Minge I think I translated dénivelé incorrectly, I never ran in the UK so I really only know the French terms - it means ascent, or climbing, not sure how you say that in English. But no oxygen required Grin
Tomorrow I'm doing les fractionnés (interval training??, 50 mins jog then 8 x 200m, 6 x 300m). With a club friend, not the dog.

cinnamongreyhound · 04/12/2014 19:14

Rubbish my friend has cancelled tomorrow morning, so I am still only going to run once this week and hopefully Sunday.

thats a real bummer when you're in a position of needing a training partner Cinnamon :(

I've never had friends that were into exercise so never had a training partner for any of my various fitness endevours

cinnamongreyhound · 04/12/2014 20:22

I didn't until I joined my club, I have made many friends and do enjoy running with others :)

Evening all, I have 1 mile to add from my warm up in personal training session, every little helps!

So 93.5

Cinnamon, I hope you get some runs in and a running buddy sorted.

HalleLouja · 04/12/2014 21:02

5.3 to add makes 98.8. Fab run with my running club.

feetheart · 04/12/2014 22:52

6.3 to add from tonight's club run. Was supposed to be the usual 4.5ish run but somehow we went a different way and ended up going further Hmm Felt good though and was a decent pace.

105.1

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 05/12/2014 08:06

Mitchy1nge · 06/12/2014 09:05

I DO fancy it even though am the oldest and slowest person in the world!

how are you feeling after your longer runs suzanne? clocking some serious miles there

feetheart · 06/12/2014 09:27

Mitchy - bet you are not the oldest, I may have to challenge you on that :) And slow doesn't matter, it isn't times and we run as a team.

Do it, do it, do it...

Mitchy1nge · 06/12/2014 09:48

hah I think I remember this 'oldest, most visually impaired, slowest, shortest, creakiest' chat last time Grin

Mitchy1nge · 06/12/2014 10:20

URGENT! runners who feel the cold - normal tights under running tights, good or mental idea?

Suzannewithaplan · 06/12/2014 11:03

?
After recent longer runs I feel totally stoned on endogenous feel good chemicals Mitchy!
My thrice sprained ankle seems fine and I'm not getting the piriformis pain that I used to get after treadmill running in vibrams.

Outdoor running is much easier mentally and my average speed is a little higher than on the treadmill. ?

Mitchy1nge · 06/12/2014 11:10

it is sooooooooo much easier, I thought I was going to die a couple of days before my half marathon when I thought a mile or two on the treadmill might be nice Hmm

treadmills must cause awful wear and tear on specific joints and muscle groups due to the repetitive thudding on the same surface, in the outside world with its undulations and ditches and puddles and tree roots and uneven paving slabs and rabbit holes and slippery leaves and so on your whole self has to get involved

Suzannewithaplan · 06/12/2014 11:15

I nearly hit the deck yesterday via an uneven paving slabBlush

I do see your point about treadmills, although I've never really thought about it like that!
always assumed that they were less wear and tearConfused

On the subject of tights I used to wear them under trousers all winter back in the days when I felt the cold, thick 100 denier ones with the feet cut off.

Suspect 2 pairs of thin running tights might be better?

I am having trouble finding running tights to fit me, they all seem too tight in the thigh and too big in the body / waist.
Men's tights seem a little better but does anyone know if there are any women's brands that are cut larger in the thigh? ?

Mitchy1nge · 06/12/2014 11:25

I've got massive thighs, well quite big quads anyway, am currently sporting some RonHill vizion photon tights with 'pleasedon'trunmeover' yellow bits and reflective strips everywhere. You just have to tighten them round the waist with the drawstring (fetching)! Am wearing convertible dance tights (as tights) underneath, a merino high neck ski base layer type top, another top over that and will put on whatever reflective running jacket is cleanish

giving my new thermal fluorescent top ten more minutes to be delivered before I head sadly out to meet running friend

Mitchy1nge · 06/12/2014 11:26

obviously gloves, ear warmer and buff and sunglasses go without saying

brrrrrrr!

Suzannewithaplan · 06/12/2014 11:40

?Wot no balaclava?
Have a fabulous run :o
(thanks, will check out women's ronhill tights)?
