Anyone else starting a Beachbody workout programme? (T25, insanity etc)

yumyumpoppycat · 09/01/2015 16:16

Ok so my Focus T25 box has arrived today! Costs a lot but it has 11 25 minute work outs and some stretchy exercise band things. Idea is that because I have spent a lot I will have to knuckle down and see it through for the next 2 months.

I will probably try it over the weekend and start properly on mon. I am 3 stone overweight so this is going to be a mega challenge! Has anyone else recently started something similar or a new workout dvd and want to help motivate each other?

Fullsteam it sounds like insanity pure cardio had the same effect on you as sweat intervals had on me. I was broken!!
Welcome thediet. I think getting thru t25 is about creating the habit. Doesn't that take 3 wks so just try to hang on till then and it will become normal. I now feel a bit cross if I miss a workout. I have lost 21lbs so far with diet and exercise so it's def possible.
Had a kit day today so didn't do 'Friday fight'. It will have to be Saturday fight instead. God knows how I'll keep up the exercise when I go back to work. How do you girls manage it? What time of day do you exercise?
Good to hear from you boobz. I'm looking forward to you showing me how insanity max 30 should be done!!

yumyumpoppycat · 27/03/2015 19:32

Welcome TheDietstartstomorrow!

Purple well done on 21lbs! I have lost about that too but over 6 months. I am only working part time and do some from home. I prob double up twice a week if necc, I usually get up at 6.30 during the week and aim to exercise while the kids eat breakfast, if things go wrong I exercise while they and dp have dinner.

Just done an evening double, Ript circuit first - speed and agility is my favourite move ... feels like a cross between the Charleston and the Robot ! I then did 'Hip Hp Abs y'all' ... its quite funny, slightly embarrassing and not exactly going to break me though Grin def worth it though to see Shaun T's enthusiasm for the pussy cat dolls and for poster and song -

Hope all ok everyone, glad to hear you are feeling more assured now medical treatment is in uk Boobz.

Boobz, you are amazing! Well done on staying strong and it's great you've ordered Max30! Will they be treating you in Uk or Italy once there is a plan set up?

Fullsteamahead · 27/03/2015 20:24

Purple, wow at 21 lbs weight loss!!! Way to go!!!

Purpleraindeer · 28/03/2015 17:39

Poppy - your doubles always impress me. No way am I motivated enough to do another work out when I get to the end of the first one. In hip hop abs do you dance like a pussycat doll? Sounds fun

Did friday fight today. Was hard work. I think in general I am now pretty fit cardio wise so all of the jumping is fine for me but the second we do burpees or any strength things I'm ruined. Anyway, it ended up with me shouting at the TV with ds looking a bit confused

yumyumpoppycat · 28/03/2015 19:23

Purple, not exactly dancing like a pussycat doll thank god! In parts it felt a bit funky chicken meets rosemary Connolly! With the doubles I think it prob would be better to go all out for one workout, I think I need to focus a bit and go all out more, I am usually just making up for the odd missed workout by doubling up. How is max 30 going, would you reccomend it...I am v tempted to join you and boobz in 2 weeks! I am similar, I love cardio but I can't get my chest to the ground even in a kneeling pushup. I am rubbish at burpees but kinda like them Grin

I was short of time so tried the 20 min low impact turbo fire workout jacksterbear ... blimey I wouldn't want to see high impact! There was some serious fake tan going on in that workout!

Hi everyone, you are all so energetic! Welcome thedietsstartomorrow.

Did beta core speed for the first time today. Love those speed ones, they never fail to get me going! I keep meaning to ask - do you all just listen to the commentary? I tend to mute Shaun now (sorry Smile) and put music on.

Not2bObvious · 29/03/2015 17:38

Would it be ok to join in guys? Just bought t25 today and was searching mn to see if anyone was doing it and found y'all! I'm battling through a few challenges at the minute and want to take control of my weight/fitness while I can. I find exercise works pretty well as an antidepressant for me, had a recent bereavement and also a hereditary cancer scare which I won't know anymore about til heaven knows when, so until someone tells me I can't I'm determined to get all t25'ed. Took my photo, know my weight , just need to find my tape measure. I've lost close around 12 pounds in just under 2 months, half of that's been in the last 2 weeks - nothing like grief to take the usual piggy appetite away. I've completed day 1, following Tanya as I think I'd have collapsed otherwise, watched speed 1.0 so I know what I'm in for - a tad nervous for the morning. Anyway sorry for the essay, I've enjoyed reading the thread so far, got through half of it, only 12 pages to read! Really encouraging, you guys are hardcore!

