New thread for park runners old and new. Who's running at home and away this weekend? Who's volunteering?

Yes, it is I in the same tshirt boat. Did my 50th in August, ordered a size 10, have just done my 67th so I'm wondering if I will get my 100 tshirt before the 50 one!

SaltySeaBird · 05/01/2015 23:23

I guess DH was really lucky, although another family member did their 50th in October and got their T-shirt too! I hope the new ones are as nice as the Adidas ones though.

I don't mind paying postage, I'm happy to have a new t-shirt although red has never been a good colour for me ... A little close to the colour of my face once I've done a couple of km!

Blatherskite · 06/01/2015 09:56

Just waiting in for my Tribesports delivery now so I'll feedback on what the shirts are like. The parkrun t-shirts aren't ready of course but I ordered one of their shirts to check the fit.

KristinaM · 06/01/2015 11:55

010203 - the 50 and 100 adidias t shirts are really small fitting and quite short ( and I'm only 5'5") . I don't know why they make them like that as most female runners wear capris or running tights for most of the year and want a t shirt that is mid hip length rather than waist length

Some of the more curvy female runners at our parkrun have ordered the men's t shirts instead for this reason ( but they are huge and too long IMHO ).

I ordered a size 12 for my 50th - I'm a 10 and like you I don't like them tight but it was quite neat fitting, so I got a 14 for my 100th and it's perfect .

So I think you'll be please you went for the bigger size, even if you're had to wait

ThursdayLast · 06/01/2015 12:49

Fingers crossed all this t-shirt malarkey by the time I get to 50 Grin

20 runs to go - so probs around 6 months taking wedding and volunteering and the-times-I-can't-be-bothered into account!

Blatherskite · 06/01/2015 12:57

We're on at least the 3rd version of 50 t-shirts now I think so it'll depend on which one you got. They were sponsored by Nike for 3 years, the swapped to Adidas and then Adidas changed their design about 6 months ago.

My 50 shirt is the one before last and fits really well.

cinnamongreyhound · 06/01/2015 13:05

I have the old Adidas version although others who got theirs before me got the new version so I assumed there were lots of my size laying around! I did the same as KristinaM, I'm an 8 so ordered a 10 as I like running tops to be on the bigger side and it is still more fitted than I'd like. Wondering if when the tribesports ones come you'll be able to adjust size as I know people who ordered bigger than their size as Adidas are apparently well known for coming up small. My new trails shoes are Adidas and I had to go up half a size too.

Blatherskite · 06/01/2015 13:25

Hopefully Wiggle will be able to allow you to swap sizes as they're better set up for that. Wondering if parkrun t-shirts will come with a free mini bag of Haribo like all their other stuff does too :)

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 06/01/2015 13:44

Thanks for that Kristina (were you Kristingle last week? I thought it might be you in seasonal attire). Good to know about the length too - although I'm reasonably trim on top, and my legs are OK, I have a delightful roll in the middle which never goes away - even at my most toned/fit when I did my marathon it was still there. So I like my tops to at least cover (and even better, disguise) it.

Advice please, oh wise parkrunners.

We are having an additional event this week - a handicap chase using our PB times to determine starting position, though the bunching at the finish line should be a right larf!

It takes place at 10.30 , after the 9.30 parkrun. I don't want to miss the parkrun, given that I'm working towards my next Tshirt. I'd like to do the handicap chase, but my fast times are all with-dog. I think it'll be OK to run with Mini in both, but will that be too much for her? Or me? Should I just take it easy on the first run, and have an energy bar on standby for the interval?

cinnamongreyhound · 06/01/2015 14:00

If you want to give the handicap run a good effort I'd tail run at parkrun. It's helping out, still counts to your t-shirt and you will be forced to take it easy :)

SaltySeaBird · 06/01/2015 21:16

Be interested to see how the sizing of the new tops works out, I definitely prefer (and need) longer tops!

Have to say tail runner is my favourite volunteer position although I'm thinking of offering to do pacing in a few weeks time. DH has done it a few times and said he'd help me, he was spot on with his time last time he did it.

KristinaM · 06/01/2015 23:10

010203 - yes that was me with my Santa hat on . Re flabby tum - yes , it's those bloody kids innit ? I'd be a bikini model now if it wasn't for those last two kids in my 40s Grin

Blathers - my 100 t shirt is about 9 months old I think, as I got a jacket too and they stopped them about Easter IIRC. Although it's still in good nick as I only wear it to parkrun - at home I run on country roads with no pavement so it's tasteful hi vis for me all the way .

So kind of you to order a new t shirt to road test for our benefit Smile

cinnamongreyhound · 09/01/2015 09:50

Look out for the snazzy new yellow tape at parkrun tomorrow Grin

KristinaM · 09/01/2015 13:36

The tape at the start and the funnel ?

cinnamongreyhound · 09/01/2015 13:53

Yes finish funnel (we don't have tape at the start). Most parkruns have Adidas on the tape and I got my new roll sent this week Smile

Blatherskite · 09/01/2015 14:10

Ooh, I wonder if we have new tape?

I am baking whirlwind today trying to get enough made for tomorrow! Grin

KristinaM · 09/01/2015 14:11

That's nice and bright for these grey mornings

We have tape at the start , obviously our runners are very boisterous compared to yours , we need to keep them in line. Then we gather it all up , pick up the cones and run down the finish to build it again. very high tech

KristinaM · 09/01/2015 14:12

Whirlwind ? Is this an autocorrect or a cake ?

feetheart · 09/01/2015 14:38

Cake-making whirlwind I think - I've seen pictures and am hoping to eat some of the results tomorrow :o

Seems to be a running/cake theme going today as there have also been lots of cake-making photos on our neighbouring running club's FB as they are hosting the cross country league on Sunday. Think I am going to do well for cake this week (and talk parkrun A LOT :))

HalleLouja · 09/01/2015 14:59

Am doing SA this week. Missed it last week but looking forward the morning if it doesn't rain.

feetheart · 09/01/2015 15:04

It's their 3rd birthday tomorrow Halle but I don't think they are doing anything.
Say Happy Birthday from me as I will be volunteering at MK and eating Blathers 100th cake then watching DS run cross country close by. May be a cold morning for me though only rain is forecast

cinnamongreyhound · 09/01/2015 16:41

Wimpole have just cancelled their birthday parkrun due to high winds Sad

feetheart · 09/01/2015 16:44

That's sad, they seemed like a lovely bunch last week, very good at cheering :)

MelanieCheeks · 09/01/2015 17:43

Oh yes, all the best, Blathers!
