Would you all like to join me here?

If your knees hurt, you need new trainers. I went to Runners Need for a gait analysis but I know others had their gait analysed in other places.

Just bought some new ones! Was running in cheap ones with no problems. Splashed out on some Nike running shoes that seem really comfy and supportive and suddenly sore knee! Can't afford to get more.

I think it may be running on hard ground , starting from zero fitness. I will see how I get on on Thursday and take Nurofen til then!

stilllearnin · 13/01/2015 10:39

Hi Lagoon. I completed c25k last summer and am running regularly. I have a really sore knee for the first time this week, having got new running shoes that have completely sorted my heel problem! Last night it was so painful I was crying out. I am having a week off running and I am doing some exercises to strengthen my legs. I think these sort of exercises should be done alongside the c25k really. here's a link to what I am doing this week knee exercises

Although it would be better to get a professional opinion!

CruCru · 13/01/2015 12:29

W6R2 done. It's quite gratifying, I'd got my 10,000 steps in before 12. Now I'm tempted to just lie in a starfish in the middle of the floor.

Grin crucru!

Lagoonablue · 13/01/2015 16:08

Thanks. Am still hobbling but am not running til Thursday now so hopefully it will improve.

IKYTWTLYA · 13/01/2015 16:59

Supposed to do week 3 run 1 today. But it's sooo cold! It's supposed to snow later.

I need to suck it up and just go.

CruCru · 13/01/2015 17:19

It's a bit late IKYTWTLYA, are you okay running in the dark?

OP posts:
IKYTWTLYA · 13/01/2015 17:58

Oh yes! We have a little gang of after-dark runners here! We work, and have small children so it's evenings or nothing during the week anyway.

It's a safe small town and we've got beautiful Tron lights from Lidl.

Although we're sneaking off to the gym tonight instead as it's just started snowing. I have to have an induction though so won't have time to do the whole run.

IKYTWTLYA · 13/01/2015 20:03

I gave in and had a 'taster' at the gym so did my run on a treadmill.

I managed the 3 minute runs (whoop!) but I think I prefer running outside. Even with the hills.

Now, I never thought I'd say those words!

cheapandcheerful · 13/01/2015 22:20

Does week 3 involve 3-minute runs???
Confused

I did w2r2 today and for the first time my mind started to wander a big and I even forgot that I was running at one point!

I think I will find it tough running for 3-minutes though. My legs hurt today Blush

IKYTWTLYA · 13/01/2015 23:08

On the Get Running app it does!

I was dreading it, but it was ok in the end.

Well done with your run. I've not had that experience yet, probably because I tend to run with friends. Maybe I should try some solo runs.

DisparateHouseMice · 14/01/2015 17:43

W3 R2 done and dusted.
I'm hardly aching at all whereas the first two weeks I was in agony for an hour after each run.
It really is getting easier.
Dreading the first 5 minute run though!

CruCru · 15/01/2015 16:06

W6R3 done.

stilllearnin · 15/01/2015 16:42

Short post Cru! Out of breath? Wink Grin

DisparateHouseMice · 15/01/2015 17:28

Bravo Cru !

What does W6 entail?

DisparateHouseMice · 15/01/2015 17:30

Stillearnin: how's the knee?

CruCru · 15/01/2015 18:09

Ha ha, I was but it was a while ago.

W6R3 is 25 mins non stop running. I am incredibly slow but I did it (apart from a quick visit to the loo near the beginning).

OP posts:
Lagoonablue · 15/01/2015 20:21

Did w2r2 but knees still sore. I only did about half the runs and walked the rest of the time. I might have to leave it a few days and start week 2 again next week.Hmm

Have been enjoying it too.

stilllearnin · 15/01/2015 22:02

The knee is...interesting...and a bit mysterious. It is only sore intermittently but then morphs into massive thigh cramp. The pain is way worse than I experienced giving birth. I have been doing that mooing thing and also proper tears Shock

I went swimming very gently tonight as it is much worse sitting down so I have an idea I must keep it moving. I am not at all sure it's an injury from exercising but I don't want to make it worse. I am hoping it'll leave as mysteriously as it came!

stilllearnin · 15/01/2015 22:09

Oh Lagoon I hear you. I feel proper tantrummy about it.

Cru! 28 mins next week? Fantastic stuff Smile

CruCru · 15/01/2015 22:19

That's the plan. I'm going skiing in a months time so I'd really like to be as fit as possible. Plus I am really too fat for my skiing trousers. Ugh.

OP posts:
Lagoonablue · 16/01/2015 07:07

Knees so bad could hardly get down the stairs this morning! This isn't good. Going to have to have a longish lay off I think.

Really cross.

Hope all the other injured get better soon!

Lagoonablue · 16/01/2015 07:08

Stilllearning, yes tantrum my is the way I feel too.

OnlyBejoking · 16/01/2015 20:20

May I join you? Did my first run today which was amazingly fine apart from icy winds. I'm looking forward to the next now!