Purpleraindeer · 29/03/2015 18:05

Hi not2be. I'm sorry to hear about your bereavement. I find the same thing about exercise helping low mood. If you've got thru the first cardio I think you'll find speed 1.0 ok. Total body circuit in alpha is hard tho.
Sarah - I listen to Shaun t. I find it easier to listen to his cues rather than watch and also I like the motivation.
Did pulse (the recovery work out) today as it felt weird doing nothing. I'm really enjoying max30 but as the idea is to work to the point that you can't physically carry on it is mentally hard to start the DVd knowing you're going to get absolutely exhausted by the end. I think t25 was a bit 'funner'. I do like the challenge tho. Week 2 starts tomorrow so will be interesting to see if I can improve my max out times.

Not2bObvious · 29/03/2015 18:32

Thanks for the kind wishes Purple. I'm looking forward to giving it a go, albeit at Tanya pace! All these months I watched the infomercials, and was reluctant to send away for this, turns out it was being sold in Argos, bit of an investment but will be well worth it if I stick at it. The 25 minutes today went fairly fast, all excited to think where I will be in a few weeks, need something to focus on, forgive the pun!

yumyumpoppycat · 29/03/2015 18:45

Sorry you have been having a difficult time Not2be, hope the exercise helps you, it def helps lift my mood. Oooh Argos, great tip £99.99 from argos is the cheapest way I have seen to get T25 if ordered to store...just checked and its the same price for Insanity, no max 30 though.

Sarahlou Shock

... actually I don't think I know the routines well enough tbh to turn ST down.

Planning to do piyo or whatever its called this eve.

yumyumpoppycat · 29/03/2015 18:47

Oh and purple thats interesting to know about max 30, I like the fun parts of t25 like speed 2.0. I will def hang on for a week or so and see what you think.

OP posts:
Sarahlouboo · 29/03/2015 18:55

I always listen to Shaun T the first couple of times but then I wing it! I just find that a good playlist makes it whizz by much quicker and takes me to my happy place Grin! I find T25 a lot easier to follow without commentary than Jillian Michaels where you seem to do more floor work.

Welcome not2be! I have found this thread really motivational and feel the same way as you about exercise and mood. Sorry you have been having a crappy time. Hope T25 helps in some small way.

Not2bObvious · 30/03/2015 07:40

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. I got through speed following Tanya as predicted, I do not think I'll ever manage a burpee! But it's something to aim for, I'll plan to try them next time I do speed and if I manage one in every 5 that time, I'll aim to do one in every four next time, so on and so forth. Anyone else do something this morning? Off to work I go, feeling very virtuous!

Purpleraindeer · 30/03/2015 11:14

How was pi yo poppy?
Well done not2be
I did cardio from max30 this am and got the whole way thru without maxing out! I think Shaun t would say I wasn't trying hard enough!! Prob need to push a bit harder next time and actually aim to max out, but I'm pleased I made it! Pike ups with a shoulder tap are evil.

Jacksterbear · 30/03/2015 17:30

purple, I imagine it takes quite a change of mindset to go all out so you "max out", rather than pacing yourself to last the full workout. I found this changing from T25 (when he discourages taking breaks so I end up going at about 80% for the 25 mins) to Insanity (when he encourages you to go all out but then take a break when needed).

poppy how are you finding PiYo? I am still doing bits of it, in between the cardio. Don't think I could do nothing but PiYo without feeling v twitchy for my cardio fix! Grin I like combining it with the TurboFire bonus workout though!

Not2be welcome and well done for getting started. You will amaze yourself with how much you are capable of if you stick at it. Smile I am another big believer in exercise as an anti-depressant and anxiety-reliever.

Sarah I have tried the "music loud/Shaun's voice quiet" option in T25 but found it really hard to follow! I like hearing the same comments and cues over and over! Grin

Back in the Shaun T game this week starting with T25 alpha cardio today.

Newbiecrafter · 30/03/2015 18:25

Hi everyone

My second hand set if t25 arrived and I did day 1 this afternoon.
I was watching the clock as soon as it started, but see ing the time ticking down was good.

I followed Tanya completely. She's faster than I am ever likely to be, but I did it and got hot and a but sweaty. I will do day 2 tomorrow - I will I will I will!

