse double combo than tbc + pure cardio. Shock Bloody well done on that one.

poppy yes I get worried I might snap/twist/pull something doing PiYo too! Confused

Upper body done today. Found it quite hard today whereas usually it's an easy option.

Snap re the wine. Wine Enjoy all.
