New thread for park runners old and new. Who's running at home and away this weekend? Who's volunteering?

Watch the cross country. The weather looks really harsh in Edinburgh.

cinnamongreyhound · 10/01/2015 14:28

And snow Shock

HalleLouja · 10/01/2015 14:29

Did you see the hills?

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 10/01/2015 17:19

Oh cinners that sounds a pain. Some people eh?! When we had that glitch a few months ago when all the times came out at 59:59 people were really up in arms. No concept that the people doing the timing are volunteers.

We watched a bit of Edinburgh. When the 4k started I confidently said that it would take 12 minutes - which was almost spot on. I wouldn't have known that without parkrun!

Took it easy at parkrun, but still managed a respectable 26 mins. Was saving myself for the handicap chase straight afterwards, but only managed 27 minutes at it, though I did overtake a few people along the way.

"Congratulations on achieving 100 parkruns. You are our newest member of the parkrun 100 club. The results will now display a 100 club icon next to your name."

It was very blowy and the 'wife's weather fairies only held the rain off until about 3k so it was very wet too but today was a wonderful parkrun. My brother and his fiance came down from Yorkshire, another friend drove for an hour to come over, a very fast friend slowed down to run with me and I ran most of the course surrounded by a little group of friends. I got a shout out in the pre run briefing, feet and little feet came and said 'Hi' and the cakes I baked went down very well. I was hugged and congratulated so many times I lost count! It was one of those days when I felt properly like a part of the community and it really made me smile Grin

MelanieCheeks · 10/01/2015 17:59

Yay! Many congrats, Blathers, that's wonderful!

cinnamongreyhound · 10/01/2015 18:17

Sounds wonderful Blatherskite!!!!!'

karatekimmi · 10/01/2015 18:43

Well done blathers!' Running royalty now!!

Parkrun was on so got ready, only for it to be cancelled at 8.50 as a massive tree went down after someone had checked the route. We had a 7 mile run planned for after to a cupcake shop which went ahead anyway. Do runs count of you immediately eat back all the calories??

ThursdayLast · 10/01/2015 19:34

Yes kimmi because otherwise I'd only be on about 10 parkruns.

There's a v convenient Macdonalds between parkrun and home...

Knackerelli · 10/01/2015 20:19

Woohoo Blathers!! Grin Grin Grin

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 10/01/2015 20:49

4th parkrun completed this morning! A very windy one but happy I managed a PB 30:35, getting faster. Isn't it a great community to be park of?! (Can u tell I am slightly obsessed!!).

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 10/01/2015 22:54

Well done Dotty!

Thank you Smile

feetheart · 11/01/2015 14:32

Had a windy and wet time volunteering at MK but learnt a lot about how to manage 470 parkrunners Shock.
Great to be there for Blathers 100 and the cakes were superb :)

Want to run the course now but probably back for more volunteering in early February as minifeet has another cross-country over that way.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 11/01/2015 15:31

Let me know when you are going to MK feet and I will try to come too.

Am also toying with Panshanger on 7 Feb if anyone is up for it Smile. And this time colleague will not be getting a lift to the next installment of the course (he's not a runner Grin).

Oh I might be able to join you. Depends on what the weather is like. I have heard it really tough if its been raining and am waiting for drier days.

Blatherskite · 11/01/2015 16:04

The first time I was RD we had 527 feet!!

It was lovely to have you there for my 100th. Glad you found it useful too.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 11/01/2015 16:09

That would be great Halle, and good tip about the weather. I need to be in Stevenage by 10:30 so will have a look at the tourist tool Blathers posted a while ago to see where else might work.

OP posts:
feetheart · 11/01/2015 19:26

Rats, 7th is when we will be back at MK :(

527 Shock

HalleLouja · 11/01/2015 19:33

Not sure what I'd happening to the Hitchin one as that would have been perfect oh.

St Albans would be do able. You could be in Stevenage by 1030.

HalleLouja · 11/01/2015 19:34

You could even fit in a shower. Just down A414 and up the A1.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 11/01/2015 19:36

There are showers at the college in Stevenage, so that's covered. Panshanger is 20 mins, SA 30 mins drive so it's certainly do-able, might just be a bit of a rush Grin
