New thread for park runners old and new. Who's running at home and away this weekend? Who's volunteering?

Well!

I've been suffering from a cold all week, so have done very little training. I did go to club training night on Wednesday and did a very gentle 5k, but that was it. This morning I was intending to do just a gentle get-round-and have-fun. I knew Zola, a gorgeous white Samoyed whose owners organise the Waggy races here in Norn Irn was going to be there, and Mini and I had a chat with them before the start.

The whistle went. We set off. Fast. Zola overtook us, and Mini then tried to keep up. Zola stopped off for wee-wees, and we went ahead. Zola overtook us, and we again tried to keep pace - at a couple of stages we were running neck and neck, paw and paw. My running music was playing Slade singing "I like black and white, dreaming in black and white, run run away", as this big ball of white fluff, and my slightly smaller black spaniel were lolloping happily.

I knew we were fast, but couldn't quite believe that I'd managed not only a PB, but a sub 25 minute one too!

Yay Melanie!
What a lovely story, ad a sub 25 is something to celebrate indeed Smile

feetheart · 29/11/2014 12:45

Lovely images Melanie and fabulous time, well done :)

Right place, right time Halle - it seems to just be falling into place.
We have discussed 'doing the double' on NYD but aren't committing to it yet. Will do SA if we don't make Panshanger. Need to find out if the cafe is open but forgot to ask today.

Managed to run with minifeet and keep up with him for 2.5 miles. He then sped up, prompted by another boy trying to overtake him Hmm, and headed off to try and catch up with a friend of ours who he has run with before (and who I could see just ahead). He came in 7 seconds over his PB and I got a new one - 26:52. First time under 27secs and first in my age category :o :o

feetheart · 29/11/2014 12:45

27 minutes Blush

karatekimmi · 29/11/2014 14:28

Wow - awesome pb's mel and feet

A spot of tourism before a 10k race so I was happy with 35 m something and my 11th location.

Hope everyone else had a good run

littleomar · 29/11/2014 17:56

35:04. My running companion, 7yo DS, fell over in the mud and bashed his knee but kept going. I was so proud! We are signed up for a Christmas Day special as long as the weather is ok for DH and siblings to spectate.

HalleLouja · 29/11/2014 20:27

Wow feet. I am nowhere near that time at the moment.

standingonlego · 29/11/2014 23:32

Wowsers people - great running :)

feetheart · 30/11/2014 12:54

I think the speedwork at club is helping even if it makes me think I am dying

cinnamongreyhound · 30/11/2014 14:51

Well done MelanieCheeks and feetheart!!!

cinnamongreyhound · 04/12/2014 07:38

Congrats holmesweetholmes!!

Again OhOneOhTwoOhThree! That happened a few months ago didn't it?

I'm RD this Saturday. So no running for me. Our rd on 20th (our festive run as we're not doing a Christmas day run) is going to dress as a panto dame. We're making mince pies and sausage rolls but felt it may be slightly early in the day for mulled wine Wink

cinnamongreyhound · 04/12/2014 07:39

Huh? Think I may have not been reading the last page when answering then Blush

HalleLouja · 04/12/2014 09:42

Cinnamon its never too early for mulled wine. Wink

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 05/12/2014 08:00

Grin Not sure which of my inane witterings you are talking about cinners, but I am flattered you remembered whatever it was Grin . No parkrun this weekend for me-DS1 has an interview at his first choice university so we are having a day out there insteadGrin

I somehow missed many pages and was talking about when everyone's time was 59:59 at yor parkrun, thought it had happened again but just operator error OhOneOhTwoOhThree!!!

cinnamongreyhound · 05/12/2014 23:07

Gonna be a chilly one tomorrow!!!

feetheart · 06/12/2014 09:23

No parkrun for us this morning which is a shame as it looks beautiful out there. However minifeet has his first cross country race later and I get to be 'loud-cheering-from-the-sidelines-mum :)
He is beyond excited and has been in his very new club vest since 8am :o

ThursdayLast · 06/12/2014 09:28

Too full of cold (again) to drag myself out of bed for parkrun today.
I look forward to living vicariously through your posts later Smile

HalleLouja · 06/12/2014 10:04

Feet it was cold out there.

I nearly slipped on my arse but managed to keep going. Not checked my watch. Am going to see what the email says. I thought I would go with the flow and not fall on my arse. Though the second was close to happening.

cinnamongreyhound · 06/12/2014 12:42

We only had 25 runners today :( but very smooth results as everyone had a barcode and all scanned :)

HalleLouja · 06/12/2014 13:02

Good luck minifeet. May have all the ice melted for you.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 06/12/2014 18:12

cinnamon I gave you a little wave as we went past your neck of the woods this morning Smile

We are running 10 miles + parkrun tomorrow Grin

karatekimmi · 06/12/2014 18:54

We had a slippy and slidey morning - lots of ice, but it was okay if you were careful!! 5 to go now, I'm hoping they don't cancel any between now and January!!!

Knackerelli · 06/12/2014 22:33

A very frosty run today, felt my feet slipping a few times so took it easy. Annoying as I had new trainers I wanted to break in! Still, better than falling on my bum! Hope everyone else did well.

cinnamongreyhound · 07/12/2014 10:40

I waved back OhOneOhTwoOhThree Wink. Where were you off too? I would like to try to get to wimpole before I stop running while pregnant if you're up for sorting another one, early jan?
