New thread for park runners old and new. Who's running at home and away this weekend? Who's volunteering?

Ooooh, just filling in dates on my year planner. Allowing 3-4 weeks of non-running, and taking into account planned holidays, I might be doing my 100th on the Saturday closest to my birthday (54th, but who's counting....well, another year till I get into the next age-graded range!)

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 11/01/2015 19:47

Ooh that would be good Melanie. Shall we all book our flights Grin?

Certainly can! Wallace in Lisburn on 10th October - all welcome, I will definitely be providing cake!

cinnamongreyhound · 11/01/2015 21:08

May be going to wimpole 31st, hope it's not too muddy! Any tips for those who went last week?

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 11/01/2015 21:11

Bring cash for a bacon or sausage butty in the cafe afterwards Grin

The hill isn't THAT bad Grin

And there is plenty of opportunity for a sprint finish once you get on to the paths at the end Grin

I'm down to volunteer on 31st so sadly can't join you cinnamon

cinnamongreyhound · 11/01/2015 21:41

I think it's the hill that is in the hoohaah 10k but not 100% sure, so may have done it. I will not be sprint finishing! I'm getting slower by the day Wink

feetheart · 11/01/2015 22:42

I was going to say bring money for cake but Ohone and her bacon butty beat me to it however you are eating for two so can have both :o

Politics is what has happened to Hitchin at the moment :(

feetheart · 14/01/2015 16:44

I dreamt about parkrun last night. It may be taking over my life :o

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 14/01/2015 19:30

Arf feet, you have just reminded me that I was doing the Wolef run with you and Blathers when I woke up this morning Shock Grin

OP posts:
cinnamongreyhound · 14/01/2015 19:40

I only dream about parkrun when I'm in charge Wink

Blatherskite · 14/01/2015 20:58

I'm parkrunning in Copenhagen this weekend! Grin

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 14/01/2015 22:02

Have a great time Blathers hope it is not too cold.

I expect to be running at home on Saturday for the first time in what feels like a while. I have only missed 2 weeks, but because I did the NYD double, followed by Wimpole tourism it feels like a lot longer.

cinnamongreyhound · 16/01/2015 17:48

I posted a challenge for everyone to bring a friend to parkrun tomorrow, let's see if we can beat our record attendance or if everyone just thinks I'm daft!!

ThursdayLast · 16/01/2015 21:26

So jealous Blathers Envy

tomorrow is lanhydrock parkrun first anniversary, and I have made buns to take with me yay! Cake
Apparently there's some kind of presentation at the beginning, but I don't know the details.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 16/01/2015 22:29

Happy anniversary Thursday

Not daft at all cinners Smile

MelanieCheeks · 17/01/2015 07:47

Ooooh, Blathers, very cosmopolitan!

I'm touristing too, but only to Bangor. Ice and snow permitting....

I'm going there because that's where the next step of my guide-jog training is taking place.

Happy Anniversary, Thursday!

Hope your bring-a-friend challenge is a success, cinnamon!

KristinaM · 17/01/2015 09:05

Snowy here

Have a good run everyone

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 17/01/2015 11:46

We had a few snow flurries as I was getting ready, but it was fine when we were running.

Hope you enjoyed your tourism Melanie

I had my fastest run since I PB'd last May Shock. Nowhere near my PB, but a good minute or two faster than I've been doing in recent months since being injured. Dry January and managing to run - even short ones - during the week are paying off Grin

OP posts:
cinnamongreyhound · 17/01/2015 12:15

We had 15 first timers and 65 runners (or record attendance is 67), so wasn't such a bad idea! We had some snow about 8.45 but it didn't last Sad

ThursdayLast · 17/01/2015 12:40

Was a total success!

The rd set up a gazebo at the finish and there was an amazing array of cake - some were beautifully decorated with the parkrun logo.

It was blummin cold though. No snow, but there had obviously been a hail shower at some point that had frozen onto the tarmac. At some points we were marshalled onto the crispy grass, the path was just too treacherous.

I got a little shout out for being high up in the points Smile and we had our first 50.

feetheart · 17/01/2015 14:28

That's hardcore tourism Blathers :)

Sounds like a good anniversary Thursday

Melanie - how was Bangor? That might be our first NI one when we finally get back home to visit again.

Marshalling at SA today - started in sunshine and finished in snow Shock
DS and I were 'icy puddle marshals' so I had to yell A LOT to get people to go round them and try not to be trampled by the faster runners who took no notice of us even though we were in the middle of the path (in front of a large patch of black ice). Such a shame none of them ended up in the lake Wink

Thinking about Tring next week, an inaugural the week after then back to MK for more volunteering and cross country for DS at beginning of Feb. After that it will depend on how our funding meeting goes on Thursday

feetheart · 17/01/2015 14:48

Yay, our first choice for design and colour of volunteer t-shirt won.

2nd design and Eggplant purple :)

cinnamongreyhound · 17/01/2015 14:50

Yay! The yellow caught up quite quickly though. It was about 80% eggplant when I voted and it didn't win by much in the end.

MelanieCheeks · 17/01/2015 14:55

Lots of parkrun cancellations today due to ice, including Bangor. I went instead to Victoria, beside the airport, and in the shadow of the Harland and Wolff cranes. It was freezing cold, my wee toes were still tingling at km3. But even though I felt I wasn't running that well, still came in at 28:35. Last time I'd been at Victoria I had Mini with me, and we did it in 29:03. So that's a new PB for that course, and my fastest non-canine-assisted one.
