Mitch, I did intervals on my country lane in the dark on Monday, with a headtorch I was ok. I can do morning dark much better than night time dark though, as I know it will only get lighter!

Standing, now I have a craving for chips!

Mitchy1nge · 12/12/2014 10:09

no running :( hurt my back somehow (chief suspect: strong horse) and spent night spewing up tramadol

emummy · 12/12/2014 10:52

Oh Mitchy that's horrible, hope things improve soon.
Tried that 30-20-10 work out HalleLouja, was quite hard but good fun. Fun added to by running through a very icy puddle and later getting shoe stuck in a bog! Had to doctor the mapmyrun time to reflect time spent digging it out!
So 3.8 from me, 5.5 from ThursdayLast makes 341.07

Suzannewithaplan · 12/12/2014 11:30

?
Sounds rotten Mitchy:(
(I'm picturing you struggling to control some sort of cart horse)
I used to be plagued with ?lower back problems but have been fine in recent years-no idea why!

Is it a longstanding problem? ?

Mitchy1nge · 12/12/2014 11:34

no, my back, my whole core really, is very strong (or so I thought) I have one particular horse who does hurt my back, he tends to lean on the bit and his head must weigh about 100kg Confused

am at a total loss, that's just my best guess because have ridden him a lot more than usual - unless somehow this stride lengthening exercise has done something but it seems so extreme. please hurry up gp who is supposedly on call!

standingonlego · 12/12/2014 11:51

Sorry to hear you are suffering Mitchy, hope GP is in touch soon.

Thank you for the chip linked encouragement :) I am just aiming to get through Christmas with greediness damage limitation and then operation "eat clean" starts in the new year.

However, a good task-based useful 5.3 miles this morning between the garage (car in for service) and home so take us to 346.37.

blathers good to see you back on the thread! Hope the garmin starts to behave :) you joining us in the mud in April? Anyone else ;)

Suzannewithaplan · 12/12/2014 11:57

?I'm not saying that this is the case with you but ime and from what I was told by physios and osteopaths the level of pain was of?ten out of proportion to the actual damage.
Hope you get some relief asap! ?

Mitchy1nge · 12/12/2014 12:01

the gp could not have been less helpful grrrrrrr 'go about your daily life, take paracetamol for a few days'

my daily life involves running and riding horses, I can't even put my shoes on!

she is probably right though, if it came on suddenly it will prob go away just as quickly

BlueChampagne · 12/12/2014 13:02

Poor you Mitchy - hope it does go as quickly as it came.

A very modest 4.65 for me as I've been coughing my lungs up all week. New total 351.02.

ScienceRocks · 12/12/2014 15:00

Mitch, if you can take ibuprofen, I'd go for that rather than paracetamol because of the anti-inflammatory action. Take it regularly, not just when you feel you need it, and put heat on your back as much as you can.

Tramadol is evil stuff

Mitchy1nge · 12/12/2014 15:05

can't really take NSAIDs (although I did take naproxen yesterday but shouldn't) but thanks, a lovely friend has delivered heat pads and some of those lidocaine impregnated patches

ScienceRocks · 12/12/2014 15:08

Do you have a bad reaction to them Mitch?

Mitchy1nge · 12/12/2014 15:22

I take lithium and had some chronic toxicity type issue over the summer (not NSAID related) so it's probably a good idea to steer clear of anything like that - much as I'd like the anti inflammatory action!

HalleLouja · 12/12/2014 16:42

4.2 miles from me makes 355.2.

emummy am going to try after I have done my 10 mile race at the end of the year. Looks good.

Why has no one told me about Jessie Pavelka before? I think I need to raise the £600 to go on one of his sessions. To learn more about running.....

ScienceRocks · 12/12/2014 19:33

Ah, I see. Paracetamol has some anti-inflammatory effect, so take it regularly for best results!

Did jillian last night and I must be fitter because I don't hurt today!

TheBigBumTheory · 12/12/2014 20:05

Mitchy
Hope you recover quickly, it's so frustrating when you can't do what you want to do. I have to watch my hip because it plays up when I increase mileage too much.

3 miles from me last night, was mainly fast hill work so hopefully useful.

Am doing a parkrun tomorrow with dd, so early bed for me.

cinnamongreyhound · 13/12/2014 01:13

Sorry to hear about your back Mitchy1inge! Hope it improves quickly otherwise go and see someone other than a gp for help.

Hopefully parkrun for me tomorrow. I've had some bad news today about my baby, from what they saw on the scan it looks as though he has a condition which means he will be admitted to scbu at birth and have to have an operation at 4-5days old. His kidneys are potentially being damaged in the mean time and things are being monitored closely but they're hoping I'll be able to go to term. I've been sick this evening while babysitting buy putting it down to tiredness, stress and just generally feeling rubbish!

ScienceRocks · 13/12/2014 09:27

Oh cinnamon, how worrying Sad

OnTheThursdayOfChristmas · 13/12/2014 10:43

Cinnamon Thanks it must be an anxious time for you and your family..
