Anyone else starting a Beachbody workout programme? (T25, insanity etc)

yumyumpoppycat · 09/01/2015 16:16

Ok so my Focus T25 box has arrived today! Costs a lot but it has 11 25 minute work outs and some stretchy exercise band things. Idea is that because I have spent a lot I will have to knuckle down and see it through for the next 2 months.

I will probably try it over the weekend and start properly on mon. I am 3 stone overweight so this is going to be a mega challenge! Has anyone else recently started something similar or a new workout dvd and want to help motivate each other?

Good luck with the double Sarah. Good plan re water and going to bed early to stop snacking. I also removed all fun snacks from the house. That is a bit miserable for DH tho
Just did tabata power. I just can't get thru the press ups. My arms just aren't strong enough yet. Next week gets harder and I don't think I'll be able to do it. I'm tempted to do this week again as I'm determined to nail it!

jemstipp · 31/03/2015 15:44

Hey everyone, haven't been able to check in for a couple of days as my tinterweb is playing up. Into week 4 final month of insanity and still nightfeeding Joey the lamb. He is going really well and is bigger everytime I look at him lol. Wanted to ask Insanity veterans about repeating. Did you all go straight back into month one or did you do a week of core cardio and balance like inbetween month one and two? Oh and the stretchy legging things that Shaun T wears in the Max recovery lol

Newbiecrafter · 31/03/2015 15:59

Day 2 of t25 alpha done. Speed 1.0. Quite liked it - I enjoy toe stretchy bits in between.
Pappy to repor Scott had on blue shirts today and def less boingy. Maybe he had an extra long mic cable stuffed down there on the day 1 workout. Phew! Relieved tbh as wasn't so distracted today.

Shaun T is very good looking, but he does this intense death stare which is a bit unsettling. I almost turned round to look behind me a couple of times wondering what he could see. Confused
Xxx

Jacksterbear · 31/03/2015 18:44

sleepy, oh no, sorry to hear about your back. Sad My DH slipped a disc in the Feb half term week and has only just managed to start gentle exercise again. His physio told him absolutely no bending or twisting, so he has ruled out T25 for now and is just going on the exercise bike. Hopefully you might get better news though - fingers crossed.

TBC done today - haven't done it for ages, but, yep, it's still as evil as ever! Newbie - I can report a disappointing lack of "boinginess" on display in TBC. Grin

Jacksterbear · 31/03/2015 18:47

Oh and fullsteam - max respect for the double/triple! Shock (I love KB&T L3 - not easy though!).

Boobz · 31/03/2015 18:48

Hi Fullsteam - thanks for asking after me! I have dumped all of you for my new Cancer-Thread friends ;) (They are lovely but it's not quite as jolly as this thread).

I am still working out daily, don't you worry. The irony of finding out you are sick when you feel the fittest you ever have in your whole life is mad! DH and I did Max Sports Training (month 2 of Insanity) today and both sweated buckets - it's getting warmer here in Rome now and no air-con in the room we workout in.

I should have full diagnosis with next steps on Thursday - still working off "it's cancer, but not sure what/how bad" etc. So I keep on digging deeper and trying to stay positive (think I am in the denial stage tbh). I will be gutted if chemo/radio therapy (if I need it) stops me from doing Insanity - I am a grumpy arse when I miss a work out...

Nearly there jemstipp - keep going!

spookyskeleton · 31/03/2015 19:21

boobz great PMA and I am sure you will fight whatever is thrown at you as you clearly have a strong mind and are not easily defeated Flowers

I have been reading this thread but not had the chance to comment. I have fallen if the wagon drastically (not done any T25 for over a week now Blush). Did manage a 6 mile run at the weekend but my running buddy broke her leg that afternoon so I have no-one to train/run with and the half marathon had gone out of the window Sad

I am so mad at myself as I could see my body changing and feel I have undone all the hard work - just need my arse kicking to get back into beta again!

Well done to you all for your workouts and I can't say I have noticed any jiggly shirts Grin however, I do think Shaun T is hot and looks a lot like Will Smith but DH thinks he looks nothing like him! Am I wrong?

