Well...nearly!

Thread for all running chat, no matter how fast or how far you run Smile

Anglaise. I'm not sure about low carb while training for a full marathon. Different kettle of fish to a half I'm sure.

I found when i lowered carbs i had to up fat intake hugely. I aim for 70% fat daily and weight fell off. I'm find eggs, steak, fish, full fat yoghurt, almonds, butter, cream, are all good running fodder.

I run with mine and other dogs, but not very often attached to them although I do have a harness and a bungee thing that attaches to a waist belt if I want to go near roads - would like to try a cani cross event but while he's 100% with any other sort of animal he's not entirely people friendly.

Would say he's my best running partner but even he wouldn't come for a run this morning in the rain so we've had a true rest day of snuggling up with cats and watching TV in the warm :)

Am going to pester my PT for some weight training when we meet on Sunday. So far we've done her stretching me, dynamic stretches, foam rollering with The Beast (spiky one) and about ten minutes of running with varying stride lengths. It's ok but it's not revolutionising my run yet.

actiongirl1978 · 08/01/2015 18:30

Get some deadlifts in there Mitchy, that will make a huge difference (and hurt like heck 2 days after you do the first lot!)

Anglaise1 · 08/01/2015 18:32

TheSkinnyProject Almonds are my downfall. I wish I could eat them in moderation, but I can't. And although they are a superfood with lots of benefits, a kilo a week isn't good for you (some bad side effects, like diarrhea). So I'm trying to cut down Hmm

Swallowedbyasnake · 08/01/2015 18:42

Another 3.4 from me so 623.8

actiongirl1978 · 08/01/2015 18:48

Anglaise - I have the same problem with cashew nuts and I think that is one of the major factors in my runners runs.. I can easily eat 4 0r 5 large handfuls a day, I eat them where other people might eat carbs. So if I am hungry after dinner, I eat cashews with a glass of milk, very filling but HUGELY calorific! No wonder I never lose weight running...

Mayvis · 08/01/2015 19:16

4.1 from me today so that's 627.9

Mayvis · 08/01/2015 19:19

I went out still feeling a bit disheartened after my last outing. Thought I'd have a short run and tackle some hills. Did the hills then thought I might as well have a little jog about. Found another hill then went down some roads I haven't been along before.

So ended up doing my longest ever run. I wasn't fast but it was enjoyable and I feel happy again.

actiongirl1978 · 08/01/2015 19:25

Well done Mayvis! That's pretty much how I lengthened my runs. I got more confident trying out unknown routes and before you know it there are new pretty routes to take!

Anglaise1 · 08/01/2015 19:31

Actiongirl yes, cashews, almonds - great food but highly calorific in large quanities. Although better than crisps nutrition wise Wink
Mayvis good for you! Finding new routes is a great way to increase your run length. I love discovering new footpaths or lanes and it is surprising what extra mileage you find in yourself when you need to do it!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 08/01/2015 19:50

My 2.2 lunchtime miles make 630.1

Tiredemma · 08/01/2015 20:20

3.43 tuesday
2.28 tonight

635.81

Neeko · 08/01/2015 20:42

I really wanted to run today but it's too wild here weather-wise so, in the absence of a treadmill, I did a fitness DVD instead. Unfortunately that doesn't add to the mileage. Hmm

Apophenia · 08/01/2015 20:51

Haven't been able to run since Monday...... Can't run until at least Saturday...... I feel so sad. Hmm Grin

ThursdayLast · 08/01/2015 21:16

3.5 from the ThursdayDog and I.
I also did an hour of pilates as my class is back in session. I love it, feels like fabulous maintenance

639.3

EdithDickie · 08/01/2015 21:21

3.5 for me tonight. Quite proud of myself in a way because I reeeeally couldn't be bothered to go but dragged myself off the sofa anyway and feel better for it.

EdithDickie · 08/01/2015 21:22

642.8

Is that right? My brain hurts!

TheIncidentalGoat · 08/01/2015 21:59

3 from me so 645.8

newdaytomorrow · 08/01/2015 22:08

9.15 miles from me today so that takes us up to 651.95
didn't really want to go out but so glad I bothered once I was back home.

HalleLouja · 08/01/2015 22:24

Five to add here makes 656.95. Lovely club run.

clary · 08/01/2015 23:01

Sorry didn't post yesterday but did a slightly better 3.5 miles so that makes 660.45

clary · 08/01/2015 23:03

Actually some doubtful maths a few posts down, I make it 663.45

clary · 08/01/2015 23:04

Sorry more likely x-posts than dodgy maths, sorry ladies Smile

postmanpatsnewyearresolution · 08/01/2015 23:08

Had one of those runs that felt much harder than it should do - think it was too late this evening and too long since lunch so a measly 3.1 to add from me to make 666.55

AggressiveBunting · 09/01/2015 01:21

Adding another 4 to make 670.55.

Dont run with a dog cos I dont have one Sad. It's one of the downsides of apartment living, and realistically, DH and I dont have time to walk it everyday and my nanny doesn't really like them and has pretty much said she's not going to walk it if we got one. I do get dog envy when I'm out on the trails and I see some happy dog lolloping along with its owner though.
