New thread for park runners old and new. Who's running at home and away this weekend? Who's volunteering?

We were off to UEA cinnamon. DS is even more certain now that it is where he wants to go, so hopefully that will help to motivate him to keep working hard Smile.

I'm up for Wimpole any time, we went past that turning as well yesterday and I clocked it as about 30 minutes from me, so very easily done. I don't have any volunteering dates in the calendar yet, so if you let me know when is good for you I'll make sure I'm not doing anything else.

It's lovely there, my brother was very happy there and I did a post grad course there and was always well looked after! Good luck to him :)
Shall we say 10th? I have nothing on that Saturday.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 07/12/2014 21:42

Oh pooh, just checked my tutorial dates and have one on 10 Jan. I had to miss yesterday's to take DS to his thing. How about 17th?

OP posts:
cinnamongreyhound · 07/12/2014 21:50

I'm rd 17th :( could try 3rd or is it too close to festivities? If not we can pencil in 24th and hope that I'm still up to it Xmas Wink

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 07/12/2014 22:23

3rd should be OK for me - I could even drag a boy or two with me as there will be no excuses if they are on holiday Smile

OP posts:
feetheart · 07/12/2014 23:20

If you don't mind gatecrashers a small boy and I might fancy a trip too. I think Wimpole is only slightly further than Bedford for us.
I think later in the month is pencilled in as Blathers 100th.

cinnamongreyhound · 08/12/2014 07:31

Ooooo even more people will be lovely! I'll be bringing my loony little doggy feetheart as I've heard wimpole is the best parkrun for dogs, apparently 10% of runners have dogs :)

Thegreatweddingdressdilemma · 08/12/2014 07:52

I did Parkrun a few times in the summer (having not run for about 4 years) but then an old injury flared up again, then I kind of lost my mojo and have been really lazy since then....shameful really.
So today I am off work, and it is not raining, so I have no excuses not to go out and run 5K. Will report back later. Depending on how I go, I might do Parkrun this weekend or next.

Thegreatweddingdressdilemma · 08/12/2014 15:41

Ok I'm back. So I did my first run since July and did 5K in 31 mins 20 seconds. Am pretty pleased that I didn't stop, but think I will wait until I am comfortably doing sub-30 before I brave Parkrun again!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 08/12/2014 22:43

Well done TGWDD! Your time is bound to come down if you go to parkrun and run with others Smile

feet all are welcome on tour Grin. A lady I have met through my parkrun was saying a week or two ago that she wanted to try Wimpole - we might have a posse Grin

And I asked on the runners' thread - where/when are Blathers and her 100?

OP posts:
cinnamongreyhound · 08/12/2014 22:45

I may see if my doggy running buddy fancies it too but will need to have someone At my home parkrun to rd!

feetheart · 09/12/2014 10:02

Think Blathers' 100th was some time at end of January. I am awaiting more information :)

Thegreatweddingdressdilemma · 09/12/2014 10:11

Thanks
I have a 5k practice route around where I live which I was doing in 26 mins in the summer. I was doing Parkrun a bit slower, more like 27.30 but that is because it is a bit more hilly and all off road whereas my local route is 50% on roads and flatter.
Goal is to get my 5k time down to 25 mins which I think is achievable - I just need to not leave 5 months in between runs Blush

Hi! Awww, you missed me Wink

We've been decorating the lounge so the PC was unplugged and my Garmin won't upload thjanks to some update or another so I've not had a lot to report.

parkrun 93 happened last weekend and I'm hoping to get 100 done on the 21st January. It should be the 17th but I'm in Copenhagen that weekend so unless you all fancy flying out with me....

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 09/12/2014 15:35

Of course we missed you Blathers! Do you mean 24 January? Copenhagen is a wee bit far (and last time many years ago I went I was horrified by how expensive it was too) Grin

OP posts:
cinnamongreyhound · 10/12/2014 19:37

I assumed 24th too :)

Blatherskite · 10/12/2014 22:06

Yes, the 24th. I have just had a recount though and it might actually be the 3rd/10th depending on whether or not I can get a pass to do Christmas day Grin

feetheart · 11/12/2014 07:05

Keep us posted, I have promised DS we will be going to MK in January though looking at Wimpole for 3rd and he may have cross country on 10th (however it is in MK so we can come and volunteer/cheer/see how a HUGE parkrun works/eat cake :o)

feetheart · 13/12/2014 07:47

I have the remains of a head cold and am knackered but DS is dead keen so we are off to SA to run. What doesn't kill us makes us strong...right?

standingonlego · 13/12/2014 08:43

I crawled home in the wee small hours, ran 5 miles yesterday and my kit is in the wash....but hockey is frozen off so just pulling my clothes on to volunteer :) got to dash!!!!

HalleLouja · 13/12/2014 09:36

Had run club night out last night..... Anyway a 8/9 mile run for me laters. So no Parkrun today. Hope you all have a good one.

feetheart · 13/12/2014 14:27

Lovely run in the cold.
Turned out I enjoyed it and DS struggled - I even beat him in the sprint finish for the first time ever. The finishing funnel people were a bit Shock as I out sprinted a 9 yr old and then fist-pumped the air GrinBlush

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 13/12/2014 15:33

Grin feet I can picture it now

I had a nice relaxed slow run/natter with a friend at the back (with a sprint finish)

Well done for volunteering lego

Blathers that is true parkrun dedication Grin. If your 100th turns out to be on 3 or 10 Jan I will still come on 24 Jan Smile. I think we might see each other on NYD as well.

Hope you had a nice long run Halle

I could have sworn I posted this morning Confused. But obviously not.

Talk myself into going thus morning, and as ever, I'm so glad I did. Perfect way to start the weekend. A steady run with my headphones in today - helps me switch off from the others in a 'competitor' kind of way not an i-don't-know-where-they-are kind of way.