Not2bObvious · 31/03/2015 21:25

When I finally managed to read all the thread on Sunday Boobz, I saw you'd had your initial diagnosis, sending you massive positive vibes and Flowers Totally awed at your positivity, really good to see and very inspiring for me personally.
Well in other news my plan to work out after work failed as had to collect the kids (feck sake...oh yeah I suppose it's fair enough, they are mineConfused) and after feeding us all, then invited family for dinner tomorrow night so had to go out and buy ingredients for 3 different dinners, yes 3 - and then prep 2 of the 3 meals as I have roughly 25 minutes between getting home tomorrow and guests arriving. So sorry for you Shaun, it may be only 25 minutes but at this stage I'm on the flat of my back. But plan is to get up at 6.15am and get it DONE.
I'm exhausted even typing all that. Enjoy the rest of your evening folks, well done to all if you that got it done today Wink

Morning all, did total body circuit very badly so kept my promise. I was tempted to just stay in bed but staying in bed won't get me the shape I wantGrin Tomorrow is 2 months exactly since I started to reel back in my eating, so I'll do a weigh in to see where I am. As of this morning I am 12.8 pounds down and I can see a difference in my face for sure but still a ways to go (around 2 stone) Your poor back Sleepy, I had bulging discs before and that was grim, you must be in some pain. Hope the doctor helps you.

Purpleraindeer · 01/04/2015 09:04

Good work not2be. It's hard doing the am work outs but I find it's better to get it done before life gets in the way later on
Well done on alpha sleepy! Really sorry about your back. It's rubbish having to stop when it's not your choice
Spooky - 6 days off is not long. You can def get back into it. Just promise yourself you'll get into your work out clothes and do the first 5mins of your fav dvd and I bet once you start you'll do the whole thing
Boobz glad you're still checking in. Don't leave us for your new mates. I want a max30 buddy!
Rest for me today. Am glad. My knee was v painful yesterday so I think I need it.

Boobz · 01/04/2015 09:16

Thanks all - don't worry, I plan to stick around here indefinitely!

Am about to do the double: Max Interval Circuits and Insane Abs. Have decided to take the week off work (can't concentrate anyway) so may as well take advantage of the extra time and do some back to back Shaun T!

Sarahlouboo · 01/04/2015 10:35

Spooky - I am sure that I have read somewhere on tinternet that a week off from your fitness regime every now and then can do you some good so reframe it as a positive choice and pretend you meant to do it Grin. I bet your legs will feel lovely and fresh when you start up again. It's a shame about your friend (and your half-marathon). Can you ask the organisers to defer your place until next year?

Boobz enjoy the double. You defo can't abandon us, you are one of our leaders!

Newbie, definite protuberance going on in Beta Upper Focus! Fairly distracting.

Not2be Fab progress, very well done on the weight loss (and early morning workout) Star!

Sorry your knees are hurting Purple, enjoy your rest day. My choc fest has finally caught up with me according to the scales this morning Sad. Must try and remember that the calorie limit on MFP is not a target to try and beat!

Sorry about your back Spooky, totally pants when you have to take an unscheduled stop.

Did a double yesterday (Speed 2.0 and Upper Focus - good combo as Upper Focus not v.cardio) and then did Dynamic Core this morning. That would be another good one for a double I think. I like getting the double out of the way earlier in the week. Always easier when you are off with the kids though.

Jacksterbear · 01/04/2015 14:05

Well done not2be. TBC is the worst of TBC by a mile, and you've survived it! Yeah! Smile

purple, enjoy the well-earned rest.

Boobz how was the double?

Just done Insanity Cardio Power and Resistance (my favourite, and the least nasty, of the month 1 workouts). Pretty pleased with myself for not stopping, other than for a couple of brief seconds to check what move was coming up next - oh and a rather annoying secretly very welcome interruption from a delivery man! Grin

Sarah, and everyone else, good work.

Does anyone log Insanity on MFP and if so what do you log it as? I guess circuit training - but for how long? I worked out that if you remove the stretching intervals it's only about 25 mins for a month 1 workout, which disappointingly is the same as T25! I guess that's one of the main reasons he made T25 - more time-efficient!

spooky GET BACK ON IT! (Motivational shouting at you, there Grin). Oh and yes Shaun reminds me a bit of Will Smith - when he does his rapping, a la Fresh Prince!

Sarahlouboo · 01/04/2015 14:51

Jacksterbear - that's interesting re insanity month 1...how long is it with stretching?

