Open for any runners, or any runners looking to get their 'mojo' back.

I have a 10k on Sunday which I am feeling less than prepared for, and the stomach bug is just adding to that. I have a feeling I will be the slowest runner!

ssh feetheart he doesn't need to know that!

3.2 to add from me, much quicker than last time. Still have a sore throat so don't know why that should be! I passed a guy running the other way in a Royal Parks HM t-shirt. Would have been funny if I'd had mine on too, but it's in the wash as I wore it on Tuesday.

914.6 no chance of a thousand miles this month

emummy · 30/10/2014 13:18

2.2 from me this morning, wet again! Nice wee recovery run though, good pace. Ooh, cross country spikes, feetheart, wouldn't mind some of those! Have persuaded dh I need proper waterproof for running and it can be used when not running too so a good investment!

Thanks for the welcome everyone!

No running from me over the last couple of days because I have cricked my neck really badly, and my shoulders and arm are really painful. I'm hoping it gets better in time for a Park Run on Saturday, and have consoled myself by ordering something that has proved elusive for months: a hoodie with zip pockets so I can keep my keys and phone safe even if I tie it round my waist when running!

actiongirl1978 · 30/10/2014 13:54

Hi, I think it is about time I joined and started clocking some miles. I have lurked for absolutely ages, but finally feel like I am in a routine again after moving house.

So for me this week, I can add 8 miles, plus I am hopefully about to go out and run another 4 or so, just waiting for my energy levels to surge after some dark chocolate (feeling v lethargic after a lot of exercise plus a 4yr old who made me sleep in the middle of the bed from the early hours!).

feetheart · 30/10/2014 14:06

Hello Actiongirl, welcome to the madhouse :)
Good to see I'm not the only one spending money today. Spikes were recommended by some of the club members who have run the cross country series before so essential really :)

standingonlego · 30/10/2014 15:29

I was hoping to get a good run in tomorrow to help our October total but I appear to have twinged my back and right hip :(

Very frustrating...after my first hockey game passed without incident (unlike training the week before!) and my nice run with DH I appear to have hurt myself 10 pin bowling Blush. Blinking half term....

Liking the shopping feetheart and welcome actiongirl. Hello everyone else too :)

karatekimmi · 30/10/2014 17:17

did an awesome 9 miles this morning and I felt like I could go on but had to get home for coffee with friends and cute babies!! I also did 4.4 on Monday night and 1.2 on Wednesday before I realised I was never going to make it to club run on time so came home and ate pizza instead Grin

Welcome to all the newbies and be proud of what you achieve - anything is better than not trying at all, and although there are lots of speedy people around on this thread and in life, there are a lot of plodders like me!! A mile is a mile whether you cover it in 6 mins or 12 mins!! sorry got a bit ranty there

Now I need to sort out some fancy dress for parkrun on Saturday, something easy... Any ideas?

actiongirl1978 · 30/10/2014 17:34

Ok, so I made it 5.8m which was a long slow run for the week, so in all I have done 13.8 miles!

So as I forgot to add on earlier, that makes 938.2 I think!

Mitchy1nge · 30/10/2014 18:08

3.5 (I really hope this fucking unhelpful mood passes, I got 1.5 miles in and my whole body stopped co-operating, so trudged miserably home, then another two with new runner friend after a banana and a drink) am going to stuff my face tonight and pray my other friend doesn't cancel our run tomorrow (for all my whingeing it is easier with a friend!)

actiongirl1978 · 30/10/2014 18:45

It will pass mitchy. Food is the answer always!

Mitchy1nge · 30/10/2014 18:55

what can I have though? I always have my spinach (and whatever other veg: cherry tomato, red onion, aubergine, courgette etc) 2 egg omelette with feta but for no reason (or probably because have had it every day for far too long?) have gone off it

am lost without it but can't face eating it

what other egg based things go well with spinach and veg? it's so hard to be me sometimes!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 30/10/2014 22:08

A 5 that turned into 6.5 because I didn't have my garmin with me.

Hope you have cheered up M1tchy Smile

Scrambled eggs instead of omelette?

standingonlego · 30/10/2014 23:40

Can we rustle up a spooky 50 miles between us tomorrow to make that magic 1000? Halloween Wink

Mitchy1nge · 30/10/2014 23:50

thanks ohone I think I have

meeting someone at her house for a hopefully at least 6 miles, if I park a mile away I can get my 8, that will help

literally, one successful run is all I need to sort me out usually

MirandaWest · 30/10/2014 23:52

I could try and leave the house tomorrow Blush. Might manage 2 miles. Or maybe 3. Or I might fail altogether Blush

karatekimmi · 31/10/2014 06:23

Ha ha I was thinking that 1000 is definitely doable, I might have to put my trainers on today! Not too sore after yesterday.

actiongirl1978 · 31/10/2014 08:13

Sorry, I have to actually do something with my children today, instead of leaving them for grandparental fun while I run - so no miles from meSad anyone else heading out for a long one?

actiongirl1978 · 31/10/2014 08:13

Mitchy - why so many egg based items?

ThursdayOfTheLivingDead · 31/10/2014 08:13

We've GOT to get to 1000 surely??
I'll get out in a bit

Mitchy1nge · 31/10/2014 08:47

I don't know actiongirl, maybe eggs are the most convenient protein for me? I almost always have two a day, preferably in a spinach omelette. Will have something else if I'm out of course.

Going to do my bit for our group total now!

feetheart · 31/10/2014 08:52

I can add 4.8 club run from last night but off to London to see poppies, baby tigers and scoff lots in Chinatown today so that's it from me for October :)

953 - it's going to be close :)

TheBigBumTheory · 31/10/2014 08:55

Morning all!

5.3 from me last night at a training class.

Is there a record number of miles per thread?

postmanpatscat · 31/10/2014 09:06

I'm no help, my speedy 5k yesterday has left me a bit sore. Happy to cheer on today's runners though.

feetheart · 31/10/2014 09:22

TheBigBumTheory - we have been adding things per month. We have done miles a few times, km once or twice and time once (that was far too complicated :)) We seem to have settled for miles recently.
There is no real target but we can get a bit hyped up close to the end of the month when we are near to a nice big round number!
With your 5.3 the total is now 958.3

actiongirl1978 · 31/10/2014 09:34

Ok, so now I feel I may have to come back from our day out and do a few miles...!
