Anyone else starting a Beachbody workout programme? (T25, insanity etc)

Ok so my Focus T25 box has arrived today! Costs a lot but it has 11 25 minute work outs and some stretchy exercise band things. Idea is that because I have spent a lot I will have to knuckle down and see it through for the next 2 months.

I will probably try it over the weekend and start properly on mon. I am 3 stone overweight so this is going to be a mega challenge! Has anyone else recently started something similar or a new workout dvd and want to help motivate each other?

Hey Daisy. I got most of the exercises but the push ups. I wasn't bothered about it. Did planks instead. I get plenty of shoulder work mucking out my gee gees ;)

Fullsteamahead · 14/03/2015 22:49

Oh Boobz! I'm keeping everything crossed here for a good result. Take care of yourself on your trip, at least work and travels will take your mind off things...

I've spent last two nights searching for good balanced recipes on Pinterest and have now built up quite a nice "portfolio" :) I did very well over the last two days and managed to stay under my new 1300 cals a day goal! I've calculated my requirements for protein, fat and carbs and it came to daily:

Protein - 162 g
Fat - 29 g
Carbs - 98 g

I've done well with fat but managed to overdo it just a bit with carbs and underdo it a little with proteins.

However, it's a good start and Im happy.

Been to my local M&S today and loved the look of their "Balanced for you" range. I know it's not homemade but SO easy when it's all been calculated for you. Think I'll be buying some meals for lazy days when I don't fancy cooking ;)

Going to do full stretch tomorrow and then onto last week of Beta!

Have a fab weekend everyone and enjoy Mothers Day!!! Remember not too much wine and cake though ;)

Boobz Flowers

Fullsteam well done on getting the healthy eating started!

I did a double today beta core cardio and upper focus ( I increased the weight on my dumbbells) it felt like a really good work out, I was somewhere between barely made it and nailed it!

Purple I find I can cheat a bit but only if I stick with one day of sensible non binge cheating then get back on track the next day, if it slides to 2 days in a row of cheating I will begin to fall into old habits.

Hi guys, look at this interesting insanity/T25 hybrid schedule Ive just found. Quite like the look of it

Fullsteamahead · 15/03/2015 20:41

And also some good shoes recommendations for those who struggle with their knees

Boobz, thinking of you and hoping you have a good and distracting trip with work. Thanks

Fullsteamahead, great article on the shoes to wear. thanks for linking to that. Can I ask, is there any thing wrong with doing t25 in bare feet? I will be doing the modified version for a while I imagine, so won't be doing too many high impact jumps or moves, as I do have problems with my knees.

Hope everyone had a good Sunday. Xxx

Purpleraindeer · 16/03/2015 08:37

Newbie I think you need to be quite careful with bare feet. Most people's feet are not very strong and need the support of trainers even if you're not jumping. Maybe try it once and see what happens?
Did jm ripped in 30 yesterday. Whoever said that IT made them sore was not wrong. All the abs and cardio moves felt easy but the strength ones were v arm focussed and were hard and I'm very sore today. I didnt really enjoy it - I felt like I didn't really work up a sweat - I miss all the jumping around in t25.
My insanity max30 arrived this am. Can't decide whether to do ripped in 30 for a few more days or just bin it and move on to max30. Am tempted to wait for boobz to get her max30 box set and we can do it together. Decisions decisions!

Sarahlouboo · 16/03/2015 09:02

Purple - I think I have defo gained cardio fitness but lost some upper arm strength doing T25 so interesting to hear you say that re Ripped in 30.

Newbie - imo doing the exercises without shoes on made my knees/back sore. I would wear trainers if you can.

Well I am meant to be starting beta today but did my back in at the weekend ShockHmm. I bent over to undo my shoe laces and then I was on my hands and knees with the pain! So frustrating! I am going to see my GP this morning for some decent pain killers and I'll see what they say about exercising. I suppose I could do low impact versions? Anyone with a bad back out there? I have always had a niggly back since having DS but this is in a different league pain wise.

yumyumpoppycat · 16/03/2015 09:32

Interesting purple, I def enjoy T25 more than i used to enjoy JM workouts.

Rubbish workout this morning as kept having to stop and yell up to my 3 pesky dc who were running about screaming like loonies instead of getting dressed like sensible children. I gave up in the end a couple of minutes early and missed out on the high fives...think that bit at the end is quite rewarding on some strange level ... I am clearly a bit loopy this morning!