Jacksterbear · 01/04/2015 16:03

40 mins, Sarah. Shock

Not2bObvious · 01/04/2015 16:18

Thanks Jackster, I feel vindicated now someone more au fait with cbt knows it's a tough one. I'm terrified of the pikes, that'll take some time to master I would say. With regard to mfp, I have a fitbit linked to mfp and it does register any great numbers. According to my fitbit I'm burning c. 140 cals a session. Even when I walk over 10,000 I'm lucky to get an extra 200 cals showing on mfp and I only get that if I hoof it! Normal days which do consist of around 8,000 don't make a dent.
For me anyway I'm aiming not to eat my exercise calsSad Working on staying within 1600, depressing.com

Not2bObvious · 01/04/2015 16:20

Should read doesnt register any great numbers!

Newbiecrafter · 01/04/2015 19:31

Boobz - back to back shaun sounds like it should be a big distraction. good luck for tomorrow with the plan of action. you're amazing!

sleepy, my knees are sore today, but they are some days anyway, without doing anything, so have done day 3, total body circuit. I'm and bit in Shock. I did try that one from a Vimeo video before I boight T25 but sort of forgot how little of it I could do. I followed Tanya, and needed to stop a few times. Push ups , and those spidey doo dahs - not sure I'll ever get those. But I can hope.

Sarah sorry to have lowered the tone of the thread and to have highlighted the boingy distraction.

Nottobe OMG you did the workout with a sore back. That's amazing. Hope your back is on the mend.

Purple hope your knees are feeling better soon.

You are ALL are so inspirational! THANK YOU! Xxx

Newbiecrafter · 01/04/2015 19:32

Sorry Not2be, not Nottobe.

Fullsteamahead · 01/04/2015 22:20

Hi guys,

Sorry never turned up yesterday, had a busy day. I've missed one day on this thread and am struggling to keep up! Everybody's progress is fantastic!

Boobz, great to hear from you, glad you are still working out, please drop by tomorrow to let us all know how your appt went. Hugs xx

Purple, that's rubbish about your knees. BTW, remember I bought Vivobarefoot trainers. Well, they are great. I wouldn't really call them conventional trainers, they are extremely lightweight and it does feel like you are exercising barefoot. For the first week my knees did hurt and I even thought of giving up on them, but then a miracle happened, my knees stopped hurting! I do really like them, think they were a good buy.

Spooky, that really sucks about your back :( Really hope you are back in business soon!

Jackster, I would still log the full length of Insanity on Fitbit. The thing is, don't know about you but when I do the stretching the sweat just pours off me which is a great indicator how much your body is still working during the stretch. I see it as there is stretching and then there is Shaun T stretching, there's a big difference :)

Not2be, congrats on your first TBC! We all love it, don't we! And fab news re weight loss, great job!!!

Newbie, I laughed out loud re your comment about Shaun T giving you an evil stare!!! Maybe you should stare back at him and shout Focus!

Well, I'm still loving my hybrid. After my triple on Monday I did Insanity Plyo Cardio yesterday, I'm pleased to say I managed the full warm up without stopping! Had to take a few tiny breaks in the 2nd part after the stretch though, bloody hell, that's a hard workout! Today I did a double of T25 lower focus and upper focus and both together didn't feel nearly as hard as yesterday!

Is anyone else starting to feel that their boobs are disappearing? I still carry quite a lot of weight on my bum and thighs but my upper body has shrunk so much that all my bras are now way too big for me! Why or why life is so unfair? Lol

Fullsteamahead · 01/04/2015 22:25

Sorry Spooky, of course the comment above was for Sleepy

Sarahlouboo · 01/04/2015 22:32

Fullsteam - yep definite boob shrinkage here! Which is not good! Didn't have much to start with. But hey ho Smile.

Boobz · 02/04/2015 07:21

Well done Fullsteam - plyo is hard.

Am writing it here so I do it: Cardio abs and Pure Cardio (2 of the shorter ones but need to crack on with my work so haven't got all day).

DIG DEEPER Y'ALL!

yumyumpoppycat · 02/04/2015 08:31

wooo high fives all round! I'm diggin Boobz Grin

spooky just do a speed 2.0 - worked for me this morning! Will try and post properly this eve, have to get ready for work - might do piyo today or might watch recorded Grimm and Grey's anatomy