Does anyone else fine the contents of Scott's shorts a bit disconcerting? Shouldn't he be wearing some sort of support. Blush I found myself watching all the be men's genital area a bit too intently - a bit off putting! Hmm

Newbiecrafter · 30/03/2015 18:26

I should have said watching intently to see the level of boinginess. And I can confirm the others seem better supported.

Jacksterbear · 30/03/2015 19:29

, Newbie. Can't say I had noticed before - but now you've said it, I'm bound to not be able to stop myself from checking! Grin

Not2bObvious · 30/03/2015 22:03

Aww darn it Newbie, now I'll have to watch the "boys" and the clockWink
It's official, I am broken! Did a few miles walking today on top of Speed 1.0 and am now lying in bed with a hot water bottle wedged under my lower back. And my butt is aching (damn you squats) But every cloud and all that, crawled up to bed after dinner and since I can't get back down the stairs, that puts an end to any more munching. I'm going to do total body circuit tomorrow evening rather than morning, unless I wake mad early. I hope my poor back/butt can take it. I know it's early days but as I have a holiday in 4.5 weeks, I feel really excited that I can make some changes to my shape in that time following the program. And by changes I mean less of me! Feeling positive.

Fullsteamahead · 30/03/2015 23:17

Welcome Not2, great to have you in our company! Soon there'll be a small army of us. Maybe we should organise a get together sometime in the future and possibly even do a mass insanity workout! Lol. Wouldn't that be fun!

Well done to Not2 and Newbie for starting with Alpha, keep it up girls, you'll be amazed at your progress after Alpha. Can't wait to see pics :)

Boobz, how are things? Not heard from you in a while, any news on the treatment plan yet?

Purple, you are officially the hardcore girl for not Maxing out!!! Respect!

I started week two of my hybrid today. Did Alpha Speed 1.0 and Insanity cardio recovery. Then I went out with kids and ruined my day by stuffing my face with cherry scone and an ice cream!!! Came home, checked the damage through MFP and decided I needed to work out again. So, I did Jillian Michaels Killer Buns and Thighs Level 3 which I absolutely loved. What a great workout! One problem, I still cannot stand Jillian, I really don't know why but I find her sooooo annoying! Talking about muting the voice and putting music on instead, I may well try that with her workouts ;)

Anyway, better go to bed and recover now. Well done everyone, speak tomorrow :)

Purpleraindeer · 31/03/2015 08:32

Fullsteam you're méntal - in the nicest possible way!! 2 work outs in a day. Honestly.... Are you enjoying the variety of your new schedule?
I'm with you re jillian. I used to find her supportive, now I just find her American platitudes irritating. I am a little bit in love with Shaun t tho. In max 30 he keeps getting his shirt off. Sadly I'm too knackered to notice, let alone see any ball jiggling!
I was mentally weak yesterday. The max30 schedule said do a 10min ab work out after cardio. I managed 2mins and shut it off. Respect to all you girls who do doubles, I just couldn't face it.
Tabata power today with the evil plyo push ups.

Sarahlouboo · 31/03/2015 09:05

Purple - I rarely manage the doubles, I am mentally feeble when it comes to exercising over 25 minutes!

Fullsteam - was that a triple that you did then Shock?! Not sure what Insanity Cardio recovery consists of. I used to love Jillian but I must admit to preferring Shaun T's pep talks now.

Newbie - never noticed the jiggle factor but now have a pervy project for today's workout - focus! Well done on your progress Smile.

Not2be - don't worry, you will defo notice a difference in time for your holidays and the stiffness soon goes away, sounds like you are off to a great start if you are aching like that Grin.

Well I have managed to maintain this week...God knows how considering how much chocolate I am ramming in my face at the moment! My new tactic is to try and drink more water and go to bed earlier, definitely think that tiredness is playing a role. Did beta core cardio yesterday and neither me or DH wanted to do it so we were very grumbly throughout but glad as always to get it out of the way. Might try a double today...then again!

Morning everyone.

So, it seems it's just me then, re the boingy shorts. Oooooh young maaaaan! Grin

Sleepy, I hope your back is feeling better soon, and I hope I can come back here in 24 days to say I've just done the last day of t25 alpha. I find it difficulti stick to things too, mostly due to the fact that my knees hurt a lot. But I will stick to this. I will I will I will.

I'm just hoping that I'm not my usual self and do actually manage it.

I'm also hoping that the modifier version is enough to make a difference as I can't imagine getting up to a level of strength to be able to do all the moves at the higher intensity.

Thanks for all the support on here.
