New thread for park runners old and new. Who's running at home and away this weekend? Who's volunteering?

Second logo and purple here too - I like purple Xmas Smile

cinnamongreyhound · 31/12/2014 21:39

Although it's eggplant not purple Xmas Wink

HalleLouja · 01/01/2015 06:37

Am off to SA today. Not doing the double.

Though there is still time.

Happy New Year.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 01/01/2015 08:06

DS1 and I are doing the double Grin

This time last year I went to Huntingdon. I thought that was a fairly normal thing to do, but thought the doublers were slightly mad Smile.

At this rate I will be running on Christmas Day this year Hmm

Happy New Year to all of you, and may your running goals be achieved.

Morning you lovely folk Grin. DS and I had a long discussion and went for second logo and yellow - thinking visibility on course, but the purple / eggplant was nice too. Did not think of the other folks looking similar as not many of them here!

MK juniors?? We would defo be there in the summer (when no rugby) and will happily pull on a high-viz for you blathers Smile

Wish I was running Buckingham today but new year walk beckons Envy

ThursdayLast · 01/01/2015 11:36

I voted second logo and slate.

My head hurts

cinnamongreyhound · 01/01/2015 11:38

Oh dear ThursdayLast!

I ran one today, nearest ones didn't stagger enough to do double. Took biggest doggy and was 53rd, not sure of total number of finishers.

feetheart · 01/01/2015 12:57

Just the one today - a blustery SA.
Running to keep up most of the way round but then DS had a strange stitch/breathing thing and we ran/walked/staggered to the end. Still got under 30mins though. Seems fine now so my slight 'Oh God is it appendicitis?' concern seems unfounded.

feetheart · 01/01/2015 13:15

He doesn't actually look too bad at the finish line

MelanieCheeks · 01/01/2015 14:19

Very nice, littlefeat!

MelanieCheeks · 01/01/2015 14:37

So. Reading the T shirt email, I should have my red Tshirt by......March?????

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 01/01/2015 15:04

Smile I dare not hope Melanie I am on 68 now and have missed/volunteered at a few since my 50, so it is at least 5 months.

DS1 earned his 10 shirt today, and said he'd had an email.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 01/01/2015 15:09

(sorry, pressed send too soon) but he didn't tell me what it said about ordering the shirt. Not sure if they make 10 shirts in his size anyway Grin

Happy new year fellow parkrunners

I did a double this morning for the first time ever, as one of our local runs moved theirs to 11am . It was horrendously wet and windy at both , so I my times were rubbish but I was just glad to get round .

I've signed up to Jantastic to motivate me to run more this year

cinnamongreyhound · 01/01/2015 16:39

The eldest boys we've have get a 10 at ours is 14 OhOneOhTwoOhThree but we've had girls who are bigger than me get 10's and they've got their size, in fact the one who had to wait the longest was our 6 year old as I think parkrun had a lot more younger runners than they expected!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 01/01/2015 16:47

Well done Kristingle Smile. Getting out on NYD is enough, never mind the times. Both DS1 and I were faster at our second than our first this morning.

cinnamon that's good to know. DS2 wears adult sizes - he's the tallest in the house.

What an awesome New Years Day!!

I ran my very first double crossing off parkruns numbers 97 and 98, spent the morning with 2 of my closest friends, bumped into a couple of WOLF running MNers, got my course count up to 24 and finished it all off with a bacon sandwich Grin

Lego MK Junior parkrun is only an idea at the moment. It's been talked about for a while but one of our RD has taken the reins and is putting things in motion now. We're working on getting a core team and will then need to find a course and get funding. Might be a while but you would be more than welcome to come and volunteer once it's up and running.

Melanie they're hoping we can start ordering tshirts by March. They're coming via Wiggle direct to your house and you'll need to pay postage but hopefully they'll set things up so that the backlog get cleared quickly so that people aren't waiting too long.

OhOne I'm sure our new RD got his 10 t-shirt in a men's large size so hopefully there will be one for your DS.

Kristingle · 01/01/2015 19:53

Well done blathers, nearly at the magic 100.

Big of a letdown to have to wait 3- 4 months for the t shirt though . Do we know what the new style ones will look like ?

Mayvis · 01/01/2015 20:26

Did my first ever parkrun today. Loads of mud, ice cold puddles, icy paths and a huge hill. I don't have trail trainers and have only run on pavements before. So it was a challenge! Had to walk the hill as it was so muddy.

But I got round! 33.27

Not too bad, only started running 3 months ago. Now to get that time down.

Blatherskite · 01/01/2015 20:26

According to the announcement by parkrun HQ, they're still designing them so no idea what the style will be like yet. I heard the rumour that it might be Tribesports the morning before it became official and I needed some new kit anyway so I've ordered a t-shirt and long sleeved top to see what the sizes and fit are like.

Waiting is a bit frustrating but it is a free t-shirt at the end of the day so I guess we can't be too demanding.

Blatherskite · 01/01/2015 20:34

Well done Mayvis. Welcome to the parkrun family :) What a perfect day to do your first run!

MelanieCheeks · 02/01/2015 21:59

Welcome aboard mayvis!

I've put together a goody bag for my friend doing her 40th parkrun tomorrow on her 40th birthday-a copy of runners world mag, bounce ball energy bar, bath melt shaped like a cupcake.

Weather looks ok for the mornings no!

fruitpastille · 02/01/2015 22:00

Hi everyone. Think I am going to try my first parkrun tomorrow but feel apprehensive! Very much a beginner - have completed c25k in the past. This last week or so I have done 2 miles 4 times but very slowly! Kept jogging but over 12 min mile according to mapmyrun. Just hoping there will be lots of other new year newbies :-) Tell me it will be OK...

MelanieCheeks · 02/01/2015 22:05

It'll be fine, fruit, parkrunners are very welcoming of beginners!