Week 2, month 2 insanity. Can't get myself coordinated enough to do diamond jumps so I do power jumps instead lol. Am wrecked as I am also handrearing a newborn lamb lol

Purpleraindeer · 16/03/2015 14:17

Poppy - I meant to say you are sounding impressively hard core these days with all your posts about doubles and high fives.
Sarah - I have been getting a sore lower back. Ripped in 30 partixularly has been bad for it. It feels muscular - I think my form isn't right, but also I find that press ups/burpees and plank moves make it v tired and achy.
Am v admiring of you jem - insanity mth 2 sounds bloody hard.

Fullsteamahead · 16/03/2015 16:19

Newbie, I tend to agree with the above comments regarding wearing trainers. I've found a link yesterday where Shaun T says that he never wears trainers whilst exercising at home as he has extremely flat feet. Now, I decided to do the full stretch without any footwear yesterday and also did Beta Rip't circuit barefoot today. I have a slightly troublesome left knee which has been getting much stronger since I started T25 but it's really sore now. So, definitely back to trainers for me tomorrow!

That said I ordered a pair of these shoes the other day (couldn't resist a good bargain!) and they are meant to be the closest thing to exercising barefoot. I will try them out when they arrive and give an update on here.

Fullsteamahead · 16/03/2015 16:21

Sarah, pleased get better soon, there is nothing worse than a sore back :(

Fullsteamahead · 16/03/2015 16:23

Yumyum, the only way I can exercise with my 4 year old in the house is to sit him in front of TV for half an hour!!! I can't even start to imagine what it's like with 3!!!!!!!!!

Fullsteamahead · 16/03/2015 16:28

Happy Monday everyone ;)

Hi all, haven't been on the thread for a few days so just reading back through.

Purple, wow, amazing transformation. Well done. Smile

Boobz hope you're holding up ok. Flowers

Fullsteam, thanks for those links, interesting stuff.

Everyone else, great work!

Have had a w/e of no exercise, spagetti carbonara, curry, pie and mash, and WineWine. So feeling pretty urghhh. Blush But back on it today with beta core cardio.

Jacksterbear · 16/03/2015 18:16

Oh and meant to add - Sarah I would defo hold off until after you've seen doc and worked out what the pain is due to. My DH slipped a disc recently and has been told by physio absolutely no exercise involving bending or twisting. He used to do T25 but that's now most definitely out! I really hope it's nothing that serious and I'm doom-mo geeing unnecessarily, though! Flowers

Jacksterbear · 16/03/2015 18:17

doom-mongering

(Now I'm wondering if that's even a real word as my auto-spell-check doesn't recognise it! Confused)

yumyumpoppycat · 16/03/2015 18:50

Jackster sounds like a delicious weekend Grin

jems I am very intrigued by diamond jumps - well done on doing insanity

Fullsteam and purple - Thanks I am so not harcore but felt semi hardcore this evening as I exercised again plugged dc into minecraft and cbeebies website so utter silence totally nailed speed 2.0 , briefly stopped to get cupcakes I had made with dds out of the oven and put a chicken in!!

Spooky you are so right about speed 2.0 - i love the funky music at the beginning, anytime I am feeling crap I am going to stick on that workout Grin I had a pad on so not sure how my pf coped but all seemed in order Blush

love it Grin

Newbiecrafter · 16/03/2015 21:51

Thanks all for the feedback on working out in bare feet. My knees have been more sore since my two trial workouts but I did do them barefoot, so will try with trainers next.

Sarahlou, hope you're feeling better soon. Xxx

Purpleraindeer · 17/03/2015 11:20

Did ripped level 4 yesterday and today. Omg I am sore in my shoulders and arms. I could barely lift the car seat afterwards.

Boobz · 17/03/2015 16:16

Thanks everyone for your kind words. Am keeping busy and trying not to dwell on it until I get the biopsy results.

Managed to do a work out on Sunday after landing in the US, but skipped yesterday to drink wine with the clients. Defo doing a double work out today though!

Sarahlouboo · 17/03/2015 18:08

Good luck with the double Boobz.

Am taking a couple of days out due to back. Haven't slipped a disc or anything but been feeling woozy on the painkillers and think probably won't harm to lay off beta until I feel more steady on my feet!

Newbie - let us know how you get on with shoes!

Purple - ouch! A long hot bath sounds in order!
