Blathers - it's not that far :)

Anyone doing the Tring inaugural on 1st? The first 1k is all uphill Shock

Blatherskite · 24/10/2014 11:16

feet - I know a few EDs if you need any advice...

Tring I definitely can't do as I'm RD that day.

karatekimmi · 24/10/2014 18:23

My running club is taking over the parkrun as its the graduation of out c25k plan. I'm tail running with mini kimmi, and after a very stern email put out by our ED DH is running with a friends son. (If not accompanied across the line then no time!!) I feel a bit sorry for the lady with triplets!! Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 25/10/2014 11:08

RD for me today, easy parkrun, no accidents or problems with results :)

I came home and cried though :( feel like I'm at school again. No one sat with me and it made me so sad! Sat with my tea and cake processed results and go away as fast as I could. I feel ridiculous but actually quite hurt.

Hope everyone had a good parkrun morning :)

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 25/10/2014 11:08

Marvellous feet, well done. Keep us posted Smile

Hope your graduates did well kimmi

Both DSs came with me this morning despite DS1 spending most of the night coughing, and DS2 claiming a sore leg when I went in to wake him up and they both beat me by miles Smile

Oh cinners x-post don't be sad my lovely! You are such a nice kind person. most people don't appreciate all the behind-the-scenes work that goes on at parkrun. And until I started volunteering more often I used to be quite intimidated by the core team, because they all seemed to know each other and be such a tight group. (((hugs)))

Oh cinnamon what meanies they are Sad
I'm sure everyone was just being thoughtless, rather than mean. I bet you're the best RD.

I was approx 20secs wash from PB today? I knew it too and near killed myself sprinting for the finish. Never mind.
We had a lovely vibe today. I can't tell you how grateful I am to the MN running community for introducing me to it Thanks

LornMowa · 25/10/2014 13:02

Been lurking for quite a while on this thread as I slowly built up from couch to 5k.

Tried to do my 1st Parkrun last week and got horrendous cramp in my calf so didn't even bother to finish the race. As I knew I wouldn't be able to run for a few weeks until the soreness goes away, I volunteered for Tailrunner. So I did my first full Parkrun today accompanying a first timer in her 70s so we finished with the amazing time of 58:05. I figured its one way to ensure that I get a PB next time I try!

ThursdayOfTheLivingDead · 25/10/2014 13:15

Well done Lawn Grin

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 25/10/2014 22:59

Well done and welcome Lorn. I love tail running, you get to meet the nicest parkunners Smile

Poor cinnamon its horrible to feel like that.

Our graduates did brilliantly, we are so proud of them, and it's good to see how far some of our other member (including myself) have come since January.

lorn be careful as parkrun and PB hunting can be addictive!! Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 28/10/2014 20:28

I'm torn, a new canicross club has started up locally and they are having their club runs 9am Saturday :( I didn't go to the last one because I was already volunteering but actually I really don't want to miss parkrun ever . The dogs will love it but I've also been told it's quite slow, I went on the one with the club they've budded off from and I kept up fine so if it's slower I'm worried I'll feel cheated and wish id gone to parkrun but I won't know until I try, argh why are decisions so hard!!

feetheart · 28/10/2014 22:47

cinnamon - I hate decisions like that. Good luck working it out.

Blathers - yes please to advice from knowledgable ED's. We will need all the help we can get :)
DS, DD and I walked (and measured) a possible site today and I'm meeting with the development officer for Active Luton tomorrow to pick her brains and find out who else we need to talk to.

cinnamongreyhound · 31/10/2014 10:23

I'm parkrunning tomorrow, it's our halloween run so will be fun and the canicross are talking about doing some evening runs too :)

ThursdayOfTheLivingDead · 31/10/2014 10:40

Yay!
My running buddy had the morning off (from her DD Wink) tomorrow so I'm taking her to her first parkrun!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 31/10/2014 13:07

I am very excited about my parkrun tourism tomorrow morning - DS1 and I are going to Fountains Abbey. If there are any lurking FA regulars, give us a wave!

Tring inaugural for DS and I tomorrow - apparently the first 1k is all up hill Shock
As we have had a late night and a BIG Chinese meal I am just hoping to get round :)

HalleLouja · 01/11/2014 07:29

Off to SA today. Not really slept.... The Tring park run fb said they didn't want too many tourists on their first one. They are also setting one up in Harlow. Or should that be 'arlow.

HalleLouja · 01/11/2014 07:30

Feet let me know if I can help. Sounds promising.

feetheart · 01/11/2014 07:41

Just read that bit on their FB page HalleLouja - too late, map is printed, DS about to be woken up and he really wants to run up a hill Shock
Will report back.

HalleLouja · 01/11/2014 07:44

You live nearby. I think it's more the people who travel far and wide for inaugural runs.

HalleLouja · 01/11/2014 10:31

God that was bad. Just about made it under half an hour. I blame the post holiday blues and the winter course as fireworks are being put up.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 01/11/2014 11:18

Lovely run at Fountains Abbey with DS 1 this morningSmile although I slightly regretted having had porridge and the cooked breakfast on offer this morningGrin Met a lovely lady and ran all the way chatting to her wondering if she was one of us Grin Grin Grin

OP posts:
feetheart · 01/11/2014 15:28

Wow, just wow! That is one BIG hill. Then an awesome downhill, then 'undulating' and then another hill before the finishing straight Shock
Tring parkrun is TOUGH!!!
Managed it in 31:39 which wasn't bad though DS beat me by over a minute.
Back to nice, flat SA next week - with cake :)

feetheart · 01/11/2014 15:31

And I've decided I don't like the parkrun age-grading thing as it doesn't take hills into account, unlike the nice GoodRunGuide one.
54.29% compared with 58.6% for today's run - bit of a difference :)
