New thread for park runners old and new. Who's running at home and away this weekend? Who's volunteering?

Kristingle · 30/12/2014 13:26

Thursday -I think you've got your priorities wrong there . Surely the running goals should be first ? Wink

ThursdayLast · 30/12/2014 14:27

Haha Kristingle
I'm only getting married first because there aren't enough Saturday's to get my 50th in first Wink

Kristingle · 30/12/2014 14:55

That's the spirit, Thursday Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 30/12/2014 22:10

I'm totally gutted but going to have to cancel wimpole on Saturday Sad dh's sister can only manage Saturday to go and sort everything with his dad and we need to be in Skegness by 10.30. I'm sorry to let you all down Sad will have to try and get there another time.

standingonlego · 30/12/2014 22:11

Loving the resolutions, and chuckling at Thursday priorities :)

Absolutely agree withOhOne to be at feet inaugural, blathers 100th is proving logistically challenging at moment Xmas Sad Xmas Angry but working on it.

Other goals....enjoy april WOLF, new 5k PB, support BF at her 1st marathon, complete the Crich monument race in the summer....and survive turning 40 Grin

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 30/12/2014 22:47

cinners completely understand. Lots of love to you and DH ((((hugs))))

feetheart · 31/12/2014 09:15

Did think it might prove difficult Cinnamon, will definitely find another time. Take care Flowers

Liking all the resolutions to get to our inaugural - better finish sorting out funding then Xmas Smile

Hoping to get to Blathers 100 though will go as volunteer rather than runner as DS has cross country race later that morning (luckily in MK!)

Blatherskite · 31/12/2014 10:32

Crikey! I'd better make sure there is some good cake!

I've been a bit shocked at how many people are willing to travel just to run with me to be honest. One friend is even deferring a marathon to be there! Shock Blush

Numbers 97 and 98 will be done tomorrow. It's all getting very, very close!

Volunteered yesterday to be on the Core team for the MK Junior parkrun that one of our RD's is working on getting going. We appear to have lots and lots of people really interested in having one so that their kids can run it but not so much that want to actually volunteer. My children will definitely want to run and as I know first hand how hard it is to get help, I couldn't really not volunteer.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 31/12/2014 10:35

Just do the same yummy cake as your 50th Blathers it was lovely!

feet I will check with my posse, but I think we might still go to Wimpole on Saturday.

See you tomorrow (twice) Blathers Smile

They were supposed to be going today and as I'm working was going to have to leave dh to it but sil wants to leave it to the weekend and as I can I want to be there to support him and do some of the driving as its a horrible journey. He wanted me to go but that would mean him riding his bike up there and back as I'd have the car and I'm not having him do that!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 31/12/2014 11:00

Oh gosh no you can't let DH do that cinnamon

There will be other opportunities, before or after the baby arrives.

MelanieCheeks · 31/12/2014 11:44

We're short of volunteers for the NYD run and the weather looks shite, so timekeeping rather than running for me tomorrow. Hopefully be OK for Saturday, as one of my friends is doing her 40th parkrun on her 40th birthday!

Any suggestions for suitable pressies? She's a cupcake, cocktails and knitting fan Cake

Blatherskite · 31/12/2014 12:47

You could find a recipe for a cocktail inspired cupcake Melanie?

Blatherskite · 31/12/2014 13:39

Finally, an official statement to say that Adidas are no longer sponsoring parkrun Sad

cinnamongreyhound · 31/12/2014 16:58

Anyone seen the leaked tribesports post before psh has officially announced the new sponsors? There's a chance to vote for your choice of volunteer t-shirt design and colour :)

feetheart · 31/12/2014 17:03

Oh dear, it's all been a bit amateurish hasn't it?

Never mind, I think volunteers t-shirts are a brilliant idea (and I've more chance of getting one of those than my 50 t-shirt in 2015 :))
Have voted.

cinnamongreyhound · 31/12/2014 17:15

Can only assume it was supposed to be new year, new sponsor but really, having removed Adidas from The website why not tell everybody then?!?

Blatherskite · 31/12/2014 17:31

Seems Tribesports have jumped the gun a bit!

I've voted too. Love the idea, not least because I was looking at a few of years wait between t-shirts 100 and 250 which was a bit bleak but now I only need to volunteer 9 more times and I get a probably purple one looking at the votes at the moment

Blatherskite · 31/12/2014 17:43

Official parkrun announcement now released

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 31/12/2014 18:08

I read the volunteer tee-shirt as for those volunteers who had already passed 25, rather than as an on-going thing. But could be wrong of course. and voted for yellow Smile

OP posts:
Blatherskite · 31/12/2014 18:19

It's for everyone who's volunteered 25 times. Those who've already done it and those who will do it in the future.

I discounted yellow as it'll be invisible under the volunteer bib and looks way too much like the Sweatshop SRC club vests. They need to be easily distinguishable I think and SRC are really popular at our parkrun.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 31/12/2014 18:58

Oh I read it as a one-off as new sponsors for people who had already volunteered 25 times. Excellent it it keeps going for future volunteers as well Smile - might encourage some people out of hiding. Ours seems to be the same people all the time, most of whom are non-runners, and a handful of runners who volunteer now and again.

OP posts:
cinnamongreyhound · 31/12/2014 20:10

I have volunteered at least 25 times I'm sure (13 so far this bcp parkrun year), I welcome rewarding volunteers! I went for purple but like grey too and chose second logo :)
