Welcome suzanne it's fine to add your miles. Glad your back to running injuries are such a pain!!!

Mitchy1nge · 17/11/2014 10:19

have achieved first of 2 short runs (although severe wibble at running on country roads this evening without street lights)

2.4 plus Suzanne's makes 527.3

Suzannewithaplan · 17/11/2014 10:44

?Thanks Kimmi :o
Indeed the injured runner is like an addict who's lost her dealers phone number and can't get a fix.
(Not that I am in any way endorsing the use of intoxicants, nor trivializing substance addiction)?

Anyhow, I'm on track for an outdoor run in a few hours so will return later with my offering ?

Mitchy1nge · 17/11/2014 11:10

it's interesting how well ex-addicts take to running though

and are commended for their healthier obsession

ScienceRocks · 17/11/2014 11:21

Three miles from me this morning. Quite wet out, both underfoot and in the air, but the dog and I were undeterred. My Garmin switched itself off halfway through, alas Sad

New total is 530.3

MirandaWest · 17/11/2014 11:24

Did 3.2 miles this morning. Still argument between my iPod and phone about distance so taking the shorter one (although would like it to have been the longer one Grin)

533.5

Suzannewithaplan · 17/11/2014 11:28

?I guess, certainly the swapping of one addiction / compulsion for another is a recognized phenomena, then again I mostly see exercise addiction referred to as something pathological (albeit less so than substance addiction)

Perhaps I'm just paranoid but I deliberately don't get all my hits in the gym, I use cycling and outdoor running aswell.
Bit like the alcoholic who uses different off licenses? ?

Suzannewithaplan · 17/11/2014 11:32

Miranda, I'm thinking the ipod is acting as a pedometer and is therefore less accurate than iphone using GPS?
?
(I cross posted, previous post was in response to Mitchy on the subject of ex addicts) ?

MirandaWest · 17/11/2014 11:59

My iPod nano is basically being a pedometer I guess - it has a nike plus sensor on my shoe which "talks" to the receiver on the iPod. Used to be fine and would be ok if for example it was always further by a similar amount but todays run was 5.22k on iPod and 5.05k on runkeeper. On Friday they were the same. And on my walk back iPod was 0.55k and runkeeper was 0.6k so I am a little baffled.

Bf still says I need a garmin Grin

BlueChampagne · 17/11/2014 13:25

Oops, haven't been on since start of November, but have been running and can contribute 41 miles to make 574.50. Even did a 10 mile PB!

cinnamongreyhound · 17/11/2014 15:02

Everyone needs a garmin MirandaWest!!!

I have a footpod which is paired with my garmin Miranda, sometimes use it on the treadmill, it tends to overestimate distance but then I've never calibrated it, if you did that with yours it might be more accurate?

Suzannewithaplan · 17/11/2014 16:02

Today I ran

six point six six miles
6.66
666 Shock
oh dearConfused

brings the total to 581.16

feetheart · 17/11/2014 16:06

I need to add Saturday's parkrun so 584.26

Out tonight with club so should have more to add later.

Mitchy1nge · 17/11/2014 18:25

grrrrrrr at people bailing when you are waiting in unpleasant weather (luckily was in a warm house looking at the unpleasant weather but not MY house and could have been home Doing Stuff)

grrrrr

Suzannewithaplan · 17/11/2014 19:30

Feet, I think we cross posted so the total now is actually 587.92?

was that bailing because of the weather Mitchy?

I ran in the rain today, I wasn't wild about the wet feet, but compared to being wet on a bike it's a breezeWink

EdithDickie · 17/11/2014 21:25

589.92 now as I add my 2 miles from an excruciating lunchtime run with insanely fit work colleagues. Mortifying in a way (they can run up hills and talk at the same time!) but also a good thing to do. Now a weekly arrangement.

feetheart · 17/11/2014 21:57

Another 4.75 to add from an insanely fast club run tonight. Only 3 of us were there from our usual group so we ran with some others who ended up being much faster. Did the first 2 miles averaging under 7 mins a mile ShockShockShock (I am going really well if I'm doing 9-9:30!). I couldn't keep up after that and slowed right down. Still averaged 8:18 for the whole run - that's 69% on the age-grading Shock Shock. I have only managed to get over 60% half a dozen times!!

feetheart · 17/11/2014 21:57

594.67

EdithDickie · 18/11/2014 01:40

Wow feetheart! Shock

feetheart · 18/11/2014 06:37

Definitely wow Edith - I felt like death for most of it though and had got home and showered before my breathing sorted itself out Shock Still feel slightly stunned this morning!

MirandaWest · 18/11/2014 08:33

Wow feetheart I could not have done that Shock

Am going out for a run once children have gone to school. Bf and I will run 5k after his work tomorrow. Not sure how far I will go today but am still in shorts :)

MirandaWest · 18/11/2014 09:58

I did 2.17 m (3.5k) rather slower than your run last night feetheart Grin

596.84

Mitchy1nge · 18/11/2014 10:08

feetheart you are awesome! Feel a bit sick imagining it!

think over this week and next I'm tapering, haven't done that before, do people still do this?

emummy · 18/11/2014 10:20

Just checking in. Can't run, in fact walking not much fun, as lower back seized up yesterday morning. Feels sore around SI joints and across to right hip, had a lovely night last night trying not to scream when turning over in bed! Really cross as it's actually dry outside for once! Hope this gets better soon, am not happy.
Anyway enjoy all your runs, you are all doing brilliantly
