New thread for park runners old and new. Who's running at home and away this weekend? Who's volunteering?

Also my first crush from secondary school was there at the beginning - I was going to say hello at the end but he'd already gone by the time I'd finished!

Good job I'm not still determined to impress him eh?

HalleLouja · 13/12/2014 18:12

Ohone 9 miles dead on with a mental sprint finish up a hill. The longest run I have ever done. I am now thinking of spring half marathons. Most HM training plans only go to 10 miles I think....

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 13/12/2014 18:29

That's right Halle Smile

cinnamon and I both did the Cambridge Boundary Run last year. I would say we did it together, but she is a lot faster than I am Grin. I would like to do it again if I can get my act together and train for it (I did the Bedford half last week but struggled because I'd only been running parkrun for the last few weeks because of injury). It's on 1 March, does that count as spring Smile?

Mmmmm maybe..... How hilly is it?

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 13/12/2014 18:43

This is my garmin elevation jobby, but I don't remember the hill that appears to be at mile 2.5-5. It looks as though the route is starting at a different point next year, so this may all be no use - and don't let it put you off, what goes up must come down Smile

I really enjoyed it! Shame I will be way too pregnant to do it next year but back 2016 :)

I am amazed I finished in under 30 mins today! Felt tough and was behind several others who are around 30 mins usually. Out of 27 runners today we had 6pb's, not bad!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 13/12/2014 18:58

That's brilliant cinnamon

I am determined that I will get back running properly in 2015, it makes sun a difference to my parkrun time if I'm running regularly.

Ooooo that looks tempting Ohone - I need to plan in a few races for 2015 now (I'm still dithering about the Fred Hughes Halle)

However I have just spent all afternoon in the sunshine tramping around a park with a dozen people and a measuring wheel and we have a course for a parkrun :o
Nice 3 and a bit laps, mainly on tarmac and mainly flat. Looking at inaugural in April but need to sort funding out first - on today's showing we have a team :)
Very happy parkrunner :o:o:o

HalleLouja · 14/12/2014 20:14

Well done Feet! Sounds exciting.

We are organising a 5 miler race in the home of the Arrows which is really exciting. Am going to be helping to sort out the entries Grin/

Wit Fred Hughes I was told to book a place as it gets sold out. So if you don't want to do it nearer the time you can transfer your place. Just putting it out there.

Well done to all the parkrunners yesterday.

cinnamongreyhound · 14/12/2014 21:40

Fantastic Feetheart!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 14/12/2014 22:41

Who's getting excited for a festive parkrun, or is our the only one celebratin Christmas this Saturday?

feetheart · 18/12/2014 11:56

We have hats (DS's has lights on!) and these to wear on Saturday (parkrun), Sunday (Santa Run) and Friday (Boxing Day run).
May even get an outing on NYD too :)

cinnamongreyhound · 18/12/2014 14:06

Oooooo I like those Xmas Grin

Blatherskite · 19/12/2014 14:44

I am out tonight so I think the best parkrun can hope from me tomorrow is that I turn up and get round without puking. No tree up here yet as it was DD's birthday on Wednesday and I haven't had time to go up in the loft to get the tree down since.

My lovely, rubbery parkrun wrist band arrived just in time for last week's parkrun though. Seems to be working so far

OnTheThursdayOfChristmas · 20/12/2014 08:03

Got my xmas tree earrings apt elf hat at the ready - I'm time keeping today Xmas Smile

Have a good morning everyone!

Blathers are you in the land of the living??

standingonlego · 20/12/2014 10:18

Elf hat worn and parkrun done :) hope everyone had a good run and is not feeling too fragile!

HalleLouja · 20/12/2014 11:09

Ohhh I managed 27.28. I will take that but now need to find my misplaced Garmin.

Nice to see Feet and minifeet today.

cinnamongreyhound · 20/12/2014 13:14

I ran mine dog less and slow and then rushed over to my clubs 10k to timekeep and rd ran so we haven't got results yet.

Very :( my 50 shirt can no longer be worn!

karatekimmi · 20/12/2014 15:35

Did my 12th different parkrun today, happy with 32.50. I followed a little group of a young lad 10ish I'd guess and two ladies. It was very entertaining and he splashed through every single puddle!!

If you find you garmin halle can you see if mines with it - it was a birthday present and I lost it before my birthday Confused I'm in BIG TROUBLE!!!

HalleLouja · 20/12/2014 17:06

Kimmi found mine. Phew. Fingers crossed you find yours too.

GerundTheBehemoth · 20/12/2014 20:22

I popped my parkrun cherry today - did the Tonbridge one, the closest to where I live (Sevenoaks). Actually it's very handy for me, as I teach at a kids' aikido class in Tonbridge at 10am on Saturday mornings, and the dojo's just up the road from the parkrun start/finish. Got home in 33:11, v pleased given that when I timed myself over 5K a month ago I did 37:something.

It's a very nice course and FLAT which I am not used to at all - and there was a fab festive atmosphere with Santa/elf hats galore.

standingonlego · 20/12/2014 20:35

Welcome gerund lovely to have you with us!

Bump looking good cinnamon :)

Hope the garmin location elves visit kimmi and hello everyone else !!!

Pleased with my 28.20 - ran and gossiped with a friend the whole way and stopped for a lace so pretty respectable as was first one in ages.

standingonlego · 20/12/2014 20:35

Wonder if blathers made it!?

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 20/12/2014 21:50

We had a festive parkrun too. I couldn't find any fancy dress this morning so ran in a tinsel boa. One of my friends ran in a santa costume. Unfortunately we forgot that this was not normal attire when we went for a post-run coffee Grin. At least until the waitress asked us what we were celebrating.

When I got home DH asked me if I'd seen any of my friends and listened patiently while I told him about various parkrunners he has never met. It made me realise what a good thing parkrun has been for me - we moved here a couple of years ago and if it wasn't for parkrun I wouldn't have made any local friends - I commute into London for work and don't have the time or energy to do anything social during the week.
